I have read through the other posts regarding this topic, and cannot find a solution for my particular situation. The mouse I use is a LogiTech M325, but when I go to the mouse settings, it does not find it. This problem is getting so bad that I have almost stopped using this computer.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Sony Viao which does not have a disc drive and came with Windows 7 ready installed (installation was done automatically along side the process of starting computer up for first time after purchase). I cannot remember my administrator password which in itself has caused many problems; to get around this, I think I need to re-install windows - but to do this as a function on the computer (i.e. through the 'recovery' option on 'Assist' button/function) I must access it as an administrator. I think I need to reinstall manually through command prompt, can anyone tell me how to do this? Or do they have any additional advice?
I don't have a Windows 7 disc (I've seen the 'creating a bootable USB installer' videos etc, but these seem to require a disc with windows on from which the USB is made, which I don't have!) Hence I think I need to go through command prompt...
My computer literacy is not very good and I am, to be honest, at a loss of how else to get around this problem(and I would rather not spend a massive amount of money I don't have sending it to a PC shop, if i can help it)...the computer itself is not old (it was brought in August 2011) and already once or twice there had been an issue with Windows were an error occured and it appeared to 'forget' windows existed (box appears saying "operating system not found..."), I switched it to 'safe mode' and restarted it and the problem appeared to correct itself but...
Please help! The problem is fairly urgent! I am also worried that it has a virus as I haven't been able to install new anti-virus software (requires admin password for installs etc) and hence I would like to correct the underlying problem of having no administrative authority to correct other problems asap!

I have noticed that rec task is scheduled hourly in task scheduler but cannot fine any indication that it has a notification button. I can, and do, mute the speakers for most of the day but when listening to audio/movies the sound comes through the speakers loud and clear.

On Vista i used to scroll up and down using my touchpad however on Windows 7, that function seems to have disabled. On Vista there also was a touchpad setting where i could set my touchpad functions, but which i can no longer find on Windows 7.
When i installed Windows 7, i understand that i cannot carry over all the sony vaio programs onto Windows 7 (because my laptop is too old apparently) but is there anyway to adjust my touchpad setting? I have always used the touchpad scroll function and it is kind of annoying not having it.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI recently reinstalled Windows 7 on my laptop. Prior to formatting, the mouse was working PERFECTLY. After formatting, the mouse is acting much differently. I am using the Synaptics software just as I was before I reinstalled Windows 7, and the mouse pad is MUCH more sensitive than it used to be when my palm hits it. If I type anything in the QWERTY row, my palm never fails to tap the mousepad and it screws everything up (you know how it goes).
I've gone into the Synaptics settings and changed palm check sensitivity and everything else on there that I think would help, and nothing does.

I have no idea what to do, there may be a registry value that can be changed to do this in the same way that adding two to the value at HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Keyboard\InitialKeyboardIndicators turns NUM lock on at startup or there may be something completely different. I tried following other threads to fix this but my situation seems to be different. I tried downloading new drivers but the message I get says there aren't any drivers for this notebook with this OS. There is nothing anywhere on my computer that says Synaptics which I thought I had before the upgrade. I have Mouse Properties with tabs that read: Buttons,Pointers, Pointer Options, Wheel, Hardware. Nothing about a touchpad at all.
