Audio Driver Missing
Aug 30, 2011I have a gateway GT5656 desktop which came with Vista OS. I recently upgraded to win7 ultimate. I then discovered that my drivers were missing for audio, etc. I went to gateway.com and downloaded then installed the audio drivers. This seemed fine but when I went to use the front mic jack I received a message saying that I needed to visit this site and get vista drivers...Is this correct? Shouldn't I get win 7 drivers?

Mar 6, 2009I have been trying to install Windows 7 x64 for many days now always with the same problems. I have tried v7000, v7022, & v7048.
I am trying to dual boot with Vista Home Premium x86. I have a completely empty 3rd hard drive I am trying to install too.
ok so I boot from the dvd and I get the typical windows driver loading and get to the first blue screen to install Windows 7. I click install and it says starting install then it stops and says cd/dvd device driver missing. This comes along with the brouse box to locate the driver. I have looked everywhere and do not see any kind of driver available for my DVD drive.
I have a Gateway GT5628
2.40 GHz Q6600 Core 2 Quad processor - 3gb Memory
I have upgraded my video card to a BFG Nvidia 260 gtx
& my DVD Drive to a Sony DVD-RW/DL +/- 18x DRU-840A
I have 2 SATA hard drives. 1 With Vista on it and one is just full of data.
I also have a New Western Digital Cavaiar 1TB SATA Hard Drive (This is the one I am trying to install to) I am not using any of the 3 drives in Raid configuration.
I have very limited choices in my bios to do much at all and I have updated to the newest bios available from Gateway.

Jan 20, 2011about a month ago, my Windows 7 Starter went dead on my Toshiba NB250 netbook. At first I thought it was a HDD issue. I tried using downloaded 7 recovery tools to no avail, and for some reason, whatever took out the OS, took the factory installed recovery partition with it..After a few days, I was sick of waiting for the recovery media to arrive, so I tried Installing Ubuntu Netbook 10.10. It worked, so I assume the HDD is fine.The recovery media is on dvds, so it's useless to me (for some reason my BIOS doesn't support a boot from an external dvd drive). I got an iso of windows 7 starter. I've seen a ton of threads and responses where people say that the iso may be corrupted due to a bad download. Mine's fine, because it installs and runs in VirtualBox no problem.
I used the microsoft USB startup creation tool through my virtualbox installation. Thing is, whenever I try an install, I get a message saying there is a missing cd/dvd device driver. The thing has no cd/dvd drive, so I don't know what that's about. I tried copying the iso contents onto another piece of media, and did not make that bootable. I tried an install from my bootable usb, and then plugged in the usb of files. Nothing.I found this download on cnet, because I read about some guy who was messing around with his drivers to get an install to work. The cnet download was apparently only for vista, and when I put on my non-bootable media, and tried to install it when Windows asked for it, the installation told me that something was up with the drivers. Something to the tune of "contact the manufacturer for the newest software".
Windows 7 Re-Install Missing Driver Error?
Aug 31, 2012Yesterday I bought a new ASUS A55A laptop and was installing basic programs (Chrome, iTunes, Photoshop). I installed EASEUS partition manager and tried to resize the partitions. I tried because there was an error and now Windows will not boot.So.I read up on the subject: tried to active the ASUS recovery using F9, doesn't work. I opted to try and reinstall Windows using both an installation DVD and USB. Easy enough, just that I get prompted to look for the CD/DVD unit's driver.I've read various threads about it, but none of the things I've tried (different USB ports, downloading all sorts of drivers from the official ASUS page) seem to work.

Oct 29, 2011I'm doing a new OS install, using my the same Windows 7 64 install disk as before. I do have new drives, but they are just newer versions of my old drives (which died) - and they are pretty standard HP slim drives.
For some reason, the OS install will not complete. It's saying that an optical drive driver is missing, and wants me to install it manually.
these drives did NOT come with any driver cd, nor is there a driver available on the HP support site. They must be plug&play.

Using access to MSDN-AA, I got an ISO and key for Windows 7 Pro x64 (DVD - English). I then burnt the ISO to a DVD using my current computer, a WinXP 6 year old ACER laptop. When trying to do the clean install of Win 7 Pro on the new desktop, the installer starts up fine, but after choosing my language and regional settings, I get the famous "A required CD/DVD device driver is missing" error.
Here are the things I have tried, in vain:
1) Installing the various available SATA drivers from the ASUS motherboard DVD. This doesn't work and gives a "No new devices could be found" error.
2) Reburning the ISO with ImgBurn at 2.4x speed with verify on.
3) Redownloading the ISO from MSDN-AA and reburning the new ISO at 2.4x speed.
Note that I would have tried to make a bootable flashdrive of the ISO (using this guide: Install Windows 7 From USB Drive/Pen Drive ) but since I'm on Win XP on my current computer, DiskPart doesn't work in the same way. I therefore cannot do this, at least not in the manner described in that guide. Talking of DiskPart, I called up the command window in the Win 7 installer, and it shows NO drives at all. In the ASUS EFI BIOS, I have chosen boot priority for the DVD drive, and the two hard drives can be seen from there (although the SSD cannot be chosen as a priority for booting, which is weird, and possibly linked to this problem?).

Jul 29, 2010I'm trying to install Windows 7 64bit. After loading windows 7 setup from my dvd drive I get the error "Required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing." From doing a lot of research, it seems this error has nothing to do with my DVD drive but has to do with the SATA Controller Driver. So I try to load the 64bit drivers for the SATA controller and it finds them okay but when i try to install, it says something like "no new devices found". The SATA Driver(s) are the only it ever finds, except for the time I enabled Raid... Then those drivers showed up as well but with the exact same results.
From another forum I was directed to this microsoft page: [URL] and the resolution says: "To workaround this issue, disable AHCI mode for your disk controller in the system BIOS. Typically the controller has to be changed from AHCI mode to "IDE" or "ATA" mode. "
My motherboard is an Asus P5N-E nForce 650i SLI Chipset LGA775 FSB1333 DDR2 Mainboard. However, I can not find anyway to change the setting from AHCI mode to IDE or ATA. As far as I can tell, nothing in my bios allows me to change that setting... or at best it's unapparent.
Install Windows 7 Upgrade From Vista With Sound Card Driver Missing?
Aug 13, 2012Working on a client's computer that was blue screening with Vista 32 bit HP desktop gl309aa. She cannot find the original Vista install CD. I determined that the culprit was probably the wifi driver, and hoped to install updated drivers for that, plus video card and sound card drivers. After much fiddling with the system, I finally got it started through Startup Repair long enough to install the video driver. I had to go through 2 sets of memory diagnostics to start it at all, since even safe mode was not working. When I went to do the sound card driver, it required an uninstall first, so I did that, and foolishly went along with the restart to finish the process. Lacking a sound card driver, it blue screened all over again. Tried everything, including many times with HP Recovery, but every time it blue screens before any process can complete. On top of this, while working on it, she had a power "flash" for a second, and now the system is missing BOOTMGR so it won't even try to boot into safe mode or anything else. I have the drivers on flash but cannot install them. I've decided to forget Vista (awful system anyway) and give her Windows 7 instead. Much more stable, and her data is backed up in case she loses it.
am I going to have any problems installing the Windows 7 if the computer still thinks it has no driver for the sound card? And is there a way to install the file before or during the Windows 7 installation so it will go smoothly? Again, BSOD every time I start HP recovery so there is no way to use that, and we will have a new Windows 7 CD to begin this process.

And in conclusion I think I have 2 possible explanations, the first one is that the current driver (updated) doesn't support the realtek hd audio manager? (I read on someone else's post that he had to rollback/downgrade his drivers for his audio manager to appear.
My last solution is... that I don't even have the Realtek Hd Audio manager chip on my motherboard? Possible Nvidia Hd Audio? Because I have 4 Nvidia Hd Audios, and only 1 Realtek.

Aug 23, 2012how i can reinstall my main audio drivers so they stay installed and so i don't have to uninstall and reinstall them at every startup. it still says it's in use if i try to test it before reinstalling. to reinstall it i've been going to playback devices, right click properties, click properties on the new window, change settings on the next, last window click the driver tab and uninstall. then i go to device manager and scan for changes. it's really a pita DISREGARD THIS: ok so i've been trying to port audio from firefox to reaper + asio4all and found that i can do it with VAC. i first tried another program called virtual audio streaming but that didn't work. when i got VAC i uninstalled VAS first. since i've had VAC installed i can't listen to anything over my monitor's speakers (have computer hooked to monitor with hdmi). if i have "Digital Audio (hdmi)" set as the default audio device, the audio won't even start. for example if a start a movie in vlc and then realize there's no sound i can't just switch the default device to something else (usually can do this) i have to stop the video select a different device and start the video again. flash stuff online just won't play until i change the device. if i try to go to the properties of "Digital Audio (hdmi)" > advanced > and hit test it tells me the device is being used by another program. this was making me think that maybe it was because VAC was using that device to port the audio from windows or something. didn't really make complete sense but i uninstalled VAC, restarted my pc and it still does the same thing. i tried uninstalling the drivers (windows default drivers, the downloadable drivers IDT high def audio cause problems with other programs so i don't use them and would prefer not to) and restarting so they would reinstall but that did nothing.

Aug 12, 2011I have had to re-install my windows 7 home after it froze up on me several times. I then changed to windows 7 ultimate but still have the same problem minus the freezing. "NO AUDIO OUTPUT DEVICE INSTALLED" I have done all that I can think of including re-installing drivers checking with tech reports from others and so on all I find is for vista or XP. In the device manager I have an exclamation point on "HIGH DEFINITION AUDIO CONTROLLER" and the red X on the speaker symbol in the system tray. I've tried everything I can find to no avail. Also my USB ports no longer work as well. My Toshiba is model L505D-LS5007
