Unable To Download Xp Mode In Windows 7 Professional
Mar 6, 2010
I am not able to download xp mode in windows 7 professional. Every time I go and click the "Download XP Mode" button it comes up with this "Windows Validation Required" screen. So I download this windowsactivationupdate.exe and then run and install it. However, once I go and click the xp mode button it asks me to install it again even though I just did. I don't know why this message is coming up in the first place because I have activated my copy of windows and didn't do anything illegal to get this copy of windows. The only thing that I can think that could cause a problem is that I used to have this copy installed on my desktop before I switched my desktop to enterprise so I could use professional on this.

I'm running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit in bootcamp on a MacBook Pro 13". I installed XP mode but the version that installed was XP 64 bit. I would like to install XP mode 32 bit so I can run Splinter Cell and a few other older games. Is there a way to load XP mode 32 bit under Windows 7 64 bit Pro?

Ordered a Dell Vostro configured specifically to run XP mode, along with Office 2010. Have received machine, recognize Office isn't installed for XP. Have reviewed several threads addressing issue. My question: I didn't want to purchase Office to run on Windows 7. Our server runs on XP, so that would be useless to me. Can't I obtain a license for what I purchased?

I have installed the 32 bit driver for my Minolta 1300W. I can print happily in XP mode but I don't seem to be able to be able to use the printer in the Windows 7 host (64 bit Pro). Should I be able to see it as a printer if I attempt to print a document in Office? Launching the application doesn't help.

I just bought my Win7 64 bit Professional (student account, woop woop).
Unfortunately, the provided direct DL (Microsoft's) is moving at dial-up speed (40-50 k). I tried looking for a torrent of the ISO, but it was to no avail. Any suggestions on a site to lessen the time of my ISO download?

About a year ago, a friend bought a Windows 7 Professional upgrade installation disk off of the Microsoft store. At the time, they thought they would only need the 32 bit disk, so that was all they had downloaded.I am now looking to upgrade their computer to an older one of mine which has Vista installed. Now that they will have a machine which supports 64 bit, I would like to upgrade them.

I am coming across a problem with installing Windows on my new build. I am unable to install Windows 7 or XP on my new build. I own a Windows 7 Professional 64-Bit Disc and the XP Disc is from my old PC. After choosing to boot from my optical drive, I receive a Windows Boot Manager scree that tells me that Windows has encountered a problem communicating with a device connected to your computer.
Status: 0xc00000e9
I have tried the following:
► Rebooting my PC and only having my SSD connected to my MB (no beeps)
► Rebooting my PC and only having my HDD connected to my MB (no beeps)
► Trying both of my HDDs connected to my MB (no beeps)
► Having both of my HDDs disconnected. (no beeps)
► Trying to install Windows XP, but I received a similar error (no beeps)
► Changed the SATA mode in my BIOS from ACHI to IDE - (my pc then made loud, rapid, and continuous beeps)
Do I have to send my drives back for an RMA or is my MB bad? Everything is powering on, but I do not know what the problem is. ould it be my SATA 6GB/s cables?

However when I try join the domain i get the following message:"The following error occurred attempting to join the domain "MYDOMAIN"The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted. If I do a nslookup it resolves the domain controller, as well if i watch the traffic I can only see UDP traffic on that IP, however i can still browse the web from it?

I have win7 on C drive and WinXPsp3 on D drive. Drives are separate. You can see full specs below.
I boot into XP on D fine. I can also boot into Win7 on C fine, but here is the catch. The computer wants to go into a chkdsk if I boot into win7. If I let the computer do this it goes through a very long process and when it comes out of that process it reboots and goes through its normal procedure.
But then when it gets to the very last step, the step where it shows the wallpaper, icons and taskbar, all I get is blank screen.
If I boot into safe mode I can see everything. If I boot into safemode with networking I can see everything. As a matter of fact that is how I am typing this message now.
What do I need to do to get my computer to boot correctly?
Here are my specs:
Desktop:
Drive C: W7 Home Premium 80GB NTFS (IDE)
Drive D: WinXP Pro sp2 80GB NTFS (IDE)
[Code].....

When I turn it on, it loads the compaq screen, then says "windows is loading files". It then attempts to take me to the startup repair screen, but cannot load the startup repair options and just stays at a blue screen (NOT the blue screen of death).
I am unable to start the computer in safe mode as it gets to the same screen and does the same thing.
I have accessed the boot options screen and loaded windows from the disk in an attempt the repair it that way but I can not restore the computer from an earlier point in time and startup repair does nothing but search for problems for hours with no progress.
Im running windows 7 home edition 32bit The computer is a compaq presario CQ42

I have a Dell inspiron 4010 laptop with Windows 7. I am unable to log on. The safe mode options screen keeps looping, and i am unable to boot. none of the safe mode options work, though the screen shows the loading windows files before restarting the safe mode options screen again. when i press f8 to get the advanced boot options, the system repair option is no longer there (it was there yesterday, but the system restore or system repairs didn't work), nor do any of the advanced boot options work.when i choose to disable automatic restart on system failure it appears that windows is startingbut then goes to a blue screen that says STOP: C0000135 The program can't start because %hs is missing.I believe this is happening as a result of an automatic Windows update.

I have an old printer (Brother 1430) attached to my new PC running windows 7 via the LPT1 port. It works well in Windows 7 but I am unable to print from XP mode.
I have installed the drivers into XP mode and it seems to be recognised by XP but no luck with printing. Have tried a USB connector but again no success.

I have a Gateway desktop running windows 7 -64. While the system was powered on with no activity, it shut down and started to re-boot. Now every time I try to start the system it gives the message 'Reboot & select proper boot device or insert boot media and select'. From this screen you can't do anything. I'm not able to start in safe-mode either. I can get F12 to work to get to boot manager.

I have an HP laptop, and here are the specs I know:
HP G72 Notebook PC
Intel Core i3 2.4 GHz processor
4 GB ram
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OS
Recently I was streaming a TV show off of sidereel.com and firefox froze. I switched to Internet explorer and began to watch again, but the computer began to make a "dinging" noise occasionally. I then ran a norton anti-virus sweep which turned up only a few cookies. After this, I watched lectures from my school's class that I had downloaded, and during this time, the computer froze and became unresponsive. I turned it off manually, and it has not been able to restart in normal mode since then. Every time I try to login, after I put in my password, it goes to a blue screen and says "System_Service_Exception" and then it restarts itself.
Occasionally it doesn't even make it to the windows login, and freezes at the "HP" screen in the beginning of startup.Around the same time that this problem manifested itself, there may have been a new Windows 7 update that my computer was running in the background on its own.I think the problem may be more related to the windows update than to other issues, but I have tried going to a system restore point (coincidentally, the only point available might be a restore point created by the windows update). I have no other restore points available, but I am able to access my computer in safe mode.
