Homegroup Password Lost Re-enter New Password And Program States Its The Wrong Password?
Mar 21, 2011I am attempting to setup Homegroup for first time on new computer, I was asked to set a password. The first pw was only 7 letters. It was rejected as requiring 8 letters. Attempted to re-enter new password and program states its the wrong password.When I go to the homegroup page there is no link to see and change password.

Nov 19, 2010I recently changed the password of my admin account on my computer but when I then tried to log in with the new password it didn't work, i even tried my old and it didn't work either. I also have a guest account which i can access without any password. Is there any way to solve this problem from the guest account, without having to reinstall the whole windows? By the way, I don't have admin privileges on the guest account and I'm running Windows 7 x32 if someone wonders.

Sep 12, 2012I haven't signed on to my laptop that I bought from former co-worker of mine (really savvy with computers) in a few months and I've forgotten the password to log-in. There was no animosity between us after the purchase - he ended up quitting and getting a job elsewhere. I have a Dell Inspiron 1720 with Windows 7 Professional. All though, as evidenced from the bottom of the laptop, he did upgrade the OS at one point from Windows Visa but I am not sure which edition it was. I downloaded the Password Reset Wizard via from my parents home computer on to a new/unused USB flash drive. I clicked on the appropriate drive, typed in a new password, typed it again to confirm and typed in the password hint. After doing all of that, this error message came up "An error occurred while the wizard was attempting to set the password for this user account." Did I do something wrong? And at this point, I am stumped. I haven't been able to get in touch with the former co-worker. Should I call Microsoft and ask for them to send me a Windows 7 disk, buy it online (saw the cheapest price on Newegg for $139.99) or should I try a Windows password recovery tool?

Aug 11, 2012I recently spilled coffee on the key board of my Dell Inspiron 1545 Laptop and believe it shorted the keyboard. I have a new laptop I would like to migrate over the docs and pics I have on that laptop to, but I can't get past the Windows 7 password stage because my keys that I need to use to type it don't work.Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can reset my password or log in without a password? My mouse still works, so if I can get in, I will have no problems. Also, I tried connecting a USB keyboard and for some reason the keys don't work on that either. IE) both the laptop and the usb keyboard only have the backspace, and space bar that work.
