Does anyone have a list of services that can be delayed? I run Windows 7 SP1 x64 Ultimate. I do have connection to the internet via a router out to Comcast and I am on a homegroup BUT I can sacrifice that.
View 2 RepliesAs said, Windows (7) Firewall is not appearing in the services list, and I'm getting the error code: 0x80070424 when trying to start it up, and 0x6d9 when I'm trying to access the firewall. I have no idea what so ever as to what could have caused this, and I doubt CCleaner could have done it.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to sort out issues with my Windows 7 machine and want to disable/set to manual services that I know are not needed, but every time I have done this in the past (a while ago now) I invariably run into an issue where I've inadvertently disabled a service that was needed by something, and I end up scratching my head (as all of my hair falls out around this point) and enabling everything just to sort it..
Is there any utility that anyone is aware of that lets you toggle service status, with the option to reset to default or reset to last status, while showing a list of services that I've changed?
I can't seem to word it properly for a search engine to find relevant results, and find usually specific services and not something I'm hoping exists.
I wish the Services.msc mmc had a checkbox or some sort of flag to show altered services so you could sort them by that, which would help a lot, but it doesn't.
I stayed at a hotel this weekend in Nashville and used the hotel's internet connection. While at the hotel, they had a welcome page that said, "Welcome to Nashville" where you would agree to the terms and conditions before browsing the Internet.Now that I am back home, whenever I initially launch IE9, the first tab that comes up has a title of "Welcome to Nashville"It sits there for 20-30 seconds, presumably searching for the hotel proxy. Then, it gives up and Google--which is my normal home page--launches normally. From that point forward, everything works fine until the next time I open my browser.I've already checked my proxy settings, and there was nothing added there. No errors appear whatsoever, just that initial tab name.

After boot up, I open the network and only see my own computer. I refresh several times over 5 minutes and finally the other network computers appear.
How do I fix this?
I am experiencing a delay on the windows sound when my computer boots up. The computer starts and the screen appears but the typical windows start-up sound is delayed by about 5 seconds. I know that this can be adjusted.

View 2 Replies View RelatedOn my new Lenovo V570, I've been having an issue where it takes anywhere from 30 seconds to 3 minutes to connect to my local network.It will show all the available networks in the list, and either if I wait, or if I try to click my automatic network and click "connect", it still takes a large chunk of time.This happens on all of my saved connections, as well as any public connections I try to access.I believe my wireless is run through Intel My Wi-fi, though for some reason the icon is no longer in my icon tray.

Whenever I wake my PC from sleep the network adapter does not detect any networks (can't access my router either). When I run the diagnostic tool and it says that there may be a problem with the network adapter driver. However after 2 or so minutes the adapter suddenly finds the network and connects. When I run the diagnostic tool again it says everythings fine.

After installing all the drivers I decided to play Splinter Cell Conviction and the graphics ran perfect on max settings with max AA and AF, except the mouse felt like it was delayed a quarter/half second. So basically it became impossible to aim. Decided to try Quake Live - exactly the same, but it got fixed after turning vertical sync off. Checked on world of warcraft, at some areas it's more, at some less intense, but it definitely is there.It feels like the cursor on the screen is delayed half/quarter a second compared to how I move the actual mouse.In world of warcraft there in an option in video settings 'reduce input lag'. When turned on everything is perfect, but fps drops from ~60 to ~40.It's the first time I use windows 7 x64 so I might have missed something, or maybe even installed some wrong/old drivers, or just don't know something.then trying to fix it for the past 2 days. Checked some topics on this forum, but didn't find any fix either. Really could use a hand.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSome (not all) videos which I play are having their audio delayed by 3.5 seconds and the video starts from 3.5 seconds itself(but shows as 00:00:00).I can fix this by using the setting audio delay function in MPC as -3500. This happens only in MPC. When I play it in Windows media player it works normally.I am guessing there is some problem in video encoding but then it works fine in Window media player. Most video files I have is in AVI format. But I encountered this problem in a MP4 video too. Another thing worth noticing is that when I try converting the problem files into a different format, it fails.

Not to mention nothing else worked. It was frozen, so I pressed the power button and restarted it that way,Normal, not in safe mode.I'm sending 2 Snips to show you what I think was the reason for this. gupdate is set for Auto(Delayed) start in services. When I went in there and looked gupdate was no started at either time. The first time 9:35:58am was when this whole mess started. I just happened to go back an hour later to look in Event Viewer and it was listed again and still not started with the same explanation.Would this have caused this freeze or crash and is there anything that can be done to rectify this deal? I know some people disable gupdate and everything to do with it but I do not want to get into this.

Basically it has that circular loading icon hovering over it like it's loading something, and sometimes it has a red cross over it. During this time Firefox won't load and MSE disables real time protection until the network center says I'm connected.

View 3 Replies View RelatedThere are two things which have been bugging me off for some time now: a suspicious 'Undo Rename' in the right-click context menu even if I did not rename anything, and a delayed 'Undo Delete' in the right-click context (I deleted a shortcut from the desktop and it took some time for the Recycle Bin to be filled and an 'Undo Delete' option in the right-click menu to show up).My User Account Control is set to maximum yet there's no UAC prompt to rename something. I didn't recall renaming a specific file(s) as well, all files from my desktop to folders remain "as is" or were unchanged.

Typing services.msc would only give me an error "One or more ActiveX controls could not be displayed because either: 1) settings prohibit ActiveX 2) blocked publisher. View 3 Replies View RelatedToday, my computer just finished installing updates, and was waiting for me at the user selection/log in screen when I checked on it. I powered it off by holding the power button down to change some BIOS settings. (In the end, I did not save any changes to the BIOS, so I can rule that out) After rebooting and logging in, MSE and avast both tell me that their respective services have been stopped, and WiFi is not working either (its stuck as connected, but has the small yellow triangle in the icon, it says its identifying, but its been stuck like that). Other services, such as Dropbox and RocketDock have also been stopped on my computer.I then rebooted into Safe Mode with Networking. WiFi is still not working, and now, audio service is also stopped. From here, I uninstalled all of the updates that had been installed today. I then rebooted normally.Finally, RocketDock and Audio Service are running again, avast!, MSE, Dropbox, and WiFi are not still. I'm using Malwarebytes' and avast! to scan for crap that might be doing stuff (Malwarebytes' has already picked up four positives, both scans are still underway).

That's why most of them recommend you install them on a seperate partition, and stop most of Windows' services.I don't want to install it on a different partition, What I'm trying to do is install it on a different user, but then just have that specific user NOT run a few services and startup programs.I could find a way to disable startup programs for a specific user, but I couldn't find a way to disable SERVICES for only one specific user. Services like "Task Scheduler", "Indexer", iTunes, AVG, TeamViewer, and many more that I do NOT want running on my studio user - but I DO want running on my every day user.

Yesterday it jumped and remains at 30% CPU with a temp at 40 C. Used a program called Process Explorer to find out that the svchost.exe was using up 26%. It was broken up by the following services:
FDResPub
FontCache
SSDPSRV
upnphost
It seemed like all the services were safe and required for windows run. So I'm wondering why they were consuming all this CPU usage last week and the week before, and now the sudden change. What can I do to limit this?
I was having an issue with my print spooler resetting itself to the stopped setting and manual after each reboot or shutdown. I apparently fixed that one (however, not entirely sure how I did it). But now all of a sudden, I have another service doing the same thing. My Acronis Backup Scheduler service is resetting itself to Manual from a setting of Automatic and started after each shutdown and restart. It never had an issue until yesterday. No updates to that product was done in the last few weeks. It is the most current updated software for the product.
Is there anyone that knows why and how these settings can begin doing this?
Me and my girlfriend have a laptop we share, both accounts are Admin accounts how do I start services under her account and not global (both)I want Avira Anti-Virus to start under her credentials and not mine, now initially I searched online and found how to edit the service logon Tab so it started for her - which worked initially but meant I couldnt call on (start) the service without changing it back to global - after doing just that and changing back to her account it no longer worked - to get the program to work meant dropping the main tray app into startup folder for her and doing the afore mentioned tweak on service logon tab for two services related to the app, but that no longer works for some reason the services dont start - also i would like to be able to call on and start the service myself should I wish too (when I wish to use Avira Guard) - i even tried dropping shortcut to the exe files (that are the services) into her startup folder but this does not work...
