Just an FYI on Adobe Flash version 11.8.800.168. I was prompted to install the update, I accepted, and then no sound on any YouTube videos thereafter. So, I though that was strange and I found that Vimeo and Daily Motion both worked OK. All PC sounds worked OK as well.
Did the same as above on my second computer and got the same results.
Uninstalled the Flash Update and YouTube sound returned to normal.
Issue: Youtube/Flash 1080p Windowed has slow video playback in Firefox/Waterfox & Opera, but in fullscreen it runs absolutely smooth.
However on IE and Chrome a 1080p video runs just fine windowed.
When I watch YouTube videos, or videos/music in MPC my system audio stutter when multitasking
this also happens during watching a video but its a very short stutter and the whole immersion gets lost away............
I noticed this all started to happen after i brought my GPU back to life the 2nd time also not sure if its related but i have been having few problems with Google chrome its a bit better after i disabled hardware acceleration but its all good with Firefox apart from YouTube but YouTube stutters worst when multitasking in chrome

I "temporally" solved it back then by Installing bunch of windows updates plus not only that problem also my chrome problem is fixed
Audio stuter when multitasking with mpc and youtube - Operating Systems and Software
When I play a video in metro ie no sound could be heard but yesterday there was (hibernation). The beginning of the problem was that I had one video opened with sound then paused it opened in new tab second video with no sound while in the first there still was.
So far i restarted the computer and reinstalled adobe flash player googled a lot and not found anything.
I was looking for a way to reinstall metro ie but that didn't work as well(no info) but even though i can uninstall it.
All at once I am not able to get sound from YouTube files on websites or YouTube. On websites I get video and sound as long the file is not a YouTube file. I have tried IE10 and Firefox and still no luck. Adobe Flash plug-in is enabled and I know the sound card is working.

I could understand when nothing was done then screen would go idle but the video is running and screen turns off ...isn't it frustrating? so how to keep screen alive while watching YouTube videos but it should turn off when pc is inactive(other cases when video is not playing) ..

View 3 Replies View RelatedI updated to 8.1 because supposedly, it was to offer features similar to win 7. Instead, it's even worse than win 8. Now, the sound quality on my laptop is lousy because the Dolby Audio driver receives an error message and isn't working. I went to Lenovo (I have a Ideapad N Series 580) and followed these instructions from Lenovo and microsoft, which unfortunately didn't work. I'm still getting the same error message. I wish I had never heard of windows 8.1! Many have had this same problem after installing 8.1. This instructions are from Answers.Microsoft, but didn't work.
Open Device Manager. (Right-click on the Start button and choose Device Manager).
Expand the Sound, Video and Games Controllers section.
Right Click on the Conexant Smart Audio HD item and choose Uninstall.
Still in Device Manager, click on Action>Scan for new Hardware.
The Conexant Smart Audio item will re-appear.
Right-Click on it and choose update driver.
Navigate to d:driversaudio.
When that's done, close Device Manager.
Open File Manager and navigate to D:driversAudioDolbyGUI and install Dolby Home Theater.
These instructions are from Lenovo and didn't work.
When using Flash Player within IE10 in 8, audio and video synch is fine at standard small screen, but when I go to full screen they do not synch. The video is behind timing with the audio. It looks as though the video skips now and then trying to catch up with the audio. I dual boot with 7 and do not have a problem with Flash within IE10 there, so I'm assuming it's not hardware. This happens on any site using Flash.
All the settings in both Flash Players are the same. The only difference is that my 7 OS is 32 bit with 32bit Flash whereas my 8 OS is 64bit with 32bit Flash.
For sometime now, can't say exactly when it started, all Flash videos have a strange startup delay. Videos buffer fast, no complaints, audio starts immediately but the video hangs there up to 7 - 8 seconds showing the first frame and then after this delay, jumps forward to catch the audio and finally plays normally.
I have difficulties to describe this, lets try with other words: I start for example a YouTube video. Audio of the video starts immediately, totally normally, but for the first 7 or 8 seconds the video only shows a still image of the first frame, totally frozen, then jumps to same time spot where audio currently is going and from that point I can watch videos normally. I lose nothing of the audio but visually I am not able to see those first seconds of the video.
When finally both audio and video streams are normal and running, if I switch to / from full screen, the same happens again although the video is frozen only 2 to 4 seconds (audio runs normally), delay being not as long as when video is started.
I have latest Flash installed, the laptop in question is the one told in my system specs. The issue is only when streaming Flash videos; disabling Flash for instance in IE11 and using HTML5 player instead, all videos (even YouTube) work as they should, both audio and video starting immediately.
I have installed the newest web browsers: Opera, Firefox and IE. I have the lastest version of Adobe Flash Player. When I want to watch any video on Youtube - it's almost impossible, cause it jams. Even when I down it to 360p. It's about 50 percent of CPU usage, sometimes even more. I tried to install older version of Flash Player - no effects.

The Create a Recovery Drive actually formats the USB drive in FAT32 and makes it bootable. I plan to purchase a 64GB USB flash drive. Will the Recovery Drive Creator repartition the USB Flash Drive as a 32GB FAT32 partition? I tried the same on an external USB hard drive and it repartitioned the external hard drive as a 32GB FAT32 partition.

Now,... automatic updates were installed as I shutdown. Now I have to audio! Can't figure out why. I don't really even have time to be figuring this out! I went into sound hardware whatever in the control panel. I hit the test button and I do hear the test tones. But when I go to listen to anything else I get nothing. This is the second time I am having to deal with this. The first time I had to actually yank the battery. After installing the battery again and starting the computer I got sound. Why? I dont know. Even the volume controls are acting weird. If I hit the volume up on the keyboard a few times and then hit the volume down,... on screen it will show the volume going up by 2 before going down. Also,... if I go to setting via the menu bar by the clock and see the volume icon with the value, if I hot the volume up and down and mute, the value wont change. Not until I close the menu bar and reopen it.
I recently switched my pc from 2 AMD cards to 2 Nvidia cards, when i was preparing to install the 2 cards, i shut down my computer, during the shutdown it asked me to update and shutdown win 8 which i did. ever since i did that my audio devices are not detecting.. nothing i do is working.
When i use my plug and play speakers, they are not recognized... let me rephrase.. in the playback devices menu they show up as "Speakers" as they always have, then quickly disappear, then show up again, then disappear again, then back and forth over and over and over again..... i tried uninstalling my audio drivers and reinstalling. this did not work. i can get sound with the speakers, by just pluggin them into my TV, but i cant control the audio or the 5.1 surround from the tv, it just shows them as stereo...

i never had this problem until A) new cards, and B) installed the win 8 update... But i rolled my computer back to a date before that update, and then turned updates off in case that was it..
i've also tried installing drivers directly from realtek, directly from my motherboard website. i've uninstalled and reinstalled, and stopped windows from auto installing during my realtek installs on the drivers...
just cant figure out why it flickers like that, the speakers work fine in other devices (e.g the tv).

How can I solve Playback & Record device not found in windows' sound?
Sound driver status in device manager still has no conflict and Realtek Audio manager can detect only plugged in jack. I have tried to reinstalled audio driver without any conflict but still nothing in windows' sound.
If I try to restore by windows restore point, would the problem solved?
Until earlier today I could 'rewind' 15 seconds on the MS Music Control Panel. Having 'updated' the App this functionality has been lost. You can either rewind to the start or the end. You have to use the slider if you want to rewind less. For transcribing a multi-hour interview that is in .wma format this is now highly inconvenient.
How I can retrieve a 15 second shift button again?
It pops up on the video screen I want to watch in Fox News website -- I haven't noticed it popping up on other sites as yet. It will list the site asking for permission to store information on my computer. The link I have attached below gives instructions on how to remove this pop-up. Is this flash player thing safe or is it some kind of virus or malware? The attached link refers to it as spyware. If I were to remove the Flash player program, will it affect playing games or whatever on my laptop.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI've had Win 7 Pro on my laptop for over a year. I installed a 2nd hard drive to it recently and today I installed Windows 8 Pro on the 2nd hard drive. It's been a roller coaster of good & bad luck.
The first install went fine, until I tried to install the Windows 8.1 upgrade from the Windows store, then things went bad and I had to go into Windows 7 and eventually delete the Windows 8 volume and change it from MBR to GPT because of UEFI (no secure boot enabled). What a stretch of error messages telling me I can't install Windows 8 on the blank hard drive because it was or wasn't MBR or GPT, or the automagically made partitions weren't in the right order.
After spending over 7 hours twice in a row installing Windows 8, I finally find out that there's no boot option for Windows 7 anymore.
The only clue I have is to use a Windows 7 repair disk and use diskpart.exe and make the Win 7 drive "active" but that's a little foreign to me at this point.
I'm looking in Computer Management / Disk Management from within Windows 8.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI ran into a minor problem with Acronis True Image 2014 after letting Microsoft install Update 1 on my system. For some reason the desktop Icons go blank for ~15 seconds when I boot. As soon as I uninstall TI the problem goes away. The problem also seems to go away if I "turn off" Auto Logon to my Microsoft Account. Base on all my Acronis Forum discussions I must be the only person in the world with this problem! The stand alone version of TI 2014 works OK. I will continue to use the standalone version of TI 2014 to backup the system (Boot Partition) periodically since I know it works and has saved me from disaster numerous times.
So...I'm ready to let Windows 8.1 handle my data backups using the File History function. Dumb question - if I do a system restore because of a virus or whatever will Windows 8.1 be able to use the file history maintained by the version of Windows 8.1 that was wiped out by the restore? The file history will be on a separate disk drive.
I just updated to 8.1 two days ago. I agreed to the update when my computer boot up, without issue, and was forced to reboot immediately (which, by the way, is idiotic. I wanted to do the install at night when I went to bed not lose my only computer for 1.5 hours that were suppose to be spent on volunteer activities because it won't let me delay the install!)
When my computer next booted up it was SLOW. I opened up task manager and it showed me at 100% disk IO, even though non of the programs running used enough disk IO individually to be anywhere close to the 100% mark. Even after all of my programs *finally* finished booting up the disk IO still showed at 100%, but every program on my task manage showed less then 0.3 MB/s and most were at 0.1. Eventually the diso IO goes back to a reasonable level, but I had enough time to search all over google and fail to find any answers before my IO went to 0 so it was hardly immediately. This is substantially slowing my bootup process.
I have checked all the bootup programs and they all look right. a *quick* scan of msconfig bootup (I already use a selective bootup from msconfig) looked right as well. I ran a malware scan and nothing came up. However, I didn't expect any of those to be the problem anyways. My computer was fin when it booted up without 8.1 I used it for 20 minutes visiting the same website I always do, then I was forced to do an install and everything was broken. This clearly sounds like it was caused by the 8.1 upgrade.
I will update with screen captures of task manager when I next reboot; My disk IO stayed at 100% so long I figured I could take the captures when I needed them, then it finally went to 0% the one time I actually wanted it to stay at 100% ...
I am using Macrium Reflect Free to make weekly images of my PC. Every few weeks Macrium provides updates to the program with bug fixes and even feature enhancemen.
When you make a rescue disk that will be used to boot a your dead computer and restore a disk image, part of that process sets up the current version of Reflect on that disk. Over time the (old) version on the rescue disk and the current version you are using for backup get further and further apart.
Macrium does not provide any guidance that I can find on remaking your rescue media to keep it up to date. The obvious thing would be to remake rescue media for each update.have any info on criteria from Macrium that would safely allow a less tedious frequency of media updates?

I've never had any problems with video until I've tried to stream 4k quality. I can do 1080p fine. All my specs are on my profile.
