I have to boot twice for my display adapter to start. Im making a bat file in startup folder who does this operation for me, but i cant get further than starting device manager.
Here is my .bat file so far: set DEVMGR_SHOW_DETAILS=1 start devmgmt.msc
After my PC has been running for a certain amount of time (anywhere from a few hours to a few days) my folders no longer load/display the items inside correctly until I restart. I either get a completely blank folder where I know there are files, or I can see the files but the icons don't display. For instance, I am currently experiencing this, and in my "my documents" folder, some of the folder shortcuts show NO icon at all, just the blank placeholder and the text under it, and some just show a plain folder. When things are working correctly, each folder displays, usually showing media that is inside that folder or some type of specific icon.One thing that is common once this problem begins happening is the green loading bar that runs across the top of the folder window becomes slower the further to the right it goes, and never makes it all the way to the right. It slows and stops at about 95%.
This error is NOT present when I am looking at a folder through a program. For instance, if I go into Adobe Photoshop, then "Open," and then browse to My Documents, All of the foldrs in that "open" windows display correctly. Everything appears as normal in folders in this view, as opposed to nothing appearing if I open it in windows explorer.[URL]Finally here is a view of the FreeCorder folder where there ARE items stored, but nothing appears due to this error.Again, all i have to do is restart and everything will be fine again for a while. Then some magical trigger is executed (I have no idea what that trigger is) and things go funky like this.I DO put my computer on stand-by frequently, but that doesn't seem to be THE trigger, as it has come out of stand-by performing normally.
I know there are several threads but they are with different cards and they didn't solve my issue...
I bought a new MEDION AKOYA P5334E and the system arrived installed normally with Windows 7 home edition.
I've installed on the computer the Windows 7 enterprise edition (x64) and many drivers could not be find. I've installed nost of them, except the display adapter. It's stuck on "standard vga graphic adapter". I have the AMD Radeon HD7570 card but no matter what I try is not working! tried to uninstall the current driver, tried to download the driver from the AMD website (when executing it - it's running but does nothing). when executed the auto detect from AMD website, I got the message "we were unable to find your product or OS"

I just purchased a new alienware desktop. The display does not turn on when the computer restarts. I have to hit the power button to shut down completely to get to the login screen. My power option Display settings are set to :turn off the display: NeverPut the computer to sleep: Neveronly because if the monitor goes to sleep, i cant wake it up unless i reboot.

when I run (from the WAIK command line in admin mode) the first line copype x86 c:winpe is the only line that executes,why the rest of the commands don't run?
Our small office has several laptops, some with Intel chips, some with AMD. I'm trying to find a way to create an image for each laptop type that would include Windows 7 and MS Office.
I've looked around a bit, and I'm finding plenty of info on creating the Windows 7 image, but can't really find anything in layman terms for also including MS Office and any other necessary programs (snagit, Adobe Reader, etc.) to include or how to include, in the image.
Obviously, free (shareware) software is good to do the job in order to keep the cost down. I think I might even have a copy of WinPE I inherited from the person that was there before me, unfortunately, no documentation....Like I said, I've never done this before and I could use a step-by-moron-proof-step process if one actually exists...
I have been experiencing a sporadic problem with video playback for several months now,If I watch enough (locally saved) videos consecutively without restarting my computer, at some seemingly random point, the media player will stop displaying the visual component when I open new ones. Once this happens, the problem will persist until I restart the computer. Each time I try to open a new video file, the player will briefly expand to the proper display size as if the video portion is going to come up as it should, and then the player will just revert to the small size it would as if it were just playing an audio file. And the audio continues to work properly, but I won't be able to get the visual component to work until the computer is restarted. Interestingly, I can continue to watch videos embedded in websites without any problems, just not anything saved to my hard drive(s).
Generally, I use VLC Media Player to play music and watch videos. But once the videos stop displaying properly, I get the same results regardless of which media player I try to open videos with.Other than that, my desktop runs perfectly. I generally have lots of applications opened up simultaneously, so I leave it on pretty much all the time (except when I have to restart it to fix this video problem). Although I haven't noticed any real pattern to when videos files stop opening properly, I would say I can usually open an average of about 20 videos before the problem occurs. It seems like I'm able to extend that number if I pause videos before they finish or if I open new ones while another one is still playing. But if I play audio files or let the videos play out to the end (when the video display minimizes), it seems more likely that the next video I open will cause the problem to reoccur.
i have a video card NVIDIA MX440 with 64 Mb, installed in my mother board, and recently i changed my OS, upgrading it with a windows 7 enterprise version, [formerly i had a xp pro OS] it happens that i cant have the aerials and transparencies, which is an extraordinary new feature of the 7, i'm being told that my problem is too small the board memory of 64 Mb, the video card must support DirectX9.0 or newer, and the driver should be compatible with windows display driver model = WDDM, WDDM 1.0 or higher drive, would it be possible to improve thru updating the driver, downloading from some specific site?

I want to be able to create a copy of the file, with an option when I right click. Instead of choosing Copy at right click, and then again right clicking in Windows Explorer and choosing Paste).
And also my main problem is Windows 7 is creating the pasted file name as "Filename - Copy" in the same folder with the original in it, but I do not want any spaces or even the dash. Can I modify it somehow to create the pasted filenames as 'FilenameCopy' instead of 'Filename - Copy'?
Basically, I've recently made the long-overdue transition from a 5-years old Windows XP machine to a brand-new Windows 7 one, which I've now had for a few days. Only yesterday, what appears to be a small bug reared it's ugly head.
Any file or folder created or moved onto my Desktop is automatically duplicated with another instance of that item. I say an instance because it's not simply a copy of that file, strictly-speaking, because when the duplicate is clicked, it opens the original file. So, I'm left with two instances of the same file on my Desktop. Just to make this clearer, suppose that, as an example, I created/moved a Plain Text file onto my Desktop. A duplicate of that item would then appear. When clicked, this duplicate opens the very same file, meaning therefore, that I have two instances of the same file. In case you were wondering, the duplicate is also not a shortcut to the original file: bringing up its properties, it has the exact same properties as the originally-created one does. I hope everyone's following me so far.
As well as the strange behaviour mentioned above, the bug also affects deleting files or folders in the Desktop. As I've already said, two instances of the file are created when a file is created on the Desktop. In the same way, deleting one instance of the file also deletes the other - but not straight away. It registers as deleted, but the Desktop has to be refreshed for the other instance to disappear.
When I plug in a USB flash drive, it's creating 2 files: file.db and recent.db These database files will open in notepad. File.db seems to be a list of all files on the flash drive and recent.db is a list of recently accessed files on the drive. If I delete them, it just recreates them. I don't see similar files on my C drive.Also, my work computer running Windows 7 Enterprise does not create them when I insert a USB drive.As a matter of privacy, I'd rather not have lists of my files on the drives.

View 15 Replies View RelatedI successfully installed the driver on my old machine for a Radeon 9200 by installing in XP Mode.
However, on my new machine which has a X1900XT, there isn't even a "Display Adapter" listed under device manager. I have tried installing the drivers from ATI's website for Vista and XP under those modes but it doesn't work.
I think I could manually install a driver if it would let me see a "Display Adapter" under device manager. Any idea on why it wouldn't show at least a generic display adapter there?
My motherboard is an Asus A8R32-MVP Deluxe, maybe I need a driver to enable the PCI Express port???
I'm clueless.
I have an Acer Ferrari 3400 laptop. The model only comes with XP but I installed Windows 7 and now when install games the game wont load in fullscreen mode. Ive tried changing resolution, running in XP sp3 mode. nothing works. Is there a display driver i can install that will fix this problem.

I found that out because every time i disconnected it from my laptop a blue screen would pop up and would restart my computer. This happened to me 3 times. A while ago i was playing my games perfectly with my main graphics card the Nvidia GT 555m. I was charging my phone then i disconnected the usb then the blue screen popped again and restarted my laptop. I then tried fixing the driver problem and i did. The only problem was when i tried playing my games it was running slow and i noticed that it was running on the integrated graphics card Intel R graphics HD card. I went to check under display adapters and noticed that the Dedicated graphics card Nvidia Gt 555m was not there anymore.

Two days ago, my brother complained to me about his laptop, Windows seemed to have just froze, with screen tearing and weird lines all over the screen. I told him to restart his laptop. Upon restarting, the entire was black, with the windows logo stretched across the screen, all torn. But I could still hear the Windows noises it makes when it logs in, So this got me thinking, could it be an issue with his Display Driver?
I booted in Safe Mode to see if it would boot up, it works fine. No black screen, no tearing, nothing. Which makes me think that it must be a issue with his Driver. I asked him if he's made any changes recently to his drivers and he said no.
I next went into the Device Manager to find his Display Adapter, and I disabled it. I then restarted his laptop to see if it'll work, and it worked. No problem, no screen tearing, it logged him in fine. I next went about uninstalling and reinstalling his driver.
I rebooted it into Safe Mode and uninstalled his driver from the Device Manager. Then, I went about reinstalling it again, so I went to the ATI website, AMD or something I think it was called, and I had to download the AMD Vistion Engine Control Center. It found drivers for several things, including his Display Graphics. So I downloaded them, installed them. I restarted his laptop, but the same thing happened. Black Screen, screen tearing, Windows Logo stretched and torn.
I accidentally disabled my onboard display adapter and after rebooting, the screen goes black but windows continues to load in the background.Can someone kinldy post a step by step guide for re enabling the adapter for windows 7 ultimate using a Keyboard

I was browsing away and my whole pc froze, with a strange little box around my cursor, although the sound was still working, I force shut down it and restarted and little message popped up saying the display driver has stopped working, I tried multiple things to solve this, to no avail, eventually it kept happening and it got so bad the computer would not start, i tried all of the "F" keys on startup and none worked, eventually i took it to a shop who wiped everything clean and it worked again.
Around 2 months down the line low and behold the same problem happened again, I found a solution and installed a program called driver robot, I used it and installed many outdated drivers, this seemed to fix the problem. For about 6 months, now it has happened again, my computer has now shut down and goes into a constant restart loop, as it is doing this the screens that show up are littered with dots and lines of many colours, I just need workaround on this, preferably without loosing all of my files.
Device Manager is showing the Display Adapter as "VirtualBox Graphics Adapter" I want it to recognise my Sapphire Radeon X1650 Graphics Card so that i can install the appropriate ATI Drivers. How can I do this.
On a similar note my on - board Sound Chip has not been identified properly and again i would like to correct this and install the correct drivers.
For some reason Windows 7 (Home Premium, 64-bit) has recently stopped displaying Unicode characters correctly. I know its a Windows issue, not specific to a certain program, because the problem appears on Asian characters and symbols like the stars in my song ratings across various programs like foobar2000, Mp3Tag, and iTunes. I don't think they work anywhere; I just happen to notice their absences (replaced by ugly square placeholders) in my media-related programs. One interesting thing is that restoring my default font settings via Control Panel appears to fix the problem every other time I restart (ie, I might be able to get Unicode working correctly if I always restore the default font settings before restarting or rebooting my PC - but that is heinously annoying).
The only possible cause I can think of is that I have had some programs to modify the Windows UI such as GDI++ to make the fonts Mac-like (decided ClearType was better rather quickly :P) and pieces of Stardock's suite including programs like WindowsBlinds, IconPackager, etc. I somewhat recently uninstalled all of them, but I didn't notice the problem right away, so I am not sure if they have anything to do with it.
I was wondering why the "ftype" command doesn't display all file types associated with file extensions.For example if I execute "assoc", some of the output is
.txt=txtfile
...
.RDP=RDP.File
When I execute the "ftype" I find an entry for "txtfile" as per below but not for "RDP".file
txtfile=%SystemRoot%system32NOTEPAD.EXE %1
Note: .RDP files are remote desktop files and are opened with %windir%system32mstsc.exe
Under computer I go to my drive of folders. When I click new folder either by right clicking or by hitting new folder the system then creates 2 or 3 new folders at one time. I then have to go back and delete the extra folders. At first I did not mind because it only happened once or twice and now it is every time.
