I had to reinstall my OS due to a hard drive failure about a month ago. When I did I used the re-installation disk that came with computer. Everything was fine until yesterday. Out of nowhere I am getting a message that my copy of Windows is not genuine. I tried system restore and used a restore point that was created right after I installed the OS. Still no good.

A new partition has been formed from the whole disk and formatted The program starts to download the windows 32 files then on reboot it stalls and reverts to a load in safe mode/command prompt etc a blue screen flashes on for one second unable to pause it and read.The PC has had window 7 on before but it crashed and corrupted hence the rebuild so it is windows 7 ready.I have run all the hardware diagnostics ok they came with the Compaq PC.I have tried to install on to a brand new out of the box hard drive same problem.I have successfully installed window xp on the original disk this has loaded ok.This disk was used ok to install windows 7 originally..I am beginning to think the disk is faulty but it does download a lot of files could it be corrupt.

It is a real pain to help other family members when all of their settings are different. If I could just clone everything that would be fine or if you can only copy certain application settings that would be better than nothing.

This is how it all went down: I was playing a game and since my internet was disconnected, i unplugged my router and replugged it.It connected, but now the windows glass color changed to complete silver.I feared the worst and tried replugging some things fully in since some were loose. So theres all the technical information. Also, my computer came with windows installed, so i looked that up as well. There is apparently some card on the front of my system that has the Activation code,. All i see on the Front of my computer is a small windows 7 sticker, an AMD Vision sticker, and a Quad Core sticker
I am currently planning on upgrading one of my PC's that has a genuine retail version of 64-bit Win7 Home Premium installed.
I am planning on replacing my ageing (E5200/P35/DDR2/HDD) hardware with fresh stuff (Core i3 530/H55/DDR3/SSD).
The way I understand it is that if I were to just replace my MOBO and CPU I could just plug my old hard drive into the new mobo and use the windows disc to repair any problems it may have. However, I am planning on upgrading to an SSD as well.
My question is this, if I make a bare metal backup of Win7 off my current hard drive onto the SSD using something like Clonezilla, and then boot off the SSD once my new system is built, will there be any issues that the Win7 disc won't solve? I don't want to get all this new kit just to find I need a new OS as well.
Anyway, I hope that makes sense.
EDIT: I should add that I currently have 3 hard drives but I only have my OS on my primary hard drive so backing up my music etc isn't an issue. The SSD I'm getting is 64GB so should be fine for Win7 Install.
Recently a note has appeared on bottom right of screen on my laptop which says-This copy of windows is not genuine. I know for a fact it is genuine as i only purchased it 0n the 3rd December 2010. I have not had any problems with it until the note appeared on my laptop last week.

while installing 7 H.P. it gets to completing installation then freezes up after computer reboots a warning message appears stating windows 7 has failed to install and resume after reboot, and then the same warning message appears.
I tried the roll back installation option and a message flashes on and off to quickly to read.
and Vista will not come up to start over.
any Ideas on what to Do?
Every time i start my computer a black screen appears and it says your copy of windows 7 is not genuine. I can't do anything on this screen. I tried setting my computer to boot from DVD and re install windows 7 but when i do this is just ignores my windows 7 disc and goes straight to the black screen with your copy of windows 7 is not genuine. I even tried booting from a flash drive and it still wouldn't work.

I have uninstalled the malware. and I have scanned my computer with IObit malware fighter pro, and no problems. but I am still not genuine windows. then I tried command prompt, select runas administrator and type "CHKDSK C :/ R" and a message to restart my machine. and chkdsk lasted for almost one hour. then windows boot normally, but the problem is not Resolved. I then tried the command promt then type "SFC/ SCANNOW" after the scan is finished a message saying there is no problem.

It worked fine for a while and I now get the message "This copy of Windows is not Genuine". Do I have to buy a new copy of W7? If I do, can I just run a repair on the current version with the new copy of W7? I don't want to loose my setup! What do I get if I make it Genuine online?

It is genuine and activated. When I restart my computer and login and everything loads the message isn't there, but after a while the message with show up and I have to restart my computer to make it temporarily go away, so why am I getting that message and how can I make it so it doesn't reappear.

All of a sudden I have this message in the corner of my screen- Windows 7 Build 7600- This copy of Windows is not genuine. The last thing I changed in my system was adding an SSD which was about 3 months ago now, and haven't had any problems. It is on Windows 7 Ultimate and I have had it installed for nearly 2 years now(jan 2011).

A few pop-ups lead me to some kind of Windows validation where after a few minutes it came up with the message- "The product key used to activate Windows on your PC is already in use on another PC or has been blocked by Microsoft. Not to worry, we can assist you with that."
A couple of days ago, my laptop which is a few months old, started showing the message on my desktop Windows 7 Build 7601 This copy of Windows is not Genuine" and was asked to validate my Windows. My Windows 7 was pre-installed by the manufacturer and I do not have a key to validate it? I have not had any issues with it so far. I have double checked for any malware etc, no viruses present.

When I choose UPDATE in the intallation dialog it tells me that I cannot upgrade from Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Home Premium ???
Every website from Windows and other people tells me that it IS possible and even the Windows 7 Update Advisor told me that I should not encounter any problems upgrading.
Has anyone of you yet encountered upgrading problems of compatible Vista/7 versions?
Or any other idea what I can do to solve the problem?!
I know that I can make a clean intall of 7, but this would be a pain..
