I could not print with my HP photosmart on windows 7. HP have a driver now, so I plugged in the printer and started trouble shoot, it fixed it, and now I can print directly onto DVD CDs. I had previously asked HP to let me know when a driver was available, but they have not.

when i tried clicking windows update to get more drivers

i get this pop up message frmo windows saying

windows was unable to get devices list from windows update

please try again

and i've tried so amny times it keeps on saying that.

can someone help me?

i dont want to buy a new printer

cuz i've done this method before and it worked fine

but since i had system restore, it was gone

and not working now.

When I turn my printer on, a window pops up requesting that I download the appropriate driver. I click on the button, it takes me to Hp's website, my OS options are Win Vista, Win XP, and Win 2000 (?!). I have tried all three. It downloads, then I open the file and I get the original window (must download driver)!!! AGH! Has anyone found a solution, short of reverting back to Vista?

I had my P1100 colour inkjet printer for over 4 years; working perfectly under XP-Pro.

After installing Windows 7 (dual boot), the P1100 printer could not install.

HP's web site stated that no drivers would be available. As there were no Vista drivers either, I thought I had to scrap the printer.

Then I had a go of systematically installing printers from the list (Control panelSystemDevice Manager etc.)

Eventually I came to HP DeskJet 970Cse and its driver - BINGO!

The Testpage printed ok and so does everything else, including Duplex printing.

Moral - think outside the box, don't give up

I hope this may work for other printers, where no Vista or Windows 7 driver is available.

I tried to add printer but there was not an Photosmart 2570 series to pick from the windows driver list. So I tried the available 2600 series driver and some what to my surprise the 2600 series driver works..

I tried to install the HP driver for a Photosmart 3210 all-in-one printer (Vista 64 bit version) and it worked with the compatibility mode.

Now the printer/scanner works, but everytime I boot it will try to update the driver, then it fails and tell me that the driver could not be installed. What should I do?

I began to add programs and printers and when I added my HP Photosmart 2575 and then its Vista drivers. I then made another backup of the what I had added to that point. I now get a 9F stop on shutting down after I have done something with the printer as simple as printing a page.

I restored to the original installation and added the Photosmart using only the RC's driver. All is well under that setup and would like to go back to the second backup and uninstall the Vista drivers and use the RC's drivers but can't find any way to roll back the driver to RC one. If I try 'New Driver', the system seems only to find the Vista driver.

How can I delete the Vista driver from my system so that I have only the RC drivers?

I've recently built a new computer and am trying to install Windows 7 on it (Professional 64-bit full version, acquired through MSDN-AA, burned on a DVD). The installation works for a few minutes but then it tells me that Windows can't find the driver for the DVD drive, an LG GH22NS50 DVD Writer, and prompts me to browse for it. The driver is supposed to be plug'n'play, so there's no CD and I can't find it online. I don't know how the installation has worked at all without the driver, but I seemingly can't get past this point without pointing Windows to a driver.

I tried to find a work around and came across an article that said the CanoScan Lide 60 driver works..ersAndSoftwareBut the folder I got with 7-Zip didn't have the file in it that it said it should, so I tried to just install it directly.Windows flashed a popup asking for permission to install, right over where it said where it would be installed, and when I clicked OK, that other window disappeared. Now I can't find where it's installed.The article explained that I have to manually update the driver. I found the scanner in the device manager, but since I can't find the driver anywhere, I'm stumped. I wouldn't even be able to uninstall it
