I changed the hard drive in my Sony Vaio FW51ZF from a 500gb to a 750gb and when I try to restore from the recovery discs I made when I purchased the machine (I made 3 sets just in case!) it restores the recovery partition and I think drive C but when it says remove disc and restart to restore programs to drive C, I get a recurring error message saying "Windows could not complete the installation. To install Windows on this computer , restart the installation". The only thing that is different is the hard drive size, but I kept the C drive partition to the factory default size.

I have been trying to remove the (trial version) of TuneUp Utilities 2012 from my computer for over 3 weeks. My computer was hesitating and slow to respond to mouse clicks. So, I took a look at this program that cleans up old files, but, decided not to buy it. Mostly out of fear that this was another attempt to create a problem and charging a fee to fix it. The TuneUp Utilities file has been on my computer ever since. I have already uninstalled the program from my Control Panel and I tried Revo Uninstaller Pro (free version). It removed itself from Revo but not from my Program Data files. Another form of web deception where you enter the problem name to a list and they remove it from that list you just created. I can move it around but not into the recycle bin. What is this thing? How can I not have permission to do what I want on my own computer? XP would never do that! Please help me remove TuneUp Utilities 2012 from my computer.I am using Win 7 Pro w/XP mode, SP1, 64bit, i7, IE9.
Errors: You need to provide administrator permission to change these attributes. You need permission to do anything with this file. In fact, I have been using Win 7 without permission ever since I upgraded to it one year ago. My computer still hesitates and is still slow to respond to mouse clicks. The TuneUp Utilities Company is very cooperative though. If you ask the company (aka TuneUpMedia) for help they will eventually sell you another download that will not remove it either..After many emails they will do anything but that. I can uninstall it from my control panel but not from here:C:ProgramDataTuneUp SoftwareTuneUp SoftwareTuneUp Utilities 2012TTUSvclrt.tt or TTUSvc.tt

Is it better to have all such programs installed in the Program Files on Drive C, does the installation being there have any positive effect on the program? Or will the program be the same if I were to install it onto my second SSD?

I installed Tune Up Utilities, used it for a while, then uninstalled, using Windows 7 Manager instead. Anyway, I uninstalled it, and I even used Your Uninstaller 2010 which deleted all extra reg entries etc, but for some reason my recycle bin still says "TuneUp Undelete", and who knows how much other crap is left over. I restarted and still there.

I have a tablet on my desktop pc and it's working fine but i have all this stuff that I don' need.
1. When I click (put pen down on surface) i see a little animated circle.
2. When I click in a text field it automaticly displays a little keyboard icon on witch I can click to open virtual keyboard and type stuff.
3. After first click there is slide-out keyboard always present on the left side of the screen.
So my question is: Is there a way to disable all this "helpers" so I could have my tablet behave like a regular mouse. Where and what should I look in control panel?

I have the 64bit RC, and keep it updated through win updater. When I want to upload a picture to a website, I click on the "Browse computer" button, when I do the window opens for me to navigate to the picture ... as normal, however all it does is freeze, and then goes into (not responding) mode? I have tried it with Firefox and IE, both do the same so its not that, and I have done it on numerous sites, so its not the site?

My workplace upgraded our OS from Windows XP x32 to Windows 7 Enterprise x64. Since then whenever I want to upload a file that is larger than 300kb to our EDMS server (web based), I always got timeout. I installed windows virtual pc with windows 7 x32 (I didn't installed any software on it except firefox 4) and tried to upload the same file, I still got time out. I was using Internet explorer 8, firefox 3.1, and firefox 4. They all gave me the same result.
More information: Server: Windows 2003
IIS - Apache/Tomcat
EDMS Software: Java
No more support for the software since it is an old software Desktop PC: It's already been customized by our computer tech support and I don't have admin right to the desktop computer I've already tried in my virtual pc:
a. disable IPv6
b. disable autotuning

I've found 2 rather general purpose tools/utilities, that is: ShellMenuView and ShellExView for editing the CMIs in Windows 7. So, I got some questions.
1) Are there any "better" tools than those 2?
2) Are there any tools which combine Shell and Shell Extension editing in only ONE tool?
3) Are there any Win 7 build-in tools (Command line or GUI)?

I swapped out the MB, CPU and memory in my rig. I did not reinstall windows 7. I was pretty impressed that this worked as well as it did but I have one nagging problem... The network upload speed has suffered a lot. It's not just throughput but the initial "connecting" handshake seems to take a while. For instance, if I go to one of the speed test sites the download is fine. It starts up immediately and is steady at around 20mbs. When this is complete it takes between 10 and 20 seconds for the upload test to start (just says connecting)... and only uploads at .5 to 1mbs. Historically this has been immediate and much faster? After much searching I found that disabling windows management instrumentation in msconfig restored my upload network connectivity. In a speed test the download didn't change, but after that was complete the upload started immediately and was around 5mbs.I disabled/re-enabled this several times to make sure that I got the same results. Is there any way to "fix" WMI without wiping/reinstalling? That's my last resort.
Other info
MB upgrade was from a ASUS p5qse2 to ASUS p8z77-vlk
CPU went from Q9550 to I7 3770K
Troubleshooting went in this order:
bounced router/modem
bypassed router
reinstalled network adapter
disabled/reenabled windows firewall
disabled wmi

This all started whenever I wanted to change my text size different by changing my DPI settings. What I did was right click, go to screen resolution, and clicked on "Make text and other items larger or smaller". From this I changed it to 100% from 125%. I noticed it had changed my font size to the 100%. It then made everything SUPER small when I changed my theme settings.Whenever I right click and go into personalization settings, I do the usual customizing to my likings. Since I want to save the theme, I do so by naming it, blah. Now I want to use the blah theme by click on it, and I do so. Everything is fine and dandy until I right click my desktop to refresh(out of habit). This is the before and after of the font sizes.
Before
After
My workaround was to set a custom DPI setting, log off like it prompts me to, then changing it back to 100%, again prompting to do so. It is so annoying to do so.
