View 4 Replies View RelatedAlright ladies and gentleman. I've decided to make a tutorial for getting the latest desktop drivers for NVIDIA laptop models to work well
for you. Here's how to proceed. This is for x86. x64 is slightly more difficult due to driver signing enforcement.
You can try to permanently disable this "feature" of Windows 7 x64 by searching Google. Please do not ask me how as I do not use x64 and
don't know. But there is a way. If you can't find it, for x64, you will have to use f8 or similar key to start the machine each time.
1) Download the latest desktop driver for Windows 7 and the card that is closest to yours from NVIDIA's website.
2) Extract the installer to C:NVIDIA - Close installer after extraction. It is not needed now any longer.
3) Find NV_DISP.inf and open it in notepad.
4) Look at the models of cards listed. Choose to edit one that is closest to yours.
5) Open device manager. Right click on standard vga or your video card and choose properties. Details tab. Change drop down to hardware ids. The second line down is of interest here.
6) In the .inf, scroll to the bottom [Strings] section. Again, look for most similar desktop model. Change the beginning part to match what you found in last step 5. For example:
NVIDIA_DEV.0421.01 = "NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT"
and you have 8400M GT, change it to
NVIDIA_DEV.0426.01 = "NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GT"
7) Now look up higher in the .inf and search for the number you edited. In this case, "0421" will lead you to this line:
%NVIDIA_DEV.0421.01% = Section010, PCIVEN_10DE&DEV_0421
8) In this line, edit like this and add your particular string from step 5:
%NVIDIA_DEV.0426.01% = Section010, PCIVEN_10DE&DEV_0426&SUBSYS_9016104D
Note the changes made between step 7 and this in red. Do similar for your particular hardware string.
9) Save the .inf (ctrl+s)
10) Right click on standard vga in device manager. Click update driver software. Browse my computer. Let me pick from a list. Have disk. Browse. Find the .inf you just edited and double click on it. Hit ok so it installs.
11) Reboot and rerun the .exe from step 1 until completion, to install the NVIDIA control panel.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSeveral months ago, I changed the settings on my laptop, a Toshiba Satellite C655-S5132, so that I could play a Japanese PC game on it. I'm now attempting to update my Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family, but when I run the file I downloaded from the Toshiba website, almost every bit of relevant text is in Japanese. In the English I saw, it stated that the computer would reboot automatically upon successful installation, but it has not done so any of the times I've attempted the update.I have a feeling that the text on the last screen is something relevant to this, but am unable to decipher it. I've gone through the normal method of Control Panel > Clock, Language, and Region > Region and Language to set the language back to English, but that hasn't worked. I need to know what further steps I can take to correct the problem. As a side note, I don't have the time/patience to reinstall Windows 7. I'd have to backup all of my files, and later reinstall everything I currently have on my laptop.

My girlfriend has a new-ish laptop that came with Windows 7 Home Premium, and recently it had some issues. The issues have got worse and it turned out to be a stuffed drive, out of warranty, its basically stuffed.I got a new HD and installed it, but when i went digging for the Windows disc that came with it i couldn't find it. Some googling tells me that this laptop does not come with any install discs (seriously, wtf?!) only some manuals and other paper work. There was however a recovery drive which i assume was a partition for re-installing windows and the rest of the included bloat ware. Without a Windows 7 disc we could not install it on the new drive, so i downloaded an ISO on my machine and created a DVD, but the idiot i am, i downloaded it in the wrong language. I didn't notice the NL at the end of the file, which im assuming is Netherlands? Please excuse my language ignorance if im wrong.I know downloading software is wrong, i dont need a lecture. I'm just not going to pay for another copy of Windows 7 because the scumbag laptop manufacturer wont even include a bloody install disc!I have the product key of course, luckily the sticker on the bottom of the laptop was still visible.Sure i could download another ISO, but being bad once is enough for me and our net is pretty slow.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI bought a laptop in Paraguay, with Windows 7 Pro pre-installed. I thought this would be handy and it was cheap as chips so bought it. Little did I know changing the language from Spanish to English would be such a chore. Is there a simple trick I'm missing?
I can get by but it would be so much easier to have it all in English. For instance, I just tried to put my camera's SD card in to the slot and it came up with an error message that I couldn't even read!
I'm a new user of the Windows 7 operating system. So far I'm content with it, it's just that I have one problem unsolved. I've been trying for the past few weeks to remove the English US keyboard without any success. I have no problem adding any new keyboards/languages, but that specific keyboard just won't go away, and it's causing me trouble.
I've Googled it and found no answer. Is there any way I could do something about it? Anyone has any idea? Anything would be useful.
I live in Japan and I'm from America. I have set my PC to view everything in English.
But, some programs that I have loaded will only display in Japanese. Mostly this are the programs from Asus.
I have sent several mails about this and have heard nothing from them. So I was wondering if anyone has had this problem and knows how to fix it?
So my friend bought this Compaq Mini CQ10 laptop/netbook over in spain, and bought it over to the UK.When he got it home and first time booted he noticed it was in Spanish, with Spanish keyboard.So my question is, can i change it from Spanish to English? its running Windows 7 Starter.
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy problem is, that after being on my computer for awhile, the English layout will appear out of nowhere in the language bar, even though I do not have it activated, so there is no way I can get rid of it, except for restarting my computer. Does anyone know how I could get it to stop doing this? To most people it probably wouldn't be a problem, but it bothers me to have it there when I won't use it, and I always make extensive use of keyboard shortcuts, and skipping from one layout to another a lot, so it makes it harder and longer to switch between them. I have included a picture to illustrate this.
Also, to avoid making two threads (unless I should), does anyone know how to edit the layouts of the Korean IME's layout, so I can have the Korean characters in a custom layout, instead of the prescribed way?
My netbook was shipped with a Russian (or Ukrainian) interface language in Windows 7. I would much like to switch it to English. I was looking for MUI files (I think), but could find for just about any language but English. On a forum I found a link to this tool [1] which was supposed to achieve just this, but failed.
Where should I look for language files that would allow me to have the Win 7 interface in English?

Lenovo had a glitch in their system while I've ordered my laptop and it looks like Spanish Windows 7 will be installed from the factory.
Assuming that all of its English features in Windows 7 will be converted to Spanish, is there a way to make it so there is no slight hint of Spanish in my system? It would be kind of silly to learn Spanish just because Lenovo made a bug in their system.. sigh.
Also, does anyone know if the Windows 7 COA sticker will say "Spanish" on it? I'm just curious about this one.
