How To Get Rid Of Watermark
Nov 6, 2013I'm running Win 8.1 Pro and I have this annoying watermark in the lower right corner that says "Windows 8.1 Pro". I tried the "My_WCP watermark editor", but that didn't work.

View 8 RepliesSo I was having some problems before but I reinstalled Win 8, made sure it's activated, and everything seems to be working well. I upgraded again to Win 8.1, and the pesky watermark is back.
It's not a huge deal, but is there a way to get rid of it? If not, will it go away by the time the official update is released?
Any way to get out the activation watermark. I was wasting time checking the file: twinui.dll and twinui.appcore.dll. I am a newbie is hex edition and dll injection and dll hook. But this is the results of wasting time looking the way for take off the watermark until the others smart guys find the key for kms v6 protocol.
Twinui.dll some imports in IDA:
Spoiler:
Code:
api-ms-win-core-winrt-string-l1-1-0.dll:
__declspec(dllimport) __stdcall WindowsCreateString(x, x, x)
__declspec(dllimport) __stdcall WindowsGetStringLen(x)
__declspec(dllimport) __stdcall WindowsGetStringRawBuffer(x, x)
__declspec(dllimport) __stdcall WindowsIsStringEmpty(x)
[Code] .....
I tried changing the function DllGetActivationFactory to "90" : nop and still nothing happened. Same function are in: Twinui.appcore.dll and Windows.UI.Xaml.dll.
Also I tried to change the UxTheme.dll and no lucky. So any working routine in kms emulator.
I upgraded to Windows 8.1 from my OEM version of Windows 8 on a machine that's about 4 months old. I'm seeing a watermark showing the release version and complaining about my UEFI secureboot setup. Any way beyond locking my UEFI BIOS?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently tried the "sfc /scannow" command. It said it fixed corruptions and after a restart a "Windows 8.1 Pro" watermark showed. I tried to remove it using the My_WCP_Watermark_Editor.exe app. However, it gave me errors in various Modern Apps like the Windows Store app wherein it would crash whenever I type something in the search bar. I did the "sfc /scannow" command again and it fixed the Modern Apps errors but the watermark appeared again. How to remove this watermark it is very annoying. Don't tell me to activate my Windows because it is already activated. I can use the Personalization settings in the start screen.
It added the "Test Mode" and the "Build 9600" because I accidentally clicked the apply settings the first time opening the app. There must be some way to remove the annoying watermark...
Capture.JPG I want to remove watermark. Have any people know that.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just got Windows 8.1 Ent. and I am starting to get irritated by the "Activate Windows" watermark, so I started looking for ways to activate the OS. Unfortunately, I didn't manage to find a functioning one, and KMS Auto didn't work.
So are there any other ways to activate Windows 8.1, or at least get rid of that watermark.
I have some pdf books that got them really difficult.
There are some programs in the net that can remove watermarks of the pdf books.
But I want to know that is there anyway to add a watermark that no one can remove it?
I have done a fresh install of Windows 8.1 Pro Build 9600 using a genuine MSDN ISO.
After the installation was complete i did all the updates and after that i decided to activate.
The activation was a success and the watermark disappeared but after a restart it came back on my desktop.
If in CMD i type "slmgr/xpr" it says widows is permanent activated so how come the watermark is still there?
Past Friday windows 8.1 ran some updates and I think it's since then the watermark with SecureBoot disappeared from my desktop.
I tried to remove this watermark before with my friend; My2cents. But we couldn't remove it because I had not eufi boot control panel. He told me he would provide a workaround to remove the thing and now it's solved.
When I updated to 8.1 it gave me the Watermark in the bottom corner about SecureBoot not being configured correctly.
Now I don't know when it happened and I've only noticed in the last couple days that Watermark has gone ....
I don't know if any of the updates since have done it ....
My friend is a coder and he said he has to have the Test Mode on to test some stuff but that he's annoyed by the watermark ...
All good so far, we ran the utility caled My WCP Watermark Editor and removed it successfully. But, later on he changed his display language from English to native and the watermark was back (in the native language). We tried using the My WCP Watermark Editor again but it gave an error every time, no matter what we tried.
It was basically like that; install the REG change to be able to take ownership of files (Take Ownership of a File, Folder, Drive, or Registry Key in Windows 8).
Then copy the shell32.dll.mui from the %WINDIR%System32En-US (or in the native language in my friend's case) and open it with the Resource Hacker (Resource Hacker).
Find a certain string and delete the entry that can be seen in the watermark. Then copy the basebrd.dll.mui from the %WINDIR%BrandingBasebrden-US folder and edit it with the Resource Hacker, find certain string and remove it.
Then overwrite the files with the changed ones (that's why the "take ownership" REG change was needed). After that we uninstalled the REG and rebooted.
After that I run mcbuilder.exe and after a couple of seconds it just closed the CMD screen.
The watermarks are gone - what I'd like to ask is:
Did I do right by running mcbuilder after the reboot or should I do it before?
Is this safe? Is it likely that it could cause any system unstability or whatsoever in the future? Or are we perfectly fine?
I have to run with driver signature enforcement turned off permanently as I use an AMD switchable graphics laptop, and it is not supported by AMD and am forced to run usermade drivers with no signature. How can I remove this watermark without messing with Windows version displayed in winver?
To add to this, I used MyWCPWatermark to remove the Test Mode text after I activated. Now I am activated with the Windows version and build number text still on the bottom right of the screen. I can't use MyWCP anymore, it just asks if I am on Windows 8 beta.
I just upgraded my legal copy of Windows 8 to Windows 8.1. I've also installed all the currently available updates. The problem I'm faced now is the watermark on my wallpaper near the clock (Bottom-right side of the desktop). It currently says: "Windows 8.1 SecureBoot isn't configured corrently Build 9600" .
I have to admit, I have disabled secure boot. I don't know if I'm allowed to talk about this in these forums, but let's just say I have another OS installed an my PC (I use GRUB to load the two Operating Systems)...
For those of us who have a PC capable of SecureBoot, but where we have chosen knowingly and intentionally to enable Legacy Boot, there has to be a way to get rid of the watermark. So, how to do it? Using the Group Policy editor to enable/disable "Use enhanced Boot Configuration Data validation profile" had no effect on my Samsung laptop.

How can I remove the Windows 8.1 Enterprise Watermark on my laptop?
On the right bottom side this is what Windows 8.1 says.
"Windows 8.1 Enterprise Evaluation Windows License Valid for 90 days Build 9600"
I run Windows 8.1 Enterprise 64 bits.
I finally found out a way to access the Test Mode in Windows 8.1 Pro Update 1 to get unsigned drivers to work, but the side-effect is there is a watermark, which can be removed if you disable the Test Mode. I want the Test Mode to stay enabled, but the watermark gone!

not sure if this has been posted but download this update from the Ms site if your watermark with this message doesn't disappear after you've activated your Windows 8.1 installation.
Download Update for Windows 8.1 for x64-based Systems (KB2902864) from Official Microsoft Download Center
I got the message after updating an HP sleekbook 4 laptop to Windows 8.1 enterprise (TechNet version from ISO) from the Windows 8 pro that was pre-installed with the laptop (plus all the other zillion bits of bloat /ad / crapware).-- I disabled protected boot -- more trouble than it's worth - especially if you are testing OS'es -- but KEPT the UEFI .
