View 4 Replies View RelatedHow do I write protect a DVD-R after burning files that I want to permanently back up?
I've burned jpg images to a DVD+R for permanent backup with windows 7 drag & drop. I close the DVD burn session which I have read "finalizes" it but when I load the DVD I can still burn or delete files on it. If the files have the same name they are overwritten. I want to write protect the DVD. When I used Windows XP I used Roxio to drag & drop files to DVD & the disc had to be finalized so it could be read on other computers. This write protected the disc & when it was reload on any computer properties showed there was no room on the disc & it could not be written to & files could not be deleted.
On the right bottom of my screen is the msg: "Internet Protect Mode: Off.I know how to get the screen for this to show, but I'm not sure how I should mark off the settings; i.e. disable, enable, prompt. I'm afraid I'll chose the "wrong button".

View 5 Replies View RelatedIs there a way of password protecting my folders so that i can prevent nosy people from opening them?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI would like to password protect a few folders on Windows 7, how can I do this? Ideally when someone would click on the folder there would be a prompt asking for a password, similar to what happens when you make a .zip and password protect it.
The only software I found till now which comes closest to my needs is Protected Folder, however you have to open the program each time and unlock the folder you want to use, then re lock it when ready, it's not so straightforward as I was imagining. Also I don't know if access will be blocked from other users on the network, once the folder is shared.
Is there a way to password protect a folder i.e. your pictures folder. For windows 7 ofc ^^

Found Here: [URL] I haven't hooked it up yet, as it's a Christmas gift to me from my wife and she don't know it yet...lol...So, I'm not sure if there is any software that comes with it to do such a thing as it's wrapped under the tree...
Basically, I want to hook my 3TB External USB HDD to the Router, so that all our devices can share the media on it, but I want it password protected so if someone else comes in the House, they can't access anything on there and only we are allowed to access it. I'm not sure if the whole drive can be locked or just specific folders on the drive.

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy flat mate set up a security thing called Drive Encryption for HP ProtectTools. What this does is, upon start up, before it lets you load windows, you need to enter a password and pin. Clearly, it is anoying, so he handed it to me to get rid of it. It will not uninstall, as it says it is still active, and must be deactivated. I went into services - found it - disabled it. I went into some .msc thing i saw on the HP forums, disabled it. I went into the BIOS - Disabled it. I have disabled every aspect of it, however, it will still not uninstall, and continues to ask for a password and pin prior to windows starting.

Check your e-mail security settings to determine how attachments are handled" appears in emails with attachments that I send from Win 7. Default email client is Thunderbird, but from what I can gather, the message is Windows-generated.
I found one site that mentioned editing the registry, but when I went to the supposed location in the registry there's nothing there remotely similar to the so called "tip" someone suggested. I've found no other instances of suggestions on how to eliminate that message.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI tried using WinZip, a friend said that it's possible to password protect a ZIP file but I am unable to do so. I don't like WinRar and 7Zip much for daily use, so I would like to have an alternative to password protect my folders/files.
I have heard and read about many 3rd party softwares, but all of them create a separate folder in which I have transfer the files, similar to a real life locker. But the kind of software I need is the one which has the ability to right click a folder/file and set a password, and whenever someone clicks on it, the password is asked.
I DO NOT want the folder/file to be invisible, I want it to be visible but protected by a password. built-in or a 3rd party software to do so? I'm on Windows 7 Home Premium (32 bit).

Windows always Recognises first the WDC HDC as Disc 0
and then the Samsung HDD as Disk 1
and finally the OCZ SSD as Disk 2 (even though it is connected to SATA port 0)
My Secondary WDC HDD was GPT with several partitions.I booted into a Linux Boot Flash Drive that I had slightly tweaked, and Linux aborted on start-up and the system restarted so I allowed a normal Windows 7 start-up.Windows Recognised the WDC HDD as Disk 0 BUT for some reason the GPT style Disc ID was a much shorter MBR style Disc ID.As usual the Samsung HDD was Disc 1, BUT IT WAS OFFLINE due to a Disk Signature Conflict.By Launching Macrium Reflect I saw that the WDC HDD was using the same 8 digit signature as the Samsung HDD.Windows Disk Management shows this WDC HDD as NOW being an MBR DISK with

MiniTool Power Data Recovery v 6.6 is able to perfectly recover 300 GB of files from the 531 GB Unallocated space, but two of the larger 6.5 GB files have the correct names and sizes but fail the MD5 checksum validation,so I know that some sparse damage has been done to a little bit of the information on the sectors.
