I just bought my Win7 64 bit Professional (student account, woop woop).
Unfortunately, the provided direct DL (Microsoft's) is moving at dial-up speed (40-50 k). I tried looking for a torrent of the ISO, but it was to no avail. Any suggestions on a site to lessen the time of my ISO download?
About a year ago, a friend bought a Windows 7 Professional upgrade installation disk off of the Microsoft store. At the time, they thought they would only need the 32 bit disk, so that was all they had downloaded.I am now looking to upgrade their computer to an older one of mine which has Vista installed. Now that they will have a machine which supports 64 bit, I would like to upgrade them.
I am not able to download xp mode in windows 7 professional. Every time I go and click the "Download XP Mode" button it comes up with this "Windows Validation Required" screen. So I download this windowsactivationupdate.exe and then run and install it. However, once I go and click the xp mode button it asks me to install it again even though I just did. I don't know why this message is coming up in the first place because I have activated my copy of windows and didn't do anything illegal to get this copy of windows. The only thing that I can think that could cause a problem is that I used to have this copy installed on my desktop before I switched my desktop to enterprise so I could use professional on this.
i m using Microsoft office 2007 but when i use Microsoft word i use it for finding synonyms but i dont find it synonyms option is not working.which version of Microsoft office shall i download for windows 7 professional?

I am using Win 7/64 Pro and need to upgrade to Enterprise. The MSFT sites are extreemly slow downloading the trial version. Finally downloaded a Image file but it states that it is missing files on installation. Tries many times to download the trial from MSFT but at their upload rate it would take a month to get it. Any suggestions on a alternet site to get the Trial or a actual disk image that works? I have the activation code for 10 machines and I need to get three of them up ASAP.
Using WIN7 64 bit and Thunderbird. Have just Installed PC Tools Internet Security 2011 and every time I download emails - very slow to download and I get the following message popping up.[Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE) [nsIMsgCopyService.CopyMessages]" nsresult: "0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://astoolbar/content/astoolbar.js :: PCTAS_MoveEmail :: line 1438" data: no]
i'm having trouble with my dell laptop. My download speed is freakishly slow! On my other laptop, my download speed reaches 100KB/s which is normal for my internet speed (1MB). My new speed reaches 5-15KB/s. I actually upgraded from XP to 7
I have checked my DELL Latitude 6500 laptop running WinXP Pro using the Windows 7 upgrade advisor tool, and everythihng is a go. I also know that I need to do a good backup of my critical files and the pictures I want to keep.I have had many people tell me that before I make such a change in operating systems, do a backup first, because Windows 7 requires a clean startup, because there is no upgrade from XP to Win7.Is there an easy way to keep these work related files, and .jpg pictures using a simpler backup process than the software backup program called Acronis?I have also read that there is a program that will run at the same time as Windows 7, like a separate operating system called XP Mode. As I understand it, XP mode runs in a separate window on the Windows 7 desktop, much like a program, except it's a fully functional version of Windows XP. In Windows XP Mode, I think you can also access your computer's CD/DVD drive, install programs, save files, and perform other tasks as if you were using a computer running Windows XP.I am not sure Acronis can be installed on this DELL Out-of-Warranty Win XP laptop, if I am currently using it for my desktop with Win 7 Ultimate. Once the critical files and .jpg photos are saved on an external hard drive, can I bring them back onto the laptop on the same harddrive with the new operating system Win 7 files, or do I need to partition the laptop harddrive, or does it matter if I use them with Win XP Mode?
I tried to do a Repair Install following this tutorial, but the Compatibility Report says:"Windows 7 Professional cannot be upgraded to Windows 7 Professional. You can choose to install a new copy of Windows 7 Professional instead, but this is different from an upgrade, and does not keep your files, settings, and programs. You'll need to reinstall any programs using the original installation discs or files. To save your files before installing Windows, back them up to an external location such as a CD, DVD, or external hard drive. To install a new copy of Windows 7 Professional, click the Back button in the upper left-hand corner, and select "Custom (advanced)"." I have Win 7 SP1, but only a Win 7 disc without SP1.
i am rather excited I am doing a downgrade from Windows 7 Professional OS to Windows XP SP2. The machine i am doing the downgrade is an HP 500B MT, I am using the HP Restore Plus DVD that came with the machine as well as the Operating System CD. I started the setup yesterday and it seems to be taking forever!
The last three weeks my Windows 7 computer when I download a file it goes at 9-10 Kb/sec. I have a dish and normally it downloads at 5-900Kb/sec. My laptop when I download a file, downloads at usual number(575 Kb/sec). Windows firewall if off, no virus on, I have tried everything from reloadiing Flash Players (11). a 2.90 mb file will download in 10 minutes. before seconds. Please give me a way to go. Ihave called Wild Blue three times, and literally, after ten minutes they hang up on me. I bought a group of people from India that will fix everything! for 166 dollars. They tried the best. all that happened isthat they took me off of being ghe Administrator so that they can get in into my computer(I won't mention their name). My router is Airport Express, which up until now it has ran flawlessly. I have reset router. No joy.
I have AT&T DSL internet service and I'm using their 2-Wire 2701HG-B modem/router plus all my phones lines connected to a phone or Sat receiver have their filters installed on them. I'm subscribed to their 3Mbps plan but for quite awhile now I've noticed very slow internet speed.Going to Speedtest.net - Results or Speed Test | Bandwidth | Broadband Internet Services I'm getting download readings as low as .23Kbps to 2.73Mbps (the latter very, very seldon) with an average of under 1.0Mbps.AT&T did a ping or something and can tell I have noise on the line so they say it's probably either the router or one of the phone lines so this morning a tech dropped off a new router (same brand/model) but I can't see any improvement. When the tech came the other day he hooked up his small modem from my phone line to his laptop and ran a speed test and it was consistently 2.5Mbps.So are there any settings on my modem/router that could be slowing things down?
On my friend's Toshiba laptop, when we connect to the router using a LAN cable, the download speed is around 15 Mb/s. When we connect wirelessly, the download speed is about 1 Mb/s, although sometimes it goes as high as 4 Mb/s. I've already tried uninstalling/reinstalling the wireless driver.
On 4/19, I downloaded a game from wildtangent and my pc became extremely slow to the point of crashing because pages were taking so long to download. I unstalled the game (using Control Panel) on 4/21 and though uninstalled, still had the same problem. On 4/21, I attempted to use System Restore to restore my pc to a date before the game download BUT the earliest system restore point was actually 4/21, including my checking the box to "choose another restore point". Win XP would save restore points for one to two months prior, with Windows 7 it's anywhere from one to a few days and in this case, the same day. WinXP was the best of the Windows versions and Windows 7 has been nothing but problematic. My pc with Windows 7 is a year and a few months old and Windows 7 has been one problem after another. Restoring to factory settings will wipe out everything on my pc so is there a way to restore my pc to before 4/18/2012?
I used to have an Acer laptop until the screen cracked about a week ago and I replaced it with an HP Pavilion. When I was using the Acer laptop, I never had any problems with my college's wifi, but a few days after I switched to the HP laptop I noticed a decrease in browsing speed. This decrease was extreme if the page I was trying to load contained images/videos. Additionally, my download speed was horrific, at about 9 KB/sec. Lastly, I have had trouble connecting to the network, with my computer telling me it can't connect several times before it connects. I uninstalled Java, disabled firewall, uninstalled antivirus programs, cleared browser cache, which helped a bit. Then, oddly at about 8 PM last night, the browsing/download speed of my computer returned to normal. However, it is as slow as ever this morning. I'm fairly certain the increase in speed was due to the fewer number of people connected to the network.
So today my friend and I, who live in the same country, was downloading this file.It was around 6GB, which is irrelevant, but yea. It was from the same site, we have the same internet, yet he was downloading with 2.6MB/s while I was downloading with 1.338MB/s and it stayed like that for the remaining 40 minutes. Didn't even move at one point, while his went from 2.1 to 2.6 over 10 minutes. Worth noting, we use the same ISP, he only have 25/2 while I have 50/5, and I could easily download 2 files with the exact same speed (1.338MB/s each but not 1 with 2.6MB/s or more. There's also a client downloader, for this game, where he again got 2.6+ whereas mine always stayed at an amazing 80-180kb/s. I tried disabling anti virus, firewall, Malwarebytes, nothing changed it. I know you're thinking it's just the seeds or site that is limited to an x number of download speed, but it really can't be the case in this. It happens with every site I try. It's always at 1.3xMB/s and never moves regardless of how good it is.
I honestly don't remember, but I don't think this happens when it's a .torrent file, using programs like uTorrent with good p2p. It happens in all browsers, and apparently game client downloaders.I can download 5 different downloads at 1.3xMB/s using all of my available internet, but when it comes to a single file, it for some reason, is impossibleI'm not complaining about the download speed, but it just seems like there's something wrong. My downloads also have a habit of failing in chrome after a few minutes, for no reason. That only happens from some sources though.
This is my first post/thread on TH.Anyways, I Just recently bought a laptop for HS, about half a month old. Everything Ran fine , Until My computer decided to not work anymore.
I did a system restore from a repair disk and fixed, the only catch, norton reinstalled. I had uninstalled norton and when I did a system restore, the program probably sent it's server a "scam" alert as the program didn't respond after, So I had to uninstall it manually, removing the files and all the registry entres. Now, week later, I notice that my computer is downloading EPICALLY slow. My speed is 11mbs, on my alternate computer, it will download a 11 mb file in less then a second, but on the laptop, 25 minutes? No way is that possible.
I did some registry scans, with wisecare 365, fixed the registry and download time has come down to 13 seconds, which is still crazy long,
i just brought this belkin wireless usb adapter N150 and it is giving me slow download speed. I checked on Speedtest.net and it gives me 0.20 mbps. It is not going to the max speed my max is 3.00 mbps it is not the wireless usb adapter because i checked on another computer and it went to the max 3.00 mbps and i putted it in the same location as my computer so than i realised that it was my computer that is giving slow download speed and it can't find much connections so i tryed it on another computer and it found heaps of connections any idea how to fix this? Plus the signal is excellent. I think there some thing inside my computer that is preventing it from finding lots of connections and making it have slow speed? Maybe it the hard drive im not sure . i just started using wireless i used cable before.
