givin to me by a friend started having problems about a month or 2 ago after a put in more ram. i went from 2 to 6 and even upgraded to 64bit os. the top of the BSOD sometimes says "MEMORY_MANAGEMENT" other times it says"BAD POOL HEADER". it only happens at startup and only once or twice then after that its fine as long as well i keep my computer on. so is there a way to fix this.
View 1 RepliesI've tried to upgrade from Vista Ultimate 32 bit to 7 Ultimate 32 bit numerous times now, all with the same result: a BSOD during the install process, which I get during (what I think is) the final step called "Transferring files, settings and programs."
The installation compatibility test warns me about my Nvidia drivers, which I've attempted to both remove and upgrade to the latest version, but that doesn't seem to make a difference (I still get the warning during the compatibility check, and I still get the blue screen). I'm not sure that's even the problem, either. I can't (easily) remove/replace the video card, since my mobo doesn't have onboard video, so I'd hopefully be able to avoid having to do that.
The error in the blue screen is a nebulous "REFERENCE_BY_POINTER" message. The technical information is "STOP: 0x00000018 (0x00000000, 0x86478030, 0x00000002, 0xFFFFFFFF)."
As a zip file, I've attached the setup log, error log, compatibility report, and what I think is the setup dump file, all of which I found in C:$WINDOWS.~BTSourcesPanther (I believe that's the right place to look). The logs complain about BthMig problems, which I think has something to do with bluetooth, but I don't have any bluetooth peripherals. I've uninstalled things that I thought might have some bluetooth things in it, like MS Intellitype (maybe a stretch), but again, no difference.
System specs: AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+, on an Asus M2N SLI Deluxe, with 4 GB of ram, and an Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT. The hard drive I'm installing (upgrading) on has about 100 GB free.
I have been having an issue with this computer. Ive had it for a couple years, not to many issues until now. I randomly get a BSOD. I cannot pinpoint the cause! All drivers appear to be updated.

While using my Windows 7 Ultimate x64 it occasionally crashes with BSOD and then reboots successfully. I almost always does so after resuming Windows from sleep or hibernate. It also sometimes freezes completely and I have to force reboot by powering off and on. I am attaching a zip file following the posting instructions.

About a week ago I updated my computer to Windows 7 Ultimate. Since then, 90% of the time, when I boot up the computer a black screen appears on my screen and no desktop shows up. I can't do anything like get to to a task manager but the computer works fine in safe mode. Strangely, if I leave the computer for a couple of hours the black screen disappears and everything works perfectly.

I've build a computer and want to install windows 7 x64 on it. But when I start the setup I allways get a bsod: Most of the time with this error: 0x00000124. I also had these: 0x0000007F, 0x0000009C, 0X0000007E, 0x0000000A

Mobo: MSI P45 Diamond
CPU: Intel core 2 Quad Q9650 3GHz
RAM: Kingston HyperX (KHX1600C9D3K3/6GX), I've put in 2 X 2GB in slot 1 and 3 atm.
HD: 1 Maxtor I, 1 Maxtor II (tried seperatly, no success)
Graphics: Powercolor radeon HD 6850 PCS+
PSU: OCZ ModXstream Pro, 600W
The files are loaded from the DVD, then I see the windows logo. After that I usually get a BSOD. Right before I have to do the settings and create partitions. Very rarely I can get past it and start the installation, but then a blue screen comes up anyway. When I try in Safe mode, it loads drivers until driver.sys. Then it just stops.
Right now, I've put only one memory stick in (2GB) and I tested it with memtest86+, there were no errors. I also checked the hard drive for errors. I was able to successfully install windows 2000 professional.
I also tried to install Windows XP, but that didn't work either. Could it be my graphics card? If so, what can I do about it. I don't have onboard graphics.
I present a dilemma and acquire some assistance with anyone who is tech savvy in computers. Before I describe my problem, I just want to let you know that I have searched for this error and received no solution. But, I believe I have narrowed down what the problem is and I have a strong feeling it has something to do with or revolving around my graphics card(?). I have a report that I saved in my notepad here after the BSOD and it states that it will help describe my problem but I cannot locate it within my computer files(?) (Doesn't show up.)Any game I try to run will crash randomly, even with the settings on low, so I figured it's graphics related(?) I hope anyone can decipher this, it's very confusing and certainly frustrating. I've just installed a new hard drive and a fresh copy of Windows 7 Ultimate x64 on it, and I just received two BSODs within minutes of each other, citing ntoskrnl.exe withSYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION on BlueScreenView. View 3 Replies View RelatedTrying to do a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate on brand new pc .
Initially I got quite a way through the installation then it came up with an error saying the computer closed unexpectedly and had to restart to continue installation. I had got my monitor connected to the nvidia gt 9500 via divX.
Said Ok, pc shut down, then restarted with exactly the same message. Read up on the Net and said that it could be the nvidia card, so got to device manager and removed drivers so it had to use standard vga drivers and switched to the vga connection on the graphics card (I dont' have onboard graphics on my motherboard).
Well, now it doesn't have the old problem it has a new one. I am booting straight from the dvd drive and it lets me get to the Windows install page, I select custom install and it gets to anything between 2 and 72% of expanding the files (second stage on list) and then it blue screens with various errors. the last one being this:

Have tried ringing the tech support from where I got the pc but they say they don't support windows 7 yet. CD that has come with the pc for the motherboard says that it is windows 7 ready (but that probably doesn't mean anything).

I have a new Toshiba Qosmio X770 laptop with Dual 120 Gb SSD drives. From the factory it had Win 7 Home. I upgraded immediately to Win 7 Ultimate x64. I set up the VM to use XP (Have to use XP because current dev projects with work are stuck in old ages on XP for the time being). I can run the XP Mode in VM fine and even Visual Studios functions fine. There is a problem with the 3rd party drivers for the USB comm boards we are using, the USB drivers apparently cannot be shared across the VM environment for the particular ones we are using.

The program is still running and stuck at 21% but after waiting 3 hours I shut power off and Vista was reinstated. Why can't I get past 21% Expanding Windows files? I want to use the upgrade because I have a ton of programs on my Vista and don't want to spend days reinstalling them.

"This installation disc isn't compatible with your version of Windows. To upgrade, you need the correct installation disc. For more information, check your computer's system information. To install a new copy of Windows, restart (boot) your computer using the installation disc, and then select Custom (advanced)."
Now, I double-checked all the system requirements and the system is compatible with 7.
Today I began installing windows 7 ultimate on my laptop. However, I grabbed my ultimate N disk instead of my Ultimate disk. is there a way to upgrade to normal ultimate version. I have setup windows media center on every tv in my house and would like to have it on my laptop lol. Windows will sometimes load to the desktop and I am able to watch video, run windows score, check email, etc before it will BSOD. Other times, it will BSOD before getting to the windows login screen.When I use safe mode, it logs in and stays there - no BSOD.I have tried removing all extra hardware in the machine, however this has had no affect. I have also tried one stick of RAM, then another, both BSOD.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am writing this right now because after the last BSOD it said "Windows can not start" and I had to restore to when it was previously working. So up until that point this is what I did.Since working with computers almost my entire life I know most BSOD are due to either bad memory, drivers, or bios. I started there and updated my nvidea drivers but it happened again. I moved to the motherboard bios.I did find a newer one on there and using ASUS tool I flashed the BIOS. Same thing still happened. Next I ran memtestx86 for 8 hours and it returned no errors.At this point I just decided to look for newest drivers for everything. One thing that happened consistently was that my wireless USB adapter from Cisco had to be unplugged and plugged back in for it to work. I went there first, reinstalled the drivers but still the same thing. I thought maybe it was my hard drive. I downloaded Seagates Utility tool and ran all the tests and they all passed fine. I ran defrag just for good measure along with windows version of the mem test and that passed as well. I still continued to get the BSOD and I have to tell you I'm irritated and also stumped.
Next I moved onto software. I have been using AVG free for years but I know virus programs do some crazy stuff and I got rid of that. Turned on windows defender. I decided that since the wireless adapter didn't work after these crashes maybe lets just go to a direct wired connection. I disconnected the cisco wireless adapter and I'm just using a direct connect right to my router.These come at random times.. nothing I do can trigger it. It can stay on for days and not crash and then there are times it can be up for 10 min and crash.Some of you might notice that in the CPU-Z screenshots I had to take the screenshot with the error underneath. Every time I chose either of the two slots it crashed the program.I have not done anything internally besides add some neon to my computer which does not connect to the board at all.I have seen IRQL blue screen once so I even went as far to go into the power settings for windows and make sure the usb and everything never went into any kind of "standby" mode.
I believe this is still under warranty and I would like to go in with good information if I need to challenge and get new hardware if that's what it is.On a side note I have not touched the memory physically. I know some suggestions were to reseed the memory and chip but In my opinion something that has been working for months that never moves off my desk and is never basically touched besides the power button shouldn't mean something just came loose after 4 months of owning it.Again that's just my opinion. I have removed AVG, Ad-Aware, Some webcam motion detector software (which was a joke) and the only thing that was really installed was Skyrim.

This started happening last night while i was playing Borderlands 2, it has happened at idle, playing just about any game in my library, during downloads and just browsing the web. I changed all of my accessible drivers, and it continued to happen, so i moved all of my personal files onto my external HDD. I re installed windows on my SSD (did not reformat) and reformatted my HDD. I re installed my drivers, re-enabled SLI and it ran fine for about an hour, just downloading WoW, and then happened again twice.

As far as I can remember the first time I had a BSOD was on the day I installed Max Payne 3 (I read somewhere that the some guy had also this problem when he installed max payne). There were two occasions that I got a BSOD upon starting Max Payne 3. But lately I'm getting BSOD when doing low-load stuffs like browsing with no other apps opened. I've already done memtest with 10 passes with no errors. I'm 24 hours prime95 stable. I just don't get it! I've manually set my timings for my ram. I'm not doing any overclock. Everything is on stock settings.

One BSOD is DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE (ntoskrnl.exe) and the other is UNEXEPECTED_KERNAL_MODE_TRAP (ntoskrnl.exe).I have this problem across 15 identical laptops with fresh installs of Win 7 Pro 64Now my guess is this will boil down to a BIOS upgrade, but if there are driver conflicts within these dump files
