Repeating Sound Every 20 Seconds After 5 Updates?
Jan 6, 2013
(These were the optional updates)The 5 updates:- Bing Desktop v1.1- Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems(KB2574819)- Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems(KB2592687)- Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems(KB2709981)I unstalled all 5 of them but 1 din't reappear in the windows update program. This happened before and I used system restore to fix it back then, and now I uninstalled them, And I'm sill hearing this retarded sound whenever i'm watching a video or listening to music.Heres the thing, my screen freezes for only a few seconds then keeps going and always here a sound the repeats inself by 1 second.when ever it freezes, it randomly freezes through 1-5 seconds, you could say its picking the amount of seconds it freezes and sounds. The last update started with the word "Intel(R)" and System restore won't work now,

The 2 updates are:Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4 on XP, Server 2003, Vista, Windows 7, Server 2008, Server 2008 R2 for x64 (KB2656351)and Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4 on XP, Server 2003, Vista, Windows 7, Server 2008, Server 2008 R2 for x64 (KB2600217)Both are indicated as successfully installed in WIndows update history, but immediately after the install has completed, Windows Updates indicates these 2 updates must be installed! One final bit of info that may, or may not be useful. The only new piece of software I have installed recently is the Dragon Naturally Speaking product from Nuance. It seems to have a Common Software Manager service that now runs in background but I have no indication that this is linked to the WIndows Update problem.

This is really strange. I have an ASUS X53E laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. I use it with an USB Dell keyboard and USB mouse. One day, without warning (I always wanted to use that phrase), the laptop started to send a lowercase letter Q to any command line window open.I thought it was a problem with the USB mouse and changed it. But the problem continue. Every time I left the laptop alone for a couple of minutes, when I return using the keyboard of mouse it start sending a 'q'.

win 7 keeps repeating process of installation; w/o cd inserted "no boot device recognized" appears though WD Caviar Blue 320 GB HD is there. In DOS, no installations of Windows are recognized and attempts to rebuild MBR through CMD Prompt shows successful.Only 2-3 sectors of HD test showed bad sectors of 150 or less...shouldn't prevent clean install?

Don't really know how to describe this too well, and I wasn't able to figure out how to take a screen shot that includes the mouse cursor otherwise I'd show you.. but sometimes I come back to my computer and the cursor is just the very tip of the pointer tiled in heights of maybe 3-4 pixels all the way down to where the cursor would normally end.

So first I get this message when I mouse over the speaker icon(notice the red "x" on the icon). When I click the icon, Windows does a diagnostic and then this shows up.This is whats listed in my playback devices and this is with "Show disabled devices" enabled. Everything is enabled,Here is a picture of what my device manager looks like.
I've tried installing drivers for my sound card and my chipset, I tried restarting my computer, updated from my device manager, uninstalled drivers, reinstalled, etc. I've been searching online for a bit and nothing I found worked so I figured I'd give this a shot. I tried uninstalling the service pack update but that didn't work.

windows 7 x64 on my laptop (intel core i5 @ 2.50ghz, 4 gb ram) has recently started freezing for a few seconds every few seconds, when i'm doing just about anything: browsing the web, copying files, using text redactor, etc. only the mouse cursor responds, control is back after a couple of seconds.
* the behaviour remains the same when booting in the safe mode
* there are no cpu or memory usage peaks in process explorer
* there are no hardware conflicts in device manager
* there are no critical errors in system log
* there is no antivirus active
* hardware tests (memory, etc.) do not report any errors
i suspect this has started after i've updated all the drivers from manufacturer's site, but i am not 100% sure. anyway, i do not know which driver has caused this and i cannot easily restore to the previous state.

I have a month-old Dell Inspiron N7010 Core i5 460M with 6 gigs of ram running on Windows 7. Until recently, it has been starting up in about 75 seconds. However, out of nowhere, it suddenly began starting up in between 2 and a half minutes to 3 minutes. I am completely baffled, and I do not know what is wrong. Could it have been something I installed, or is it something that is beyond my knowledge. The last things I downloaded before the problems started were Starcraft II, Need for Speed World, and Microsoft Security Essentials, but I doubt one of those is the source of problem.

For the past day windows wants to install the same 4 updates over and over, I have windows update set to download and let me choose when to install.
I can't understand why I even need them, as I uninstalled net framework. Notice how the update at 8:17 AM., KB2656368, is the same as one of the 4 updates installed at 7:47 PM. Windows wants to install the same four kb files again. How do I stop this?

My computer tower has begun recently making a "clicking" noise on Restart/Shutdown and I am having trouble finding out if it is my HDD or my PSU making the noise.
The weird problem is, it doesn't make the click noise on a fresh install of Windows 7, and also does not make the noise when I installed Ubuntu linux as a test.
It only starts making the click noise on a restart/shutdown after installing Windows updates.
Other than that, my PSU and HDD both perform as if they were brand new. I am having no power issues, and my HDD is reading/writing perfectly fine and has passed both diagnostics and surface checks. EDIT: I seem to have found the culprit, it was a faulty and outdated AMD SATA controller driver provided by Windows update. Installed 11.4 AHCI SATA controller and the clicking has now stopped.

For a while now I have been experiencing a strange problem. My laptop keeps changing the Windows Updates without my consent. I know this has been raised in the past but my problem is slightly different.I prefer to choose "Check for updates but let me choose whether to download or install them", however periodically the settings change without my consent to "Never check for updates".This is very frustrating as I am constantly having to keep an eye on this, and change the settings back to what they were in order to receive critical updates, or indeed any other update. The laptop was bought new just under 12 months ago and came with Windows 7 Home Premium 64Bit pre-installed.Has anyone else experienced this, or can anyone advise on a fix?

i've had this pc for a year almost now and it just started to freeze at random moments for like 10 seconds, but after that it return to normal. it can really be annoying while watching Internet or something the sound gets really irritating. the picture stays the same, and after few seconds it just quickly rewinds in few pictures.
pc config
cpu : intel core 2 quad cpu q8300 2.5ghz
mother : asrock p43de3
memory : xms3 (ddr3 2x2gb)
graphic : ati radeon hd 5850
supply : cx600 corsair
if anybody can help i would be grateful.... and yea i think (but im not 100% sure) the longer the pc is up and running the more often it will happen... and it happens while im watching Internet most of the time (or any streams). it doesn't happen while i'm playing any video games or anything like that (maybe it does but it is rare).... and it can happen while im on desktop just copying some files any that.

So lately I've been getting lag spikes every 30 seconds or so. They last no more than 1 or 2 seconds, but they are incredibly annoying. For example, I will be typing, scrolling, clicking something, or watching something and it will completely freeze for 1 or 2 seconds, then suddenly jump to where the screen is supposed to be (like to the tab that SHOULD be showing if I clicked on a different tab during the lag spike) [code] Everything was fine. One day I restarted my PC (I usually set it to sleep at night, but this time I had to restart) and after that I noticed the lag spikes. The only significant thing between then and now is probably reinstalling TESIV Oblivion but I do not see that being an issue. These lag spikes are not related to my web browser, as they happen even when I do not use the internet. However I DO NOT GET ANY LAG SPIKES WHILE I AM PLAYING A GAME. When my PC is dedicated to running a game I do not get any lag spikes at all. They only happen on the desktop / internet.

I think its the CPU or the RAM, My CPU is i5 3470, and RAM is Kingston 1600Mhz 4x2GB the bios set my ram to 1333 for some reason when Installed the win, I set it back to 1600 manually. and it freezes after a few hours repeatedly. here are my CPU-Z screenshots of CPU,Memory and SPD tabs, tell me if something's wrong.

I hope I'm posting this in the right sub-forum....! I've been having lag issues for about two months and I'm getting pretty tired of it.The basic problem.I get lagspikes of between 300 and 1200 ms every 20-40 seconds and this is consistent regardless of what I am doing.
[code]...
There is no apparent link between the lag and CPU or memory (RAM) usage. So I've ruled that out because these stay at the same level even during the lag.I should add that all the relevant drivers are up to date.
