View 3 RepliesI signed into my new HP laptop with the account I had for windows 8 on my desktop. This account is now the administrator for my laptop. I do not want to keep the laptop and I want to remove the account from the laptop. I've followed many instructions but cannot delete the account as it doesn't give me the option to delete this account.
View 1 Replies View RelatedComing from XP, I am trying to get oriented to Windows 8. What has me confused is how to control the passwords of Users.
I am the Administrator and some time ago I created a User without Admin privileges. Unfortunately I did not write down the PW, however, as Admin, I do not see a way to change the password (as Admins could under XP).
What are my options besides deleting the user (it is actually for me)?
just yesterday I bought a new desktop PC which run with Windows 8.At my first startup of Win 8, the PC asked me a registration on Microsoft website and a creation of administrator account. When I did the second startup, Win 8 asked me to write the administrator password, but my password doesn't run, and also the PC's name is the same of my e-mail address and not the name that I had chose with my first registration. So I think I made some mistake during registration and also now for me it's impossible even know the e-mail address used for the administator account registration. On Microsoft's website I haven't found information for recover account name (the email) and password. Before switch off the PC for the first time, fortunately I created a second account (user) on my PC, so now I have the access to the PC only like user and not like administator. How I can solve this situation?I haven't an important file of software on my PC (because is new and I have not had time for install nothing!).

I have a dell laptop that I want to gift to a family member. When I set it up new I linked it to my hotmail account so when it boots up it shows my email address and I login. I want to keep the laptop just the way it is but remove my login and email and assign a new administrator. Once with windows 7 I messed with the admin account. What is the proper way to remove me as a user and replace the login and administrator without loosing or changing any of the files or settings on the computer?

View 1 Replies View Relatedrecently i changed my windows 8 laptop's password but now somehow i forgot what it was and i cant enter my laptop iam so in trouble how can i reset or remove my password from startup screen?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy computer recently began requiring me to use password at startup. I had previously disabled.
I went to NETPLWIZ as suggested elsewhere (Log On User Account Automatically at Windows 8 Startup)
However, there is no box to uncheck that says "Users must enter username and password to use this computer." (see attachment)
What am I missing? I have also checked the Password Requirement on Wakeup in the Power settings and that shows "No" and the "Ctrl-Alt-Del" option is also not in place.
before installing any program or uninstalling in my system, my windows should prompt me to enter my password. How do I do this, using windows 8
View 3 Replies View RelatedI think you know the function right click on a file and use "run as administrator". The file will run with administrator rights (without asking for a password).
Another way is to set the funktion "run as administrator" in the shortcut. Will you use the "run as" funktion in a dos box you need a password for the administrator account. But I will not insert a pw, i will use it like right click "run as administrator" but without a right click
For example:
runas /noprofile /user:administrator cmd.exe
i will not use a password!
I have a new dell and set it up with the administrator having no password. I would like to change it so that the administrator has a password. When I go to User Accounts then Manage Accounts there is nothing I can click on that will give any more responses.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have my Windows 8.1 PC's password policy set so that a password is not required when waking from sleep/shutdown. I used to be able to wake the PC from sleep and not put in a password, and I could turn the PC on after a shutdown without having to put in a password either. Since last week, though, when I turn my PC on, it will boot to the Windows loading screen and after loading for a bit, it will jump into the login screen and immediately report a login error that the username or password is incorrect. This happens before I even get a chance to type a username or password. The fact that I have to type in the username and password is strange because I have the PC set to bypass that option.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI had occasion to employ Toshiba to remove some malware from a Toshiba Satellite laptop. View 1 Replies View RelatedInstalled Windows 8 on my desktop. Bought another licence (download) for my wife's laptop. Everything went fine until I used netplwiz to change her to the administrator and only user. I thought that went ok but now she is the only user and I'm being prompted for a password everywhere which doesn't work. I can't even run a third party application from a thumb drive. I wouldn't mind reinstalling Windows 8 if that's the fix but I couldn't find the executable after it downloaded and installed. I probably wouldn't be able to execute it anyway without admin privileges. Tried to buy yet a third copy of Windows 8 to reinstall on the laptop and I couldn't even do that without admin privileges.
How to recover or reset the admin password or how to reinstall Windows 8?
I have an administrator account created for Window 8.
How do i manage the Pop up for UAC? Everytime i run app/install app, it asks for username and password for admin. But i am sure, the account is an admin account?
How come come administrator account can change the password of the LOCAL ADMINISTRATOR account (default admin)?
I set up the user account using my Microsoft email account. I would like to use a different password on my desktop vs the email password. My email password since it is accessible via web is strong 16 characters long, random characters password and changed often. I would like to change the desktop password to something I can remember, still strong, but I don't change it as often since you have to get physical access to my desktop.
I assumed once I linked to the Microsoft account I could change the password on the machine without it changing my email password.
Is this not possible? I would prefer not to have to lower the security of my email account just to accommodate Windows 8. Never a problem before as my email clients stored the password.
So I had enabled the Administrator account for a bit, then went back in and Disabled it after I created a second account that had administrator privileges. Now under Network I still see 2 Media servers, listed under media Devices, for this computer.
1. Computer Name: Administrator
2 Computer Name: My E-mail account, the active account I am using
How to remove the listed Administrator Account since it is not needed, and no longer active?
So I was selling my computer to my grandmother, and my dad took it over to her house to set it up. He somehow managed to completely lock everything down. He created an account for her, but we never once were able to log into it. But he also deactivated me as an administrator.
So now I have my computer back, and I am trying to set up the accounts, but I cannot do anything as I am no longer an admin. From what I have gathered, im up the creek without a paddle!
How do I create an administrator account without an admin accoutn already in place?
How to become administrator if your using a guest account, I lost and forgot my password in administrator and can't access to my files, my problem I need to retrieve my files, I can't download any application because they ask password administrator. What can I do? . I'm using windows 8 OS.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI make my acc there because i have a problem with admin/standard, I made my local user to standard and one other to administrator and this user amdin i cant see in the switcher users what can.

I have a 2-month-old Dell Inspiron 15 notebook running Windows 8.0, and trying to upgrade to 8.1. I have plenty of HD space and 4GB memory. I have 2 user accounts, one with admin designation. I want to change the admin to the other, but I cannot. When I try to change the user accounts, I get a message requiring the account with admin to OK any changes.
When I enter that account's password, I get a message that the password is incorrect. I changed the password in the "reset password" site online, but that password doesn't work in the change users part of the PC. So I am stuck. Right now, I cannot affect any changes to the system, because that requires the OK of the admin user account, and that in turn requires a password, which seems not to match the password that I entered for that account.
I only have one account on my computer, which appear to be "Build-in Administrator". I can do everything on my computer, but the only thing that I can't is open all the programs that It came by default when you install the Windows 8 Pro (messaging, music, new, photos, videos, weather, reader, skydive, sport, store, camera, travel, games and etc).
Every time I tried to open one of them it says:
"Photos (or any) can't be opened using the Build-in Administrator Account. Sign in with a different account and try again".
Accidently deleted my administrator access and i really dont know what to do , I did try almost everything but i just cant use it anymore , I cant restore because i need the permision but i deleted it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe in-built account on my laptop has been somehow disabled and now I can't install any programs as it keeps asking for admin password even though it is disabled and I can't seem to re enable it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI purchased an HP Notebook PC 2000-2c20NR last week that came pre-installed with Windows 8. Somehow - I think it was when I was trying to change settings to where I do not have to give a password everytime I log in - I became lost as the Administrator. I am the only one who uses this laptop.
So, now I am stuck, unable to change settings, install/uninstall programs, etc. Everytime I try to change something, I am given this error screen:
As you see, it asks me to type an administrator password, then click Yes. The "Yes" option is greyed out and disabled. I have tried everything I could find to change this, but in order to make any changes, I have to be the Adminstrator (which I am), but this error screen pops up with any and everything I do. I have even tried a System Restore/Recovery, but I can't, because the UAC will not let me continue as Administrator.
The status of my account currently names me a "local user."
I have Norton Internet Security 2013 installed and no viruses, etc are present.
I have created an administrator account with a setup (apps & settings) that I would like to use as the default for all local standard users
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been using this build, which is equipped with a Crucial SSD and Windows 8.1, for about a month now. When I try logging into a standard account, my system's speed is on full display, logging in in barely 2 seconds. But on an account with admin privileges, logging in lags on the post-password screen for 20+ seconds before loading "Welcome" and the desktop. This is the only variable that causes the problem; local vs. Microsoft linked account, or Task Managaer startup processes enabled vs. disabled are not causing it. I've read that removing Gigabyte bloatware fixes the problem, and while I do have a Gigabyte MB, removing its software did not fix this problem for me.
