Graphic Cards :: Ideapad Z580 Screen Flickering?

Sep 15, 2014

I am using a Ideapad Z580 with Windows 8.1 64 bit. All was working fine. But I formatted the C drive and reinstalled my Windows 8.1 OS. Then I installed all my drivers. After a reboot the screen started to jump(flickering). The top part of the screen(small portion) is appearing and disappearing in the bottom area. I tried to change the refresh rate. But it is locked in 60,and no other options are available.

Graphic Cards :: Secondary Monitor Flickering?

Jun 21, 2013

Last night my laptop (running Windows 8 x64 with a secondary monitor) was working fine. I put it to sleep and when it woke up this morning the secondary monitor is flickering a lot like this:

I have tried uninstalling the AMD driver and restarting then installing the latest version but it still doesn't work. The screen even flickered when the AMD driver was not present. I connected the monitor to another laptop and it worked fine.I played about with the refresh rate in the catalyst control center and it ended up making the laptop screen flicker instead so I reverted the settings back.

Graphic Cards :: Windows 8 Flickering At Startup And Shutdown - ATI 5470

Jun 21, 2013

Recently I updated my hp dv6 3122sl to Windows 8. Now, obviously the drivers provided by microsoft didn't work, so I installed the softpaq by hp in this order ....

1. sp52351 for intel hd graphics (1st gen)
2. sp50640 for my ati radeon 5470 (it's important to set compatibility with windows 7 for this one) and now the switching is working fine.

However there's a big big problem. The screen flickers 3-4 times at startup and shutdown if I enable fastboot from the control panel, and it's so annoying that I disabled it, sadly.

I tried to update drivers, using custom drivers by leshcat and later official drivers by ati (13.1 for example, which I installed over the hp ones), and the they -more or less- worked, because I could use the fastboot smoothly... but my pc had several thermal shutdowns since I installed other drivers! So I switched back to the old sp52351 and sp50640.

There it is my question: (Maybe with intel+ati 5470) have flickers at startup and shutdowns? If yes, any way to update drivers without make my laptop blow up?

Graphic Cards :: Second Screen Not Working?

Mar 24, 2014

I am on my work computer, a DELL desktop with Windows 8.1, and I've been using a dual monitor setup for months, both with Windows 8 and 8.1. One monitor is connected via the VGA input, and the other is through a VGA to HDMI adapter. Again, they've been working flawlessly for months. It was a plug 'n play setup that took a minute and never had an issue.

I came in today and the second screen was blank. In the screen setup menu it recognized it and allowed me to adjust between extending, mirroring, etc. But after I unplugged it and plugged it back in, it no longer recognizes it. It simply cannot find a second monitor plugged in. Both screens work when plugged directly into the VGA port separately but not when plugged in the way they've worked for months.

Graphic Cards :: Second Screen Always Shown After Installing Windows 8

I installed windows 8 on an Acer aspire 8320TG with AMD HD 6370 graphics card. This laptop is according to Acer not suitable for windows 8 but it worked. However, my screen is extended to the right and I can't switch this off. Since I don't have a second monitor I only notice this when my mouse sometimes gets lost or when I make a screenshot. I tried changing some settings in the "screen resolution" dialogue, without success. Am I just not finding the right settings for that or is it some compatibility-issue?

Graphic Cards :: New Monitor Pushes MS Word Screen To The Left

Sep 10, 2013

I am running Microsoft Office Home & Student 2010 on Windows 8.1 Preview.

Yesterday, I had to purchase a new desktop PC monitor. It's a Samsung S22C300H .

The resolution is higher than my previous monitor. As a result, when I open Microsoft Word and have it display in Print Layout mode, the page has shifted from the center of the screen to the far left.

(The resolution on the new monitor is 1920 x 1080.)

I've been used to the page being in the center of the screen for the past 20 years! I've lowered the resolution, which did center the page in Word, but the resolution is nowhere near as sharp as the high resolution mode.

Is there a way to get the Print Layout page in Word to be centered on the screen in this high resolution? If so, what is the procedure?

Graphic Cards :: Screen Artifacts When Connecting With HDMI From VAIO

May 27, 2014

My wife has a nice new VAIO laptop. We connect it to a Samsung TV with an HDMI cable. Initially there were video artifacts on the TV screen, but after some fiddling they seemed to go away. Today they have returned. I have tried another HDMI cable and it didn't work.

The artifacts are only on the TV screen and not on the laptop display. They cannot be captured with a screenshot (I just tried this and am posting from my computer).

The web search picture (HDMI.jpg) shows small vertical lines in a row after some of the text.

Sort of like this: | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |

But less than the height of these lines. There is also a set of the lines that follows the mouse cursor around.

The VAIO desktop picture (HDMI2.jpg) shows "sparkles" around the VAIO name and spreading to the left where it takes up the entire side of the screen.

Graphic Cards :: Image Not Fill Screen After BIOS Update

Dec 4, 2013

Trying to address a different problem, Gigabyte suggested that I update the BIOS on my GA-F2A88X-D3H mb from F1 to F3. In addition to not solving the problem, after I updated the image displayed on my monitor--Dell 2209 WA--doesn't fill the screen. Everything's there, but the image stops about 3.5" short of the right bezel.

Using AMD's Catalyst Control Center hasn't worked. I've read some posts about a similar--the same?--issue that suggest changing a setting in "My Flat Panel Display." But I see only "My VGA Display," with no option for over- or under-scanning.

The image does display fully on rebooting--I see the Gigabyte UltraDurable logo, and on entering BIOS instead of going into Windows 8.1 (64-bit).

Since first writing this, I've tried the monitor's menu and other buttons without success.

Is it worth getting a DVI-D to DVI-D cable to connect digitally, in place of the current VGA connection?

Does it signify that the monitor reports a screen resolution exceeding its supposed maximum of 1680 x 1050, namely, 1920 x 1080? In both Windows screen resolution and AMD CCC, I'm unable to set a resolution above 1680 x 1050, and setting lower resolutions doesn't work.

Graphic Cards :: Updated To Windows 8.1 / Screen Stuck In Letter Box

Sep 15, 2014

To my own stupidity I decided to update my computer from Windows 8 to 8.1, every thing would be fine if not for the fact that my screen is now stuck as a letterbox.

The native for my monitor is 1920-1080 and was what I was running at pre-update, after restarting, my screen is confined to a letterbox setting. Changing the resolution does nothing, when looking for a solution I came across a post from this thread:

8.1 upgrade - generic video driver problem

I've got the same graphics card as the OP and have found the same events. My question is what did he mean when he said

"I deleted the AMD leaf-item (Control Panel, Display adapters, AMD Radeon HD 7650D)and rebooted the system." in post 3.

Did he go ahead and un-install it? Clarification on what he exactly done would be great.

btw, if I did go ahead and un-install my graphics card like the OP originally suggested, would it reinstall on restart?
