my Toshiba laptop screen stays black, my laptop turns on but the screen stays black, I have tried many steps and none has proved, I wonder if it has to do with a cable or is the screen that needs to be replaced.
Laptop: Toshiba satellite C660 12 I simply used "Windows 7 USB/DVD" to burn ISO Windows 7 (64 bit/ 32 bit - Both versions contained in the same ISO file) to a DVD disc and to a USB Flash. Before installation, I used "MiniTool Partition Wizard" ISO bootable version (I burned it to CD), And format all drives (So, there is no OS installed after formatting).I format all drives to NFTS format, I set one drive as primary and set it active. So there is no problem with formatting. My computer now is clear.I started installing Windows from the USB Flash, It it started normally, and go through the steps up to the window titled "Install Windows" which contains this Text: ..... Installing Windows That's all the information we need right now. Your computer will restart several times during installation
Copying Windows files Expanding Windows files Installing features installing updates Completing installation
This Window completed successfully, and prepared to reboot. After reboot it displays a black screen with scattered alt characters. the characters has no specific order. A blinking cursor after the last line........ Just reference to alt charachters: 1, 2 That black screen (with characters) remain without any change, I wait for 15 minutes but no thing happened, I press many keys but no response even Alt+Ctrl+Delete for reboot. I tried booting and installing it again but from the DVD disc, the same scenario happened.
(Edit) Update:It seems that after the first reboot the screen shown is the same as the screen when choosing HDD/SSD Toshiba MK3265GSXW (instead of booting from USB or DVD)
While playing a video game, my monitor unexpected turned off (HP w1907, connected via DVI). I had to press the power button on the monitor to turn it off, then press it again to turn it back on. Afterwards, it will only stay on for about 5 seconds before it turned back off. This is the very first time I have encountered an issue with this monitor.
My Computer turns of randomly when i play a game called Alliance of Valiant Arms. It will just turn off at a random time. It never use to do this but now it does it alot... My computer has o viruses or spyware or anything. All clean.
When ever I start a game the monitor goes blank, well almost blank (little white blinking cursor in top left) for a couple of seconds and then its fine again.
i just got over my BSOD problem by disabling crossfire on my system. It was working fine for a few days (And it still technically is), but I'm having a strange issue now. The computer turns on and loads windows fine, but the screen is black until Windows actually loads. Basically, I don't see a splash screen for the motherboard and there's no way for me to get into the BIOS.
Lots of issues with WMM on Windows 7. Among them, for no apparent reason random clips turn black and an "!" is shown where the clip was.Any way to install earlier version of WMM on Windows 7?
When I turn my computer on nothing happens. The power light comes on and I hear ONLY the fans turning. Nothing happens on the screen, it just stays black. It does say NO VGA signal.
Just got myself this (old) new computer, that I was going to use for a media center. But it randomly crashes, and i can't seem to figure out why. I formated it yesterday, so I doubt it would be a virus.Sometimes it goes black, and picture returns within a few seconds, but other times it freezes up completely. When I restart it (with the power button) I cant get pasted the BIOS screen, but if I unplug the power supply, and hit the power button a few times and then plug in the power, it starts up like normal. (does that make it a RAM issue?)Freezes have happened doing the following: Using XBMC (both in menus and while watching a video), while Internet Download Manager was running. While file transfer was running, and a few times while i wasnt at the computer.Specs:Windows 7 Ultimate x64ATI Radeon HD 5670Intel Core i3 CPU6GB RAMPhillips TV (Connected with HDMI)
I'm not sure if this is the right section to post this but, ever since I reformatted my laptop, it randomly freezes for about a second and a stuttering noise comes up. Then the screen turns black. It doesn't shut off because I could see the back light, it just turns completely black. What's causing this problem and how do I fix it? I checked the Event Logger and there are tons of errors and some critical kernal-power things.
So I play Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3, the desktop is stock from Dell with ATI Radeon HD 5670 1GB video card. It plays fine for 2 hrs or so then the screen would freeze for about 3 seconds and then the screen goes black for 10 to 15 second. Sometimes the game recovers sometimes the PC would crash.FYI I am a computer newbie. Below are my set up.
I have this problem where my screen will turn black or turn off after a short while of playing games. I installed Windows 7 recently and then installed Borderlands and COD4. Both games run fine at lowest settings but after about 15-20 minutes of playing, my screen would just turn off and I'd have to switch the laptop off using the power button to reboot.
I'm not sure if this is a Windows 7 problem, graphic card issue, or heat related issue since my notebook fan is not working and i'm using a notebook cooler.
ive recently been having this problem for the last few days i thought i fixed it but it started happening again. not sure whats wrongalso this happen after i installed black ops on my computer off of steam.

When I first got it, it arrived without the video card so I used a temp one. The computer started crashing, so I thought it was because the video card was old. I borrowed another one from a friend and uninstalled the old drivers and installed the new ones. The same thing happened with this one. I decided to run some test so I downloaded prime95, memtest86+, and a video benchmark. Everything passed except for prime95. Memtest ran for 11 hours with no errors and prime95 crashes after a couple of minutes. I returned the motherboard because I thought it was faulty, but the same thing happens with replacement. I tried moving the memory sticks to different slots and using one and then the other. I tried installing windows 7 32bit and 64bit. I ran the diagnostic test for the cpu and everything passed. I have installed the latest updated drivers.
So if it's not the motherboard, memory, cpu, nor gpu, what could it be. Can someone please help me identify the problem(s). I don't know where the .dmp went but here is a screen shot [URL] and I will attach the PERFMON HTML file.
my monitor turns to black like its going to sleep and then when i check my computer, its still working but freezes after the blackout. I've tried going to control panel and change the power options but it still crashes. It happens when i am searching the net, playing a game,or starting my computer. Any suggestions?? My system is Windows 7 Home Basic, Processor: Intel (R) Core (TM)2 Quad CPU Q8400 @ 2.66 GHz 2.67 GHz, Installed memory (RAM): 2.00 GB and it is a 32-bit Operating system.
Just today i read a post stating that java has a bad virus. Know that i ran a malwarebites scan and it found 1 harmful item and i deleted the item. After restarting my computer from a prompt, my lenova v570 laptop now turns on with a black screen and a movable cursor right after the windows "welcome screen".
ctrl + alt + delete does not work
I have tried in safe mode and it turns on properly. So, i tried to do what others sujjested on other forums, which was to " roll back my graphics driver" after that, nothing has change.
All of a sudden my screen was black. my background , wallpaper are gone.I can change it to a different but I can't get my old background back. When I try to reset them , it goes black. I didn't do anything to it that I can think of.
i have been playing this game which has black bars on the side for quite a long period of time. So im kind of use to it. But yesterday, i accidentally did something to it. I right click the game.exe and set the compatibiliy mode to xp 3. And this make my game go full screen. So im wondering how can i change it back to the original size which has black bars on it! I have been checking online, but all it tells me is how to get rid of the black bars when i want the black bars back.
Today I installed Risen on my computer. Firstly, when I tried to launch the game, an icon ,,Risen" appeared, than disappeared and nothing happened. When I tried to launch this in compatibility mode the game started but there was only black screen. no menu, intro etc.
I'm using Windows 7 RC 64-bit version, may that be the main problem?
i got this game today and installed it, went fine.so like when i run the game i only get a black screen, but i can hear sounds.i was just wondering why, cause i want to play this game dont want it to go to waste. are there any fix?Machine specsOp: Windows 7 Gamers editionProcessor intel pentium dual cpu E2140 @ 1.60ghz x2ram 4system type 32 bitHDD 320GB
I have a laptop. I got a monitor that I use as secondary display.I use that monitor for tv shows while playing on primary, or that was the plan. When I start gta san andreas, the second screen goes black. But it's only the video. If I take VLC out of full screen, I can see the desktop. So basically, video doesnt work on secondary display while playing game on primary one.
I bought Oblivion through the Gamestop app about a month ago. It's been working fine and I've put about 35 hours into it Then today it started being weird- the screen goes black when I try to load my game. I tried opening it several times and it kept doing the same thing. I really don't want to have to re-install it or reset it in any way since I've put so much time into it and I don't want to have to restart the whole thing
I have recently bought a computer and I have found that when I turn it on it runs normally until after the "Resuming Windows" screen, where everything turns off and the screen goes black. It had been running well for the last few days, so this came out of nowhere.I have searched this problem and I come up with a bunch of different solutions but no one agrees. The most common reason (apparently) is my version of Windows 7 Home Premium (x64) and I need to install something or other. But I can't even get to the desktop, and no one really explains it simply. whilst playing games (mostly RTS) my screen flickers then goes black, sometimes goes to the desktop or the game loading screen then resumes the game?My GPU is an NVidia GTS 250, I have updated the driver to the latest version but the issue still persists, the issue isnt with one particular game, it happens on Dawn of war 2, king arthur fallen champions, war hammer mark of chaos. From the sys reqs my system should be more that capable of running them.
