Iv downloaded Student Record software from cnet today, when I use the software, fill the student page & click save, it shows Multiple -Step Operation generated, Run-time error - 2147217887 (80040e21). I need a solution urgently, so that I can use this new software I got from cnet freely at school today. My students and staff will be delighted to get this new gift from cnet in my school.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI got a virus, when I accessed a website, and something was added to my Roaming folder. I immediately ended the process it started in task manager, and deleted the folder, but afterwards my computer lost its firewall and Microsoft Security Essentials went kablooey. After completely screwing up my computer using all this antivirus and virus deletion software (I scanned multiple times, It found the virus and *said* it deleted it, but another scan again would say otherwise. So after I screwed up my computer to the point that it wouldn't go into the loading screen for Windows, I did a System Restore.
I restored back 4 days before the virus incident had been downloaded, and despite people saying system restore won't fix it, my internet is back online, and I'm having no problems. Firewall and Windows update is back and working, and even Microsoft Security Essentials is back online. I'm scanning for viruses right now, so I want an honest opinion from T.H, and if you guys have a proper virus deletion thing that will actually delete it, not to come back several minutes later. Also, how do I stop websites automatically downloading things to my roaming folder (%appdata%)?
I attempted to start up yesterday and got "Unexpected I/O error has occurred. Status 0xc00000e9" and some message about "Windows has encountered a problem communicating with a device connected to your computer" even though I had no USB devices connected at the time. Startup repair spins indefinitely.
I installed another hard drive in hopes that I could run some diagnostics. I can get to a driver-less version of Windows on the extra hard drive and I can see the data on my inaccessible drive - so I know it's there. I just can't boot it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm currently running Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit on a four year old Compaq Presario C762NR laptop and I'm having some trouble reformatting.
This laptop originally came with Vista, and I updated to Windows 7 about a year ago. It's gotten a bit slower so I decided to reformat it but lost my CD so I decided to borrow my friends. However, once I insert it and restart my computer and have it boot from the disk, it shows an error: "Cannot boot from CD - Code 5"
I tried googling around and apparently this is a problem with older computers. Does anyone know a work around so that I can reformat it? The CD works normally if I open it while on my current OS and shows the option to upgrade/custom install, but since I want to reformat I need to somehow get it to boot via the disk. [URL] However, I don't have my vista disk so I decided to try the vLite solution the author talked about. However, I'm a little confused on how I would make a new iso using the boot.bin instead of extracting it from the cd like how he shows.
I'm sorry if this is a duplicate post, but honestly, I did Search for "Code 5" and found nothing.I have a HD on an eight year old desktop PC that had an early beta version of Win-7 on it.That old version has already expired.I wanted to boot up with my Windows 7 Ultimate DVD and just do an overlay install.Well, every time I tried to boot the PC from the DVD drive, I got the dreded "Cannot Boot From CD, Code 5" error message. Of course I Googled the problem and found only one fix that I was able to execute. The fix involves running the Setup on the Win-7 DVD from within an earlier version of Windows. The suggested version was Viata, but since I already had an early version of Win-7 on there, I tried that. So far so good.
The Setup program informed me that it would put the old OS in a folder called Windows.OLD.I guess that's OK, because I can always delete that later. Eh?This OLD computer may not run Windows 7 Ultimate very well at all, but at least I found a "Work Around" for that nasty Code 5 error message.+ Win-7 did get the sound working and set up my wireless N card with no problem. But it doesn't seem to know exactly what to do with my 8 (or maybe 9) year old video card.I can live with 800x600 resolution, for now. It does have one higher res., but the on-screen text is almost unreadable. But for a testing machine, this one is working pretty well
My Friend just bought his first computer, and he cant install Windows 7. So right now he has no operation system. We have tested installing it with a regular DVD, that worked on my computer, but not on his. It just says: Cannot boot from CD-ROM. And we have also tried to use USB. When we used the USB the computer said something like: please restart and select proper boot device. Even when I'v fixed the boot's. So right now i have no idea what to do. And he has a: MSI P67A-C43 REV B3 as mother-card, Intel Core i5 2500 3,3GHz as processor , Corsair CX 600W V2 80+ as his Power Supply, Optiarc AD-7260S DVDRW Svart SATA, OEM, as the DVD reader. He also has 4 GB in RAM, don't remember which. And 1 TB in hard drive.

I have win 7 Ultimate, and every time I reboot win, lot of devices became unusable with "This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed. (Code 24)". I have to do troubleshoot of my notebook (in "Devices and Printers") and then almost all device with error 24 is uninstalled/installed and after that it is working fine. There are some devices
(e.g. Hamachi Network Interface, VMware Virtual Eth Adapter) which are not healed with notebook troubleshoot. Those devices can't be found in "Network Connections", but they are working fine.
Does anybody have a clue? (this is really irritating to reinstall all devices after every reboot)
I just tried to install the drivers for my Sierra Wireless AirCard 597E. Not only did it not work, no all of my USB drivers are toast.
Looking at Device Manager I've got the following errors:
Intel ICH9 Family USB Universal Host Controller - xxx
(where xxx is 2934 to 2939 and then 293A, 293C)
Looking at the driver details, it's throwing the following error:
Code 39: "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be missing or corrupt (Code 39)".
This leads me to believe that the AirCard installer overwrote my drivers.
Looking at driver details I need to replace the following files:c:windowssystem32driversusbhub.sys c:windowssystem32driversusbport.sys c:windowssystem32driversusbuhci.sys However looking at the physical files these dont appear to have changed from the rest of the install.
help! Anyone have any ideas?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am having some 590 gtx problems and I believe it is just a bad card but I wanted to post it on here and get an opinion from some others. First things first, bought the card brand new about 2 weeks ago. When I got the card I put it in boot up windows and got the newest drivers for the 590 gtx. After the installation was complete I restarted windows, when I booted back up and tried running the nvidia control center it said "You are not currently using a displayed attached to a nvidia GPU." I thought this was weird so went into display manager and looked and saw that the 590 gtx was there but was reading "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)." After this I clean uninstall all the drivers and started installing other drivers. This problem occurred for every driver set except for the drivers that came with the installation disc which I believe are the 267.xx drivers. Thus worked and I was able to run the nvidia control center and utilize the 590, after about 10 mins i got a BSOD with a BCCode 116. After some research I realized that the error I was getting was because of failure to connect with the video card due to hardware or software issues so it timed out, thus causing the BSOD. This continued to happen every 10 to 15mins on these drivers. I have to mention this is over the course of 3 clean re-formats of windows 7. Also I stuck my old video card in which is a Radeon HD 4750 x2 and worked fine and is what I have been using on this system since I built it 3 weeks ago.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an issue with my Windows 7 64bit install (7100). Over the weekend my DVD Drive,1394, Serial/Parallel ports, USB controllers started to give me a Code 19. I've tried everything i can think of to get these to work to no result. However, when I boot into XP PRo SP3 everything works fine. All these devices give a Code 16 (registry Issue) in Device Manager.
Heres what I have:
-Intel P975XBX2 Motherboard
-Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
-Liteon IDE DVD+/-RW DL Drive
-WD 250GB HDD (5400rpm, 2 partitons equal size on the Intel SATA bus)
-512MB XFX nVidia GeForce 8500GT Passive Cooling
-4GB PC6400 RAM
What I've done to correct the Issue:
-Removed devices from Device Manager, rebooted
-used system restore to last good date
-Boot into safe-mode, removed all devices in device manager, rescan, reboot
-Uninstalled Devices, ran Latest Intel Driver Package, rebooted
-Tried to Force Intel Drivers, but Windows forces the MS Drivers.
Exact Error Message:
Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)
I also have Backups set for every night via Control Panel>Backup and Restore. But I cant use it because i never created the Restore Disc and I cant create one now due to the lack of a DVD drive.
This machine is used mostly for 2D CAD, and I'm testing Windows 7 to see if its worth upgrading the Engineering Department to.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have no sound after installing windows 7. 7 realizes that I have a realtek ac'97 but when I look at it on the device manager it says it has some sort of problem. When I inspect the driver through the properties window I see (Code 10) as the problem.
Things that I have tried and have NOT worked:
- Uninstalling/ removing from the device manager and let 7 reinstall it
- download the latest driver from realtek labeled R2.31 (dated 2009-08-24)
- downloaded Realtek driver R2.27 (dated 2009-06-22)
- downloaded additional older drivers
- downloaded the VIA Vinyl AC'97 Drivers
- Checked the HP site for drivers
Obviously none of those things have worked. Running googly searches I have seen that there are others that are experiencing the same problem but no solutions so far (that i can find). I was wondering if someone was familiar with this problem or had found a solution.
Windows 7 will not create a backup and restore point. I have a external HD with 163 GB free and the error code says that I do not have enough space to create a system image. The moderators at Windows Answers have nothing but suggestions, no cures. Obviously MS is aware of this problem yet they have not put out a patch or update to repair this problem, any suggestions for a not-tech?
