i can't add a file to my usb external drive shared , attached to "popcorn hour a100" (multimedia drive on linux) from my desktop ( WIN 7 64 bits)this drive is in ntfs and 2 T sized ..i have always the message ' you haven't autorization ....' same thing when i try to modify : properties/security/change autorizations.... by Filezilla , to change permission on it?
View 7 RepliesProblem Description: I boot up my PC, everything works fine, after an hour or so, my D (Secondary internal drive) disappears and the system has to be rebooted to find it again. Note, this happens whether or not the drive is currently being used.
Note: The drive always appears in the BIOS.

Steps I've taken to try and solve the problem: Initially I thought the drive was simply being unmounted, so i attempted to mount it again using disk management. However the drive won't appear there either, nor will it appear in system information or Seatools. A disk rescan won't reveal it either. I later, tried to use SeaTools to find out whether or not there was something physically wrong with the drive, but the drive passed all the tests. Peculiarly enough, when the D: drive disappears it also disappears in Seatools. Thirdly, I checked my power settings to make sure i hadn't had some timer for the hard drive to shut off. Fourthly, I checked the bios settings to make sure there wasn't some sort of power policy conflict there as-well. Lastly, I scanned the disk for errors with the windows (with both options to recover bad sectors and fix errors checked) and rebooted. (The problem still occurs) I will be trying to turn off the bios's plug and play settings next, and see if it will work better if i should let windows handle the device detection.
Run-as local admin doesn't quite work. I also started the initialization process then gave the drive back to the user to finish formatting in NTFS. However, the HD is 2 tb and he only got to 10 mb before Windows 7 quits and shoots failed error.

For some reason my hard drive has gone nuts. It said on startup that there were bad files then proceeded to delete then restore. At the end it was removing some error security number and applying a new one to almost 50000 files. When it started back up the drive icon was gone and the square box with the little circles was in it. Then it stated I couldn't delete anything as the waste basket was in error. Fixed that manually and finally got the icon back. NOW the problem is any time I access a folder it says I don't have authority and then that damn little lock appears. I have tried the fix PER FOLDER but the whole drive is acting this way, even files that are NOT in folders state I don't have permission and then I go through the whole process and it fixes THAT file. I NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM BEFORE NOR DO I HAVE IT ON ANY OTHER DRIVE.... IS there a way to enter the proper info in ONE TIME and have it globally apply to ALL the files on that hard drive?

View 5 Replies View RelatedEver since I've had my computer there has been an extra drive on it. it was called microsoft (Protected). It has absolutely nothing on it, and it has no use. I have been trying to delete it to no avail, so I renamed it to annoying drive.
Whenever I try to access it it gives me an access denied message. It has no owner, or even permissions, and when I try to change it to me, or the admin, it gives me the same message. I went to the list of things on the computer, and I can't even find it. I then attempted using lock hunter to find out what was blocking me from changing the file. Also to no avail. It says that there is nothing protecting it.
I'm having a strange problem in Windows 7. The problem is that basically, anytime I want to copy a file to the C: (OS partition), Windows asks me if I want to continue copying a file there (I am an administrator so I don't know why it should). Also, if I want to download a file to the C: partition, it won't allow me and it'll tell me I have to save it in my username folder, not in the C: root. According to the persmissions, administrators have full control but I'm still asked if I want to copy files.I've tried assigning users to have full control but I get a series of messages like "This file is currently in use, cannot set permission" and access denied for "Program files, Program Files (x86), Windows and C:".

I have lost the ability to access a mounted drive.Previously, I would mount the drive and it would immediately open, saying it was Q: shared drive...). I have never had a problem before.The drive is from a True crypt encrypted file - I can mount the drive by entering the password to True Crypt, no problem. It mounts, shows up as local disc Q:, but when I click on it, it will not open and I get a message saying 'You don't currently have permission to access this folder'.When I follow the directions to security, and access the properties, I add my user name and tick full control but it the says:An error occured when trying to share Q, access is denied. The shared resource was not created at this time.I have also tried giving permission to 'Everyone' but the same thing happens.(This is complicated by the fact I have been having other problems today.Basically,I used HP Support Assistant to download updates for my laptop, since then I cannot open the devices and printers box - it just hangs and does not populate. View 6 Replies View RelatedA wire came loose in my laptop charger so I asked for a replacement, but the supplier was adamant that there was something wrong with the port in my laptop, not the charger (he was wrong), so they took it away to fix. Anyway, a member of their staff took my hard drive out to copy a couple of my files to a disk for me as I needed them asap and couldn't get my laptop charging. Apparently that's all they did.Today I got my laptop back and things are not right. I am the administrator and there are no other user accounts on my computer. I am recognised as the administrator when I go on Control PanelAll Control Panel ItemsUser Accounts. But now all of a sudden I can't access Music, Pictures, Videos or Documents from the start menu. It just does nothing and says nothing when I click on them. I went on 'Computer' and tried to access them from the 'Libraries' menu at the left side. It didn't let me and didn't come up with any error message. It also didn't let me see the properties of them or do any of the other right-click options. It was saying at the bottom that they were completely empty, so I just deleted them and thought I'd make new ones with the 'Create Library' option. But when I go on this it says "Unable to create the file 'New Library.library-ms' Access is denied". I tried to restore the four Libraries from my recycle bin. It came up with a message saying "You'll need to provide administrator permission to move this folder". I clicked on continue, then a box popped up saying "Destination Folder Access Denied. You need permission to perform this action". Permission off who?! It's MY computer!
When I located my files the long way (Computer - Windows (C:) - Users ... etc.), all my documents were read-only and had a padlock on their icons, so I changed that. It won't let me view my pictures (says I don't have the correct permissions to access the file location). I can copy and paste the pictures so that it will let me view the copies, but it says things like "You'll need to provide administrator permission to copy this file" for everything I try to do. It gives me the option to continue, but it's annoying me because I have to keep giving permission for things that it should just let me do.
I have 2 programs on two seperate computers where UAC comes up and asks me if I wish to run the programs. These programs do not require administrator rights (Truecrypt and iSpy) and the check beside "Run program as administrator" is not checked in either the shortcut or the actual executable file.
View 3 Replies View Relatedi am trying to create a new site in dreamweaver. the site will have a coldfusion extension (.cfm). i am the only user on my notebook so i have complete administrator privileges. however, when i try to save the site in the c:inetpubwwwroot folder (because that's where coldfusion applications are saved) i always get an error.the error says: "you don't have permission to save to this location. contact the administrator to obtain permission" i thought i was the administrator? i am unable to change the settings in the security tab in the properties panel either. that is the extent of my troubleshooting capabilities.

View 1 Replies View Relatedi have had windows 7 64bit version installed for a couple months on my pc, and these 2 days it's kept rebooting. it goes off (no shut down message, it all happens all of a sudden), and after a second or 2 the machine boots up again. before loading the os the pc prompts me to choose if i want to start windows normally. i press enter and windows starts up with no problems at all. when a system error occurs, after rebooting it usually notifies me that the system was recovered from an error. but it displays no message.
now, my question is this. i heard that before the coming out of the windows seven final version, microsoft would have you install an update that reboots your machine every 2 hrs to "suggest" people buying the os... how kind of them, really... whatever, is this possibly the case? if this is, i guess i gonna downgrade to windows vista till i can buy windows 7.

So in the past week, my computer has started freezing. After about an hour of use, the screen will freeze. Sound will still play for a while and the mouse still moves. But other than that, it completely freezes.
Ctl+alt+del doesn't do anything and I have to manually shut it down.
Sometimes if it sits for a while and I don't mess with anything it will black screen and tell me to insert bootable media.
My computer is only about a year old and I put it together myself. I have an 64 GB SSD with Windows 7 intel i5 2500k 3.3ghz CPU 8 GB of RAM EVGA GTX 570
My graphics drivers are up to date. My registry seems in order. I have no virus' showing up under my scans. My PSU doesn't seem to be overheating. Memory test in my BIOS shows fine My case has plenty of airflow HD tune pro doesn't show any bad sectors And I've cleaned up with CCleaner
Since a day or 4/5 my internet disconnects exactly every hour for a couple of secconds. I don't know how it started but its pretty annoying and i really would like some help with this problem, i searched the internet i've done a full antivirus scan couldnt find anything.

But now I've been expreriencing low fps (5-20) while it used to be 60-80, and the overall performance has been low too. This starts after about 1 hour of playing. I'm pretty sure it started after using wrong power adapter for 2 weeks. Now I'm using the correct one. I can't remember if I had the problem with the wrong adapter but I think it started after switching back to the normal. I've run virus scans (malwarebytes whole computer scan and flash scan, and whole computer scan with Avast) and they haven't found anything.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy issue didn't start till about 4 months ago. Whenever playing an online game such as Team Fortress 2 it would slow down (lag) or be choppy at times. Wouldn't happen everyday, till about a month ago, when the beeping started. It happens every hour, it is a weak beep but it comes from the inside of my computer. Also, I can't run Team Fortress 2 without it crashing every 5-10 minutes of playing. I have also noticed my whole computer has become a lot slower. I'd like to know if this can be fixed or if I should just get rid of this computer and get a new one.

Once I've played more than 1 hour of game, either online or not, it's very likely to have BSOD sooner or later. Today, I experienced this 3 times!! I've ran Driver Update and it says "Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE controller" is not up to date but I couldn't find any update for it, so I tried disable it then I can play more than 6 hours. However, after I left the computer for 3 hours and came back with BSOD again. Before I try the disable, I have error code of "Driver IRQL not less or equal", but for the last BSOD this didn't should up.
