View 6 RepliesI am trying to locate a PCI-X card to be used in a HP Proliant DualCore computer to get higher resoultion on my monitor (not for games). Some people say that PCI cards will work. Most say that PCI-E will not.Since I am using Windows 7 and the PCI-X cards are supposed to be the fastest, how do I find a PCI-X card with Windows 7 drivers? I also heard that a card designed for XP might work in "compatability mode", but have no idea how to do this. Will this whole thing boil down to finding Windows 7 drivers for a PCI-X card?

I just got a Linksys WMP600N Dual-Band PCI adapter card, so it was recommended that I purchase a Dual-Band Linksys wireless router and it looks like these models are the starting points.

My new PC is in another room and I'm using all of this to connect it to the internet.
I've backed up Windows through the official Windows Backup tool (in the Control Panel) to a hard drive (actually, a second partition). It takes about 8-12 GB (don't remember correctly). Then, right after that, I chose to make a backup also on a DVD, and, surprisingly, one DVD was enough! First of all, it's weird that it could fit into one DVD while if I tried to burn the files form the backup on the hard drive, I would need at least two. And then the second thing: the files on the DVD all take about 3.4 GB. I tried making an image of it though Alcohol 120, and the MDF file takes about 3.4 GB. ImgBurn couldn't make an image, because it's a multiple session DVD. So why is there such a difference in size between system images backed up to the hard drive and a DVD? Can I trust a DVD?
By the way, I tried creating backup with Arconis True Image (I don't remember true name) and Norton Ghost 15 to a hard drive, and their images take about 3 GB. So if the real size of my system image is about 3 GB, then why did Windows backup on HDD take so much place?
It's Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit, by the way.
Are there any "significant" differences between the ATI Radeon 6850 and 6870 graphic cards? I am considering purchasing the ATI Radeon 6850 graphics card. However, I am told that the 6870 is a superior card. I would like to see a side-by-side comparison of these two cards before making a decision. Does anyone know of a website that provides such a comparison?
