Program Crash While Using Japanese Input?
Aug 2, 2010
I am using Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit and I'm confronting a quite annoying problem while trying to use the Japanese input. This is what happens, I switch on the Japanese input from the language bar, then I select the hiragana alphabet. It seems to be working properly if I use only hiragana pressing Enter after each word. But if I try to use kanji, after pressing Space, when I try to select the one I need from the scroll menu that shows up, the program I am working in freezes saying it's not responding. The program can be closed at the 3rd click showing that window with "Check for a solution and close the program/Close the program/Wait for the program to respond" and at the details it has a "Problem Event Name AppHangB1".This happened to me while working in Microsoft Office, Mozilla Firefox, and even in Notepad or Yahoo messenger. Though, it seems to be ok in Internet Explorer.I tried to reinstall the the Japanese language, but nothing changed.

Occasionally when a program crashes the last sound playing, whether it be part of a sound effect in a game, a small part of a film from a media player, or even a standard windows sound effect, will recur endlessly after the program has been closed until the computer is restarted. The sound is not displayed on the windows mixer, although it displays clearly on my dedicated sound card's audio levels display.
I have tried disabling and re-enabling the relevant sound devices, switching between onboard audio and dedicated audio, and attempting to restart the windows sound services, however I have found nothing aside from a restart that will actually rid me of the recurring sound (things such as entering/exiting sleep mode do not help, I have not tried to hibernate the computer, but if I'm going to do that I might aswell just restart properly).

I've been working for the past week to try and figure this out :*( please help me out, don't ask about the name, couldn't get it to take any normal names at the time.
I don't know exactly what is happening with my computer but since the guild wars 2 beta weekend my computer would freeze make a very loud scratching sort of sound than the client would crash. At first I figured ok its just beta something isn't happy with my system, I figured it was just that cross fire wasn't optimized for the beta and that my 5970 had some cross fire structure to it with the dual gpu. Than while playing Sniper Elite v2 it happened again, not to the full extent of the loud noise but still there was scratching. After each time the games would crash all my other programs would crash as well, and when they did work they would be screwed up. I would try playing music and it would sort of work than have the static or scratching sound again, occasionally a beeping sound.
I have my audio drivers up to date and I have tested it out threw my screen speakers and my razer megalodon usb head phones. I have checked for a new mobo bios and haven't found anything new for it, I than checked to update my graphic drivers and brought them up to 12.4. I don't run anything but the drivers due to it making my system very unstable. I than did a complete wipe, did 8 passes over both my base hard drive and my 1 tb hard drive. Fully updated windows and my drivers again and I am still experiencing the same problems. I have my video card over clocked to 900 core clock and 1200 memory at 1.137 volts, its stable as can be. I also have my cpu over clocked to 3.7 ghz but I have never had a issue with it either, they both have been at these speeds for the past 2 years. The temps are all with in more than safe temps and I have just recently cleaned the entire computer.
Just finished doing memtext86+ for 5 passes and came up with 0 errors, I have also checked inside my event viewer logs for any critical events and can't find any.My system specs according to speccy:
Operating System
MS Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
CPU
AMD Phenom II X6 1090T
Thuban 45nm Technology
RAM
[Code]...

I read through a few threads with similar topics but the issues were either not quite the same and/or resolved comparatively easily. I am trying to repair a 1.5 year-old HP Pavilion running Windows 7 Home Premium 64. This machine is used as the main office computer in a small doctor's office. In spite of my warnings, anti-virus software was not installed until it was too lateThere was a major issue about seven months ago that required another company to repairThe problem is explorer.exe will not run. Double-clicking a shortcut on the desktop, clicking the text name of a program from the Start menu, and even in the cmd results in the same response, a dialog box pops up stating windows explorer has stopped working.
windows is checking for a solution to the problem. followed by another box stating windows explorer is restarting. But the requested application never starts. I have run the Ultimate Boot CD 4 Win, replaced the hard drive and cloned all data, run numerous registry scans, malware scans and antivirus scans. Initially removing over 1500 virus/malware hits and over 1400 registry errors. But the main problem persists, explorer.exe won't open programs.

I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate, the whole kit and caboodle.I setup my personal computer the exact same as my fathers, but for some reason, despite installing all the same updates and blah blah, I can't get the Japanese Kanji to display ON the computer Chrome displays them just fine, but my music is all boxes, rather than Kanji..Yes, I installed the Japanese Display Language, but when I go to swap to it, even IT shows as boxes, rather than Kanji..The same problem extends to Korean, Chinese (both), Russian and a few other packs.

[code] When I select Japanese from the Task Bar language setting, anything typed in the Japanese language is incorrect. That is, the kana characters that appear are not the ones I typed. The Japanese keyboard appears to be incorrect.I have read many forums about this problem and can only guess the Win7 version I have is not compatible with the language pack I installed. Is there any chance there is some app available for download that will solve this problem? Perhaps I should also ask if there is a Japanese word processor, free version preferred, available I could use?My basic need is to type in kana, that is hiragana and katagana.

I upgraded a Win7 Professional 64 bit system to Ultimate, then downloaded Language Packs in Chinese and Japanese. Now I am able to switch between Display Languages as expected. But after my last return from Japanese as Display Language to English, I find that Windows Explorer shows date information in Japanese, and IE uses Japanese as its language. Yet the Desktop icons have English legends, and the Start menu is in English. So there is a mixture of languages. Is there a way to eliminate Japanese completely? Should I uninstall the Language Packs?

About 1/3 of the time Japanese characters in filenames, itunes, etc do not show. They show the square boxes. The characters show in the internet browser all of the time. Restarting the computer makes them work again.I can turn off my computer, turn it on the next day, and they will work. Then I can turn it off, turn it on the day after that, and they won't work again. Also, in the volume mixer, applications have the same squares at the end of the word

How do I make use of these letters from Korean / Japanese language in Windows 7? I intend to make use of those texts as an avatar name of some sort to any forums. Not that I'm not satisfied with the alphabets we're using now. I just wanted to learn how to use these texts also to begin with.

Even though the Meiryo & Meiryo UI (Japanese) fonts are enabled, they still shows up as little squares in word documents(notepad, etc.) and in song titles(iTunes, Winamp, etc.). However, I can view and type Japanese just fine in web browsers(Chrome, IE, etc.)
Here's the weird part, when I open up the fonts window and click "hide" for both Meiryo and Meiryo UI and then click "show" to enable them, once I restart the computer, I can type and view Japanese just fine...for that session. Once I restart the computer again, the problem returns(they're still enabled), and I have to repeat the process.

But, some programs that I have loaded will only display in Japanese. Mostly this are the programs from Asus.
I have sent several mails about this and have heard nothing from them. So I was wondering if anyone has had this problem and knows how to fix it?

Lately I've been getting Japanese kana (I think) substituted for english characters in some song titles in Windows Media Player, Nero, and PowerToGo CD ripping software. It seems the computer thinks I want Japanese, where available, for the extended info it gets for music CD's. So if I put in a CD to rip, say, Mozart's Magic Flute opera, the London Records Solti/Vienna Phil version, WMP will show track info in kana characters, like this:, or somethine kanji, like this:I can't seem to figure out why it's doing this. Also, lately WMP library has begun substituting other cover art for various albums, so one particular album cover photo appears on lots of unrelated albums. Don't know if that's related, but WMP seems to be a POS

can't seem to find a way to permanently fix it. The problem is that Windows 7 doesn't display Japanese fonts and instead just displays squares. I've tried deleting the font cache and letting Windows rebuild that. Worked for about 2 restarts and then the fonts weren't being displayed anymore.I've tried changing the system locale (for non-unicode programs). That fixes it but I get yen symbols instead of forward slashes in file paths, as well as other symbols being replaced. Creating a new user account seems to fix things but I'm the only one that uses my computer so having another account and having to select my own account on login is annoying. I have the Japanese keyboard added as well as Microsoft IME.I've found that just restarting a few times normally gets the fonts to display correctly but most times that I boot up the fonts aren't displayed correctly.
Specs:
Windows 7 Pro 64bit (had the same problem in 32-bit W7 Pro)
8GB RAM
i5-2500k @ 3.3 GHz
Programs where fonts don't display correctly: uTorrent, Foobar, windows explorer
And before someone mentions language packs and the Ultimate version of 7, no, I don't want to change my input language. I would just like to display Japanese. This can, and has been, done in the professional version.

One of the applications I use shows Chinese and Japanese text in jumplist as squares. This is happening only on one computer. I tested it on some several other (32 and 64 bit) computers and it is showing everything correctly. The computer that it is not working correctly is running 32bit version of Windows 7 Ultimate. All computers are running English version of windows 7.

I am trying to do a Windows 7 reinstall from my Samsung Recovery disk, as I have a Samsung laptop. I have received the infamous "windows could not format a partition on disk 0...Error code: 0x80070057" error. Through researching this forum it seems the diskpart program is used to troubleshoot. However, the program only displays English from the command lines or numbers (i.e. - 465 GB).Everything else is displayed as Chinese or Japanese characters. Is there a way to change the language to all English?
