Accidently deleted my administrator access and i really dont know what to do , I did try almost everything but i just cant use it anymore , I cant restore because i need the permision but i deleted it.
View 1 RepliesI recently deleted a user account, and clicked yes to also delete all associated files...the user was successfully deleted, however, the user's folders/files remain, and cannot be deleted. Is it possible to associate that user's folder with a new user's login? If not, what needs to be done in order to delete the remaining user folder?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a new XPS8700. I have been unable to download the Windows 8.1 upgrade from the MS Store. My first problem was a lack of Windows updates, which I did, and now I can see the 8.1 upgrade in the store. I can also download updates to other aps.
My remaining problem is a continual notice every time I hit download that I need to first log into an account with admin access. Best I can tell, this and other forums have shown me how to add Admin capability with the Command prompt. I even created a second account and did the same thing. Within the User Summary screen within control panel, both USers show "administrator". Yet I still cannot get access
I have tried "net user administrator /active:yes" as well as tried same with swapping my name for administrator
The actual "administrator" user cannot do anything within the App Store. That appears to be what is supposed to happen.
Is it possible to remove the initial admin account and user profile (not the built in elevated) that is setup when Win 8 1st starts?
--After creating a 2nd admin account and logging into it I try to delete the initial one but a UAC comes up asking me to use the initial account to do the delete.
Here is what I did:
install Windows 8
setup initial user account: name it Acct1 with local admin privileges.
restart computer, login to Acct1.
open CP, add user account: name it Acct2 with local admin privileges.
restart computer, login to Acct2.
via CP, chose remove account.
A UAC pops up asking to use Acct1 for the delete procedure to delete Acct1.
If I select "no" there is a return to the selection screen.

The reason I am trying to delete the account is I do not like the c:user(profile) and account name.
I've been using this build, which is equipped with a Crucial SSD and Windows 8.1, for about a month now. When I try logging into a standard account, my system's speed is on full display, logging in in barely 2 seconds. But on an account with admin privileges, logging in lags on the post-password screen for 20+ seconds before loading "Welcome" and the desktop. This is the only variable that causes the problem; local vs. Microsoft linked account, or Task Managaer startup processes enabled vs. disabled are not causing it. I've read that removing Gigabyte bloatware fixes the problem, and while I do have a Gigabyte MB, removing its software did not fix this problem for me.

Every time I boot up it automatically takes me to a temporary profile with the same name as the previous one that i deleted and because its a temp profile i cant access most things, and believe me I've tried everything (system restore, hidden admin) but nothing will work and i just want to create a new user and forget that one, is this possible or will i have to reset my pc?

I have made a new admin local account and have deleted the old admin local account but when I go into C:/Users the deleted user account files are still there. When I go to delete these files, a message comes up telling me that I don't have the permission to delete these files. I have read online and searched alot but came across no fix. I have tried turning of windows features, then I tried deleting the files through command prompt using rd /s /q but still no luck. So basically the problem is that the computer is running on win 8 and the folder 'Users' located in C: was copied to disk D: and then deleted from disk C:.

Now when I go to 'start' there are no 'my music' 'my documents' etc, instead of that it shows '<No Text>' and doesn't open up. (Although when I scroll over the "<No Text>" (there are 3 different ones) I can see bars popping up 'Access letters and etc documents', 'View and organize pictures', 'Play music and other audio files'.)
I tried system restore 3 times to 3 different earlier restore points - nothing happened. How to fix this without having to reinstall OS?

He created an account for her, but we never once were able to log into it. But he also deactivated me as an administrator.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI only had one account on my Windows 8.1 Pro Update 1 x64 computer. Then I messed it up when I changed rights. Now the computer boots up and I can log in but as a user.
Most of the suggestions I read require admin rights which I no longer have. I can't create a new account or edit the built-in admin account but I keep getting the error 5.
So Should I try to boot in safe mode with DOS prompt and hopefully admin rights?
Would a system restore work? I do have recent restore points but will I be able to restore if I am not the administrator?

I was cleaning my system of useless files and I seemed to have mistakenly deleted the Guest account folder in C:Users
I have tried scanning for file errors on system in all the ways I could think of, restarting computer, turning guest account on and off, both of the previous 2 combined, re-installing all windows updates and searching for an online solution but still when I try to log in to the Guest account it says something like "Could not load account". I cannot restore system to an earlier state as I have done quite important things on this computer.
Looking for Guest folder packed in an archive so I can use that to replace it?

I have a 2-month-old Dell Inspiron 15 notebook running Windows 8.0, and trying to upgrade to 8.1. I have plenty of HD space and 4GB memory. I have 2 user accounts, one with admin designation. I want to change the admin to the other, but I cannot. When I try to change the user accounts, I get a message requiring the account with admin to OK any changes.
When I enter that account's password, I get a message that the password is incorrect. I changed the password in the "reset password" site online, but that password doesn't work in the change users part of the PC. So I am stuck. Right now, I cannot affect any changes to the system, because that requires the OK of the admin user account, and that in turn requires a password, which seems not to match the password that I entered for that account.
I only have one account on my computer, which appear to be "Build-in Administrator". I can do everything on my computer, but the only thing that I can't is open all the programs that It came by default when you install the Windows 8 Pro (messaging, music, new, photos, videos, weather, reader, skydive, sport, store, camera, travel, games and etc).
Every time I tried to open one of them it says:
"Photos (or any) can't be opened using the Build-in Administrator Account. Sign in with a different account and try again".
The in-built account on my laptop has been somehow disabled and now I can't install any programs as it keeps asking for admin password even though it is disabled and I can't seem to re enable it.

Somehow - I think it was when I was trying to change settings to where I do not have to give a password everytime I log in - I became lost as the Administrator. I am the only one who uses this laptop.
So, now I am stuck, unable to change settings, install/uninstall programs, etc. Everytime I try to change something, I am given this error screen:
As you see, it asks me to type an administrator password, then click Yes. The "Yes" option is greyed out and disabled. I have tried everything I could find to change this, but in order to make any changes, I have to be the Adminstrator (which I am), but this error screen pops up with any and everything I do. I have even tried a System Restore/Recovery, but I can't, because the UAC will not let me continue as Administrator.
The status of my account currently names me a "local user."
I have Norton Internet Security 2013 installed and no viruses, etc are present.
Coming from XP, I am trying to get oriented to Windows 8. What has me confused is how to control the passwords of Users.

So my question is, can I tun that so called "Microsoft Admin Account" to behave just like built-in Administrator one so I don't get those annoying prompts ? If not, is there a way to make everything on my PC run as Admin ?

Windows 8 pro: I have a user account with admin rights. It used to work fine till one day, after rebooting, I had no tiles in the start view. I ran chkdsk and it seems to have fixed the problem but now when I run any application as "Run as administrator" I get: Windows cannot find '[The exe]'. Make sure you've typed the name correctly, then try again.
If, however, I run the same app as normal and it works - thus the exe exists and there is no problem with the app itself. (Also check in the file system)
If I create a new user with admin rights I get the same issue.
(The other old user with admin rights are working fine.)

View 6 Replies View RelatedI mistakenly deleted the contents of a user's account folder and was unable to replace the sub-folders manually or by pasting empty ones from another account. If I try to use the account to save files, I just get an error message saying that the folder xxx or file path doesn't exist, depending on where I am trying to save them. This is not just a long filename error and I am afraid that I have caused problems for the user that would affect any Windows 8 account he opens in future, because of Microsoft syncing.

Would like to check if it is possible to allow a particular software to be run as Administrator, even when I am using a "standard account", without the need to enter the administrator password everytime I open it? Essentially like making an exception to allow the software to make changes to system while in a standard account.
Reason being, I am using a Standard account, but do not know the administrator password. But there is this particular program that I am required to use, but everytime I open it will prompt if I would like to Run as Admin.
