View 8 Replies View RelatedA few days ago I did a clean install of Windows 7. Now I have a problem. The computer is a wireless 'client'. It has a Realtek RTL8168D/8111D PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.20).
When I bring up Device Manager and expand 'Network adapters' I see "Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller".
When I expand 'Other devices' I see "! Network Controller" (Note the exclamation point.) Double click on that and I see "The driver for this device is not installed. (Code 28). When I click on Update driver I get a message Can't find a driver. I have tried many times with different source folders and files and nowhere is a driver found.
I have gone to MSIs driver web page and downloaded the Realtek PCI-E Ethernet Driver for Windows 7 32/64 bit "realtek_pcielan_7_nb.zip", extracted the files and still no joy. (M/B is MSI G41M with Intel E7400)
There is a wireless icon in the tray. I click 'Open network and sharing center". No matter what I choose Windows 7 ends up telling me to plug in an Ethernet cable. No, this is a client not the server. I have verified that the NIC can connect to the computer with the Ethernet cable by using the old XP hard disk.
Any suggestions?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a Gateway P-7811fx laptop. I did a fresh install of Windows 7 (64 bit) and now I can't seem to get my SD Card reader to work. I know that the laptop knows there's a SD card in there because when I plug it in, it pops up as "O2Micro SD Disk Device" under Disk Drives in Device Manager. But for some reason, it won't show the SD card in My Computer.
The only problem I can see is that under Storage Controllers in the Device Manager, there's a yellow exclamation point next to "AILXT4UC IDE Controller" that I cannot seem to fix.
All of my drivers seem to be updated and I cannot get any answers from Troubleshooting the problem. Anyone know what I'm experiencing and how to fix it?
I had one of my regular BSOD (I'm quite sure its a RAM issue) and nothing unusual ever really comes from it, however today it screwed up my USB controller driver and now I'm perplexed as to how to get a fix for it.
(Windows 7 64-bit)
Windows recognises all of my 8 Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller devices in Device Manager and upon startup it attempts to install the drivers, but fails on each one of them every time. I've tried to manually update the driver and I get the message:
"Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it.
Intel(R) ICH9 Family USB Universal Host Controller - 2935
The system cannot find the file specified."
The file associated with each of these devices is C:WindowsSystem32driversusbuhci.sys
I've tried countless chkdsk C: /f in CMD to no avail and my Windows 7 disc did nothing to automatically find a cure (wasn't sure how to find the driver manually from disc). I've been told that the drivers for USB controllers are downloaded through Windows Update however I have extremely limited internet bandwidth and simply cannot be downloading 300mb of updates (I searched and couldn't find anything vaguely matching the description of the driver I'm after).
This is driving me a little mad and I really don't want to resort to reinstalling Windows. I've tried Aida32 to try and find out my motherboard type and it shows as unknown.
I've just been downloading various Chipset drivers and browsing through the MANY options that windows provides me with when searching for drivers on my computer, however, whenever I try and automatically OR manually install a driver, even when I'm SELECTING THE FILE for the driver, it STILL comes up with that ridiculous message of "Windows found the driver software ... ... The system cannot find the file specified."

View 9 Replies View RelatedI was recently deploying Windows 7 on an older PC(not too old) and in the upgrade proccess it said setup could not continue and rolled back my upgrade. I suspect that it is because of the raid, because it stopped in the middle of the expanding files stage.
The driver version on there is 1.0.0.62, which I believe is the most recent for vista, so can I rule this out as a reason. Theres 50GB free for upgrade.
Ive just completed a format/reinstall of Win 7. Before the wireless was working absolutely fine, afterwards I cannot even detect an available connection. I can connect to the internet on the computer via an ethernet cable though. If I go to control panel and look at the hardware, there is a 'network controller' with a yellow triangle indicting a problem. Upon searching for drivers on the internet I am informed that a driver is installing but then I get a message saying that the issue was unable to be fixed. The issue is identical to this thread Help: Network controller doesn't have a driver. except that my hardware id is different. On that thread some nice person indicted the correct driver based on the id's he posted, but I have no idea how to do this. In properties, my hardware IDs are:

View 2 Replies View RelatedFirst post here. ~~So I recently dealt with a virus, and I reformatted my PC.Everything is working fine, however I cannot connect to the internet via direct connected through cable to my router.Manufacturer: Cyberpower Inc.Processor: AMD FX(tm)-4100 Quad-Core Processor 3.60 GHzRAM: 8 GBOperating System: Windows 7 service pack1 64-bitI saw another post about the same issue that was fixed by getting a motherboard specified driver. I don't know if I can use those drivers seeing as how I don't have the same motherboard. Atleast I don't imagine. I don't know how I'd go about finding out what motherboard I have. I'm a bit of a noobie here.
