Graphic Cards :: Cannot Install AMDs Display And Audio Drivers
Feb 26, 2014
Recently I did a full uninstall of all AMD Components to do a clean installation of the latest 14.2 Beta Drivers. After that, while installing 14.2; I keep getting this weird message saying that:
It only started after installing 14.2 and I'm even trying to install 14.1 Beta Display & Audio Drivers just to see if its just 14.2, but it seems like those drivers wont work as well.
I went to Device Manager in Control Panel - the Audio Driver & Display are not there.
My GPUs' are two 7970's & CPU is the 8-Core Black Edition FX-8150.

My computer is hp envy dv6 7280sf notebook with 2 GPUs intel graphics HD 4000 and Nvidia Gefoce 630 M running windows 8 64x.
After making an free upgrade online for windows 8.1 which run successfully, both gpus were ok...
But after receiving a windows update with new drivers for intel graphics 4000 gpu , after install and restart , the computer freezes on blank black screen at windows startup with no mouse or anything only backlight.
So safemode was succeful but i figured that the update for windos update was the cause and graphics drivers were installed so i removed the drivers for intel graphics and itried to reboot the computer so the restart was succeful but the intel graphics card was unistalled and no drivers were automatically installed so i tried to download and install the drivers from hp and intel website for windows 8.1 however the install fails.
Automatic install from device manager failed both online and from computer and even from manual driver selection.
So therefore the install failed in safe mode , and the high def audio device ( on screen audio possibly) failed and the device was not recongnized (no drivers installed) so i'm stuck without anydrivers for the integrated gpu and the games are no longer able to run normally even if the nvidia card is on.
I tried downloading an installing Windows 8 drives but it failed to install also , for instance any new install of drovers seems to fail for me even for external usb hard drive.

OKAY.. so I had Windows 7 64 bit installed for a while, then i decided to make the jump to Windows 8.1 when i found it on sale online.
I downloaded Windows 8.1 64 bit to a USB boot drive, but saved that for later and installed Windows 8.1 from the desktop as an "Upgrade" from my current system.
Then after installing all drivers and setting up my Windows Profile everything was perfect no issues, gaming was awesome, overall the system was great as it should. BUT one day (about 3 weeks after installation) i was playing League of Legends and my screen went black mid game. I reset the computer and from there on out I have been getting the black screen and have been unable to install the Latest and/or previous Nvidia Geforce Drivers(337.50) and every time I've had to Reboot in Safe Mode to uninstall the current drivers and or disable the "Video Adapter" to be able to access the desktop.
1st method: I tried everything from preventing Windows Update to install anything, and then downloading GeForce Drivers going into safe mode with not network access then installing from there but the installer would reach the "restart to install updates" then upon restart the black screens would occur.
2nd Method: Tried to allow windows to install drivers on It's own and it did install the "Officially" drivers 335.23 but they failed to install just as the previous method did.
3rd Method: Removing Re-seating the RAM, and Video Card and checking cables and fans making sure everything was functioning properly. after removing and re-seating the Components I tried methods 1 and 2 a few times with no success.

I recently bought a used Sapphire HD7970 GHZ Edition 3GB, which I got quite cheaply but it did need a little work doing to it.
Firstly the fan cable had, in the hands of the original user, somehow snapped and they had repaired it to run on a normal motherboard 4 pin fan lead. When I got the card the DIY repair had practically fallen apart but I was able to reconnect it all and both fans do spin (not sure if they are running fast enough but they are spinning and moving a little bit of air).
Anyway, second problem was the card had one of the two BIOSes flashed with an incorrect BIOS (seller said it was a BIOS of a different model of 7970) and needs reflashing.
So I fixed the fan lead, verified at least some cooling was happening and was able to get to Windows (8.1 64 bit) with it. However, in the device manager the card has the yellow exclamation mark and says "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)". I tried installing the AMD drivers regardless but they fail with warnings though still prompt to reboot, I rebooted on the hope they might have still installed but next thing Windows blue screens (well the Windows 8 version of it) with an unhandled exception warning and does this every time until I make it do a system restore then the card operates like it did before in that it outputs a picture but won't take the driver and fails to run anything more than 2D applications.
The seller has confirmed the good BIOS is already selected (he said it won't even boot to Windows on the other one) and recommended some beta drivers but these didn't work. I have also tried using Display Driver Uninstaller to remove all traces of old drivers (and manually deleted all AMD/ATI files and registry references) but no progress.
So why am I getting the code 43? Is there a diagnostic program that can tell me exactly what is stopping the card from working? How I might get this card up and running again?

I just purchased a new windows 8 PC. I was attempting to hook the computer up to my tv through hdmi (the pc has no VGA input) and when I went through the normal paces to put the display on my tv (display desktop only on 2), the signal did not transfer and there is no display on either my tv or pc! how to revert the display back to my pc monitor without being able to see anything? Acer support was less than useful. It's an acer aspire z3-605 all-in-one pc.

I just upgraded to 8.1 and now a game that I play called theHunter wont launch. When I run the launcher it comes up with an error saying 'No Appropriate Display Modes'. It was working fine on Windows 8. The support at the Hunter hasn't been very useful and despite trying a number of different things I can't seem to solve this issue.

I'm having a terrible time after reformatting my 8.1 machine (desktop).Every time I try to adjust a display setting, such as gamma, some other process overrides it in real-time. Meaning I can't calibrate my display in windows color calibration, or even in my nvidia control panel, it instantly resets it while you're adjusting the slider. I don't know what this could possibly be, but I've uninstalled the Dell display manager, so I assume it's not the monitor overriding it. I also have nvidia control panel set to 'use other applications' for display configuration.

I use Windows 8 on a rMBP, but frequently use an external monitor that's 1080p. Since it scales 200% for the HiDPI of the rMBP, it's way too big on the external. Is there a way I can have it scale only the internal monitor, and leave the external one at 100%?

I know how to select the second screen options, however, my Surface Pro and our Samsung Laptop both running Windows 8 cannot detect a second monitor/screen. We are connecting via the HDMI port, but it will not display no matter what option we choose nor whether we run it from the desktop or apps. This is what we use for work to display presentations for clients.

Original error message: "Display driver NVIDIA Kernel Mode Driver, Version 314.22 stopped responding and has succesfully recovered"
I'm getting this error again and again, mainly in games. (Which seems logic, they use the graphics card most) Games without DX11 will continue after a black screen has occured, but at very low FPS.
Games with DX11 will just crash and stop working after the same black screen.

Both primary and secondary displays are 1080p, native. Windows says both are running at 1920x1080, but I can visually see the secondary display is running a lower resolution. The GPU is GeForce GTX 560M, with the latest drivers. I didn't have this issue with Windows 7.

My problem is that I can't change resolution on my laptop's display with win 8. It's quite an old, Toshiba Satellite M70. I installed win 8 directly from XP. Everything is working fine except this. I tried to install the old drivers in compatibility mode, but says the system requirement is not enough. Do I have any chance to make it work?

I have a laptop where my LCD is broken on the left side, but the right side works fine. Is there a way I can change my display to only show on the right side? I've managed to make the display horizontally smaller, but I can't figure out how to change the center to the right side. This is annoying because I have to re-size every window every time I open it, and then I have to constantly scroll back and forth on web pages. I'd rather be able to maximize and have it only on the right side. See the attached picture to see what I'm talking about.

I am on a laptop with a gtx 765m. I am trying to connect a thunderbolt port to a display port monitor. My understanding is that thunderbolt is backwards compatible with display port. But, for the life of me I can not get it to work.
I am using a minidisplay port -> display port cord.
I have ended up hooking the monitor up with an hdmi cord for now. FYI the monitor is a 2560x1440 monitor if that matters.

For last couple days I've been going through a minor computer issue. I wasn't doing anything special, I just turned the computer off. And the next day the problem occured; After bios and Windows 8 loading screen ( the little dots going round, just below the windows 8 icon ) my screen goes black and there's no signal to the display. I've already tried formatting my hdd and installing windows 8, also tried doing Reset option, from the Windows 8 troubleshot system. I can't access my Safe Mode, because it tells that Windows can't finish the installation in safe mode ( After installing the new system I format all the data and it goes just fine until the windows icon and "Preparin your devices" sign. It goes 100% and gets black again.

In a few weeks (I can't wait! ) I will replace my laptop with the Surface Pro.
Right now, though, I have my laptop connected to two monitors: One via VGA and other via DVI. I'm running Windows 8 Pro x64, so this all works great.
So the big question is whether it is possible to have multi-monitor support via the one-and-only DisplayPort that is on the Surface Pro? If so, what--if any--additional hardware would I need?
When I'm docked at home and using my Surface Pro as laptop, I really need to keep the functionality of using both external monitors (one is 31" and the other 29"). I would really hate to go back to only being able to use one.

So I'm running 2xR9 290X (crossfire) with 3xQnix Qx2710 monitors. One of the qnix monitors was purchased with HDMI/DisplayPort connectors along with the usual DVI connector (normally these monitors only come with the D-DVI input)
I had a 2 monitor (with just the two DVI-only monitors) setup for a while that was working fine.
Since installing the third monitor I'm experiencing several weird things:
- On boot, until the Windows login screen comes up (Windows 8.1), there is nothing on the non-primary DVI monitor (so my setup is my primary monitor is one of the two DVI monitors, and then the left and right monitors is another DVI-only and the DP monitor).
- If the monitors go to sleep, or I put the computer to sleep and wake it up, any windows that were on the non-primary DVI monitor are moved over to the primary DVI monitor. Windows on the DP monitor do not move in this configuration.
- Within CCC, after sleep / monitors off, I have to restart CCC's control of the color settings for the non-primary DVI monitor. (I'm forgetting what the actual button says, but it's the button under the Display color controls settings where you can manipulate the R/G/B channels - I have to use the GPU for color matching since the monitors don't have any inherent ways to change R/G/B levels
If I only connect the two DVI monitors this is not an issue.
If I connect one DVI and the DP monitor, after sleep/wake any windows that were on the DP monitor are moved over to the primary monitor (again, note that this didn't happen when all 3 monitors were connected).
I have tried the newest version of CCC, as well as the current beta version - same behavior in both.
I have tried using HDMI instead of DP - same behavior
Aspects of this sound similar to the issues discussed in this post : [URL] ......
What I don't understand is why the second DVI monitor is acting so oddly when all 3 monitors are connected. Why would there be no picture when the computer boots?

I'm not sure if this problem is with the GPU, but I think it might be a good place to start.
Up until recently, I was running Windows 8.1 on a custom build with the following: Athlon II X4 610E processor, Silverstone NT01-E cooler, MSI 890-GX MoBo, 4GB OCZ DDR3/1333 RAM, Zotac GeForce GT 240 GPU, AuzenTech X-Fi Home Theater Sound Card, Western Digital 2TB Caviar Green, Corsair GT 120 SSD, Samsung SH-B083 ODD, and Silverstone NightJar ST40F PSU.
With this build I noticed that there was a certain tendency for the screen to "flicker" when the video changed (ie, starting a Netflix video, a Hulu video, movie on WMC, etc). It generally occurs at the start of a video and it's conclusion, being most annoying on Hulu because it does this at the start of a segment, just before the commercial break, and during the commercials.
Since I'm transitioning to gaming on my PC, I replaced several components, upgrading to a EVGA GeForce GTX 770 DUAL SuperClocked GPU, Intel Core i5-4570 processor (stock cooler), CORSAIR Vengeance LP 16GB (2 x 8GB) RAM, ASUS Q87M-E LGA 1150 MoBo, and CORSAIR CX series CX600 600W PSU. I also reinstalled Windows 8.1.
I had hoped that this would clear up my issue as a side benefit, but that is not the case. In fact, in some instances it's frequency has increased, mostly only occurring at the times I've come to expect, but I was watching a Hulu video just a few minutes ago and the number of times the screen flickered was nearly unbearable.

I'm sure I'm not the only one with this issue - Using 8.1 on a notebook with amd Trinity APU [A6-4400m] - all the display related Fn Keys are defeated. The non-display-related Fn + keys work. I can use CCC to manipulate external monitors, brightness, etc ok but it is not a good solution.
Plug in HDMI to external monitor and I get, by default, both.. both set non-optimally. must manually defeat the onboard display, change settings on external, reset overscan, etc etc etc

I just installed my new graphics cards and successfully install new driver.
Most of time i got this error on the start up of my computer. Here an image But it did happen once, when i was playing sniper elite nazi (for about 10min) and when it crashed i had to reboot because the driver didn't recover so any other games refuse to start giving DX11 failed error or just .exe crash.
All other games work properly.
I tryed to place the card in another PCIe slot but doesn't work either. I try both Driver Beta and the official one but both failed.

Just bought Windows 8 from their web page and upgraded my win7.
My problem is that I'm stuck with a hopeless resolution because I can't install any display drivers.
As the headline says : Windows can only find "Microsoft basic display driver". When I try to install Nvidia drivers I get the "installation cannot continue" message.
I seriously doubt that it's hardware fault - it worked perfectly before the update to win 8.
Sometimes in the properties for the screen driver, the chiptype is listed as Nvidia, and sometimes it just says N/A...
Specs:
Intel core i3Mobile Intel HM55 Express chipsetNVIDIA GeForce GT425M Graphics
Here's what I've done - besides googleing for the past 5 hours...: Updated intel chipset Tried the guide here: How to Fix NVIDIA Driver Update Installer Error - YouTube ---- this got me a little further but as soon as it tries to access my tv the installation dies (the time of a gfx installation where the screen flickers) Removed the windows driver. Uninstalled old nvidia drivers.

I upgraded Toshiba Satellite A100-998 with XP Media Centre to Windows 8 Pro. Before upgrade the screen resolution was 1280x800 on a NVIDIA GeForce Go7300 graphics adapter.
Windows 8 pro upgrade has installed only the Standard Microsoft Graphics Adapter of 1028x600. I have searched registry for Display1_DownScalingSupported key but it does not exist.
I have attempted to find another driver on the NVIDIA and Toshiba web support but I am unsure what would be the right one. The laptop clearly can support the higher resolution, how to resolve the issue.
