Windows 7 re-install driver recovery failure For one reason or another, i decided to re install windows 7 onto my Samsung 7 Chronos. Since I've had no issues in the past with re installing vista on my other machine, i mistakenly thought this would be a walk in the park. Anyway, now after re installing windows, multiple drivers have gone missing, and i cannot connect to the internet (on that machine) to allow windows to find them for me.The devices that are missing drivers are the following
ethernet controller (location PCI bus 3. device 0, function 0 manufacturer unknown)
Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless- N + WiMAX 6150 (location Port_#0003. Hub_#0004
Network Controller ( location PCI bus 2, device 0, function 0)
PCI simple communications Controller (location PCI bus 0, Device 22, function 0)
SM Bus Controller (location PCI bus 0, device 31, function 3)
Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller (location PCI bus 4, device 0, function 0)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(All of these devices have the code 28 error)
Also, My Standard VGA Graphics adapter cannot start (code 10)I have the recovery disk for windows 7, yet it failed to install these drivers. I have 1 working USB slot, which i can use to carry the drivers over from the computer i am currently using, to the one which is severely crippled at the moment.

Default settings...any customization when it comes to installing Windows though.Installed on a brand new 90GB SSD. Nothing on it at all. That was the first thing I looked at after installing the drivers and yeah, 40GB.

I am trying to load a new copy of home premium windows 7. A new partition has been formed from the whole disk and formatted The program starts to download the windows 32 files then on reboot it stalls and reverts to a load in safe mode/command prompt etc a blue screen flashes on for one second unable to pause it and read. The PC has had window 7 on before but it crashed and corrupted hence the rebuild so it is windows 7 ready.I have run all the hardware diagnostics ok they came with the Compaq PC.I have tried to install on to a brand new out of the box hard drive same problem.I have successfully installed window xp on the original disk this has loaded ok.This disk was used ok to install windows 7 originally..I am beginning to think the disk is faulty but it does download a lot of files could it be corrupt.

I had to reinstall my OS due to a hard drive failure about a month ago. When I did I used the re-installation disk that came with computer. Everything was fine until yesterday. Out of nowhere I am getting a message that my copy of Windows is not genuine. I tried system restore and used a restore point that was created right after I installed the OS. Still no good.

I just got a new Windows 7 home premium x64 box at home and I'm going through the mundane task of setting everything upIs there any easy way to copy all or some of my settings to other accounts on this PC? It is a real pain to help other family members when all of their settings are different. If I could just clone everything that would be fine or if you can only copy certain application settings that would be better than nothing.

I just seen a message popping up stating that Evaluation copy build 7601 will expire in 14 days. Some time ago I had a hdd crash and had to install new hdd. Today I restarted my main audio machine and the C drive wont bootTurns out the pcb on the drive has a burn mark... So by luck there is a identical drive in the same machine bought on the same day I unscrewed the pcb from the working drive and gave it a shot and to my surprise my data recovery software - file scavenger was able to recover all the files and folders in their native file structure....I want to now move them to the new drive and have it boot up into that system...I was wondering if I install a fresh os Windows 7 64 on to the new drive and pull that drive out of the machine and put it on the chain of the other computer that has the rescued files on it. Can I then copy the rescued files to the drive with the freshly installed Windows 7 64 on it and over write the files with my old systems files? After doing that and returning the drive to my old system will the old system boot up? Is there any tricks anyone can suggest short of re installing everything. I have a shitload of 3rd party plug ins which would take months to re instal... Not to mention my dsp audio card drivers and host environment, utils and the list goes on.If i can get this up and running I swear I will make a backup image and will never be in the same situation again...

I have a desktop with Windows 7 & a 1TB HDD, and everything is on the HDD. If I want to add an SSD & put the OS & some programs on it is there an easy way to do that? Perhaps copying all the data folders to an EHD & then making an image of the stripped down HDD & restoring that to an SSD? And then putting the data folders back onto the HDD?Or do I have to start from scratch & re-install a fresh copy of Windows 7 to the SSD?

I am currently planning on upgrading one of my PC's that has a genuine retail version of 64-bit Win7 Home Premium installed.
I am planning on replacing my ageing (E5200/P35/DDR2/HDD) hardware with fresh stuff (Core i3 530/H55/DDR3/SSD).
The way I understand it is that if I were to just replace my MOBO and CPU I could just plug my old hard drive into the new mobo and use the windows disc to repair any problems it may have. However, I am planning on upgrading to an SSD as well.
My question is this, if I make a bare metal backup of Win7 off my current hard drive onto the SSD using something like Clonezilla, and then boot off the SSD once my new system is built, will there be any issues that the Win7 disc won't solve? I don't want to get all this new kit just to find I need a new OS as well.
Anyway, I hope that makes sense.
EDIT: I should add that I currently have 3 hard drives but I only have my OS on my primary hard drive so backing up my music etc isn't an issue. The SSD I'm getting is 64GB so should be fine for Win7 Install.

I have a drive that was using PGP that has become damaged and will not boot despite trying 3 days of different fixes and repairs. I have a complete drive backup that will restore but when I try and boot after my PGP password I get 'Missing operating system'. Again I have tried decrypting and fixing but to no end.
I have another disk with a working and booting install of Windows 7 (same architecture etc) on. I have the entire contents of the non-booting system disk that I can access from the image of it.
If I booted into something like Windows Recovery or Live Linux environment, can I copy the entire contents of the non-working Windows 7 drive over the working one and expect it to work and then boot?

I already know that I need to reinstall windows 7 again, but I have 2 issues. First one is I have windows7 ultimate, and if i buy windows7 home premium will I be able to do a clean install? Second question is will the install even work on my hard disk drive? I dont want to buy it and not have it load or work properly.

I am having a problem. The OS(Windows 7 x64) finishes installing but when it finishes it boots up again like normal then flashes a quick blue screen error message. I have tried doing what the comments told you to do except for downloading the ISO and burning it to a disk. I just get the same error. I have researched this processor and it turns out it has been known to be VERY dodgy with Windows 7 64-bit.

Have set BIOS to boot from CD as 1st, 2nd and also 3rd device for good measure and although I can hear disk spinning, XP boots up rather that Windows 7 setup starting.

can we install the 32 bit version from the Professional upgrade in place of the 64 bit Home Premium with comes preinstalled? I would do this from the very beginning, so we wouldn't have installed any of our software yet, I don't think there is any bloatware form Dell that we will want. I will make the recovery copies of the 64 bit OS first, and then hopefully upgrade to the 32 bit Professional. Things are "tight", and hopefully will not have to purchase a full version of Professional.

Basically I'm ready to explode. As you know, I'm running Ultimate. I recently decided to upgrade to a 64 bit OS. I purchased a 250 gb harddrive for it. (dualboot 32 bit and 64 bit Windows 7) but my ISO file won't boot. I've tried everything. Yes, my PC is 64bit capable.

I already have VirtualBox installed and I'm at the point where I need to get windows 7 installed on virtualbox. How the hell do I do this. Apparently I am missing something because dos says "Boot Fail" blah blah blah and that's as far as I am. Do I just make a boot disc and then use it some how? Do I need other software? Maybe some basic instruction on starting a new virtualbox session. I've tried looking for the boot.ini but I'm thinking it's hidden in dos.
