If I use live mail can I keep my present address??? I noticed that hot mail is the parent to live mail...is there any way I can keep my present address??
Right now my provider is road runner...I can operate my present email from them using my present email address, because that is where my pop/smtp servers are!
I am not that savvy when it comes to internet techniques involving mail..I am just doing what I know..
My internet connection shows 'no internet access' even though my ISP shows the connection is coming into the house just fine. I usually use a router (NetGear-WNR3500U) but I right now I have the Ethernet connection plugged directly into my PC. I tried directly plugging into my laptop and the internet works just fine. So I know the problem resides in the PC.
Some troubleshooting things I have tried.
-Power cycled my modem, router and PC.
-Repinged my connection from my ISP(Comcast Xfinity)
-Used the reset option on the router and the modem
-I was walked through the internet options needed with the tech support from my ISP to make sure DHCP was enabled and every other setting was correct, and he cleared me that all settings were correct.
-Tried ipconfig commands to /renew and /release my IP When I tried ipconfig /renew I get the error 'An error occurred while renewing interface Local Area Connection : unable to contact your DHCP server'
-Restored my PC to a restore point where the Internet was working
All of these options did not work.
What I think the problem is and I am not sure how to fix it, when I run the ipconfig /all command my Auto configuration IPv4 Address shows 169.254.112.76 which I was told is a router IP address even though I am plugged directly from the modem to my PC with an Ethernet cord. So I think that's my problem? But I am not sure.
Dell Inspiron 1545 Windows 7 I'm looking to upgrade the RAM from the present 2GB.There are two chips in the unit, I take it they are 1GB each. The only noticeable difference between the chips is the last serial number digit (one has a V, the other a W) and one has DIMM1 and the other DIMM2 on it.The system spec states a 64 bit op system. A chap on Dell community says it will have the capacity for 64 bits but would have come with a 32 bit set up. That I find strange. Two scans indicate that it can take up to 8GB RAM, so therefore it's a 64 bit system.
I previously had XP Pro 32-bit on a 320GB drive, and a 500GB drive set up with an Acronis True Image Home secure zone for backups. A couple of weeks ago I bought a 1TB drive and Windows 7 Pro 64-bit OEM. I added the new drive to my PC, formatted it, and did a clean (custom) install of Windows 7. Everything went well, I could dual boot to XP or Windows 7, and I love Windows 7.
Saturday I decided I didn't need XP any more. I did a final backup, removed XP from the bootup menu, and removed the XP drive. I can't boot. My BIOS says it can't find a bootable drive. If I put the XP drive back in I can boot just fine into Windows 7. I've tried the repair tool on the Windows 7 CD. I tried an update install over my current installation.
My long term goal was to move my Windows 7 installation to the 500GB drive and use the 1TB drive for backups. I did a clean install to the 500GB drive without XP present, but Acronis won't let me restore my Windows 7 backup (other than just files) to any other drive. I have two drives available, but Windows 7 backup only presents the CD/DVD drive as a destination.
I've just about resigned myself to starting over with the clean install I have now on the 500GB drive, but it's a lot of work to get everything installed and configured again. Does anyone have any ideas?
It fits the socket but does it have to support the CPU as well? I want to buy a cooler and i see in the description that other than the socket they also list what CPUs are supported, but some just say the socket, i'm confused.
I want install drivers in my laptop sony vio mininotebook. The model number is not present when i seach in system information the model says to be filled be O.E.M. how i can locate the model number there is not even a sticker on the back of the laptop.
Having problems exporting my comcast address book to windows live mail address book,Also tyied exporting address book from plaxo without success, please help!
I have a system running Windows 7 Pro 32-bit which does not show any icons whatsoever when right-clicking on the speaker in the system tray and then clicking on the RECORDING DEVICES option. There doesn't appear to be any devices disconnected and none that are disabled. There simply isn't any type of device listed at all.
This particular user is about to buy and connect a USB microphone to this system. Will he run into problems with no devices listed in this area? Is there something no correctly configured in the BIOS? He is using an ASUS MB, but I do not have the model number in front of me at the moment. The sound, however, is onboard (no separate sound card installed).
I should also note to you that he has full sound capability, full CD/DVD playback sound, full Windows theme sounds, etc.
I found several instances of csrss.exe running. Looked up this file, and find it to be a legit file name for a necessary service. All fine so far.So I decide to search my C: drive for this file, just to see if I have multiple copies, and possibly one might be bogus. I pull up an explorer window, type csrss into the search box, and it finds NOTHING...Now, I can go find one instance of csrss.exe: it's in the windows/system32 folder... and when I search ONLY this folder, it shows up in the search. But when I try to search the whole C: drive, it can't find it, anywhere.
how to remove XP professional from boot? Its a single hard drive, I had a dual boot system b4, with xp home and xp pro. Now, i have installed win 7 on my pc, and i would like to remove xp pro (and programs installed on that partition), since i have sum important programs on home. There is a catch - some files that are attached to this important programs on home are installed on partition that xp pro is installed at, and i cant afford to loose them.
My friend's notebook with Vista OP shows "no audio output device is installed".i went to HP site and d/loaded and installed the audio driver but no change ... also basic steps like restore didn't work.it is a fairly old computer (7 years) but I would like to get sound back as my friend is in recovery and the computer is a great companion/entertainment for the long hours of bedrest
I have Windows 7 Ultimate x64.When I plug ANY Xbox 360 controller into my computer, it says "Unknown Device.I went to the Microsoft website to directly download the Xinput drivers, and when I went to download the, Windows Genuine tool, it 404'd on me, as the download page was gone, and it's still like that for me. I then found a direct download from Microsoft for the Xinput driver and it says "Not enough storage is available to process this command." Just to let you know my temp folder is clear, I have 16gigs of ram, and 573 GB free on my HDD, so it's a program error. I look far and wide on the internet for drivers, and I even download a Xbox 360 controller emulator (which is actually cool, it allows you to inject xinput drivers into any game) but it still didn't provide the base drivers I need I'm probably going to reformat again because it sadly seems like it's the only fix,
My Dad has a vintage Dell Optiplex, just reinstalled Win XP and now the *^%^$ NIC cannot see the webI rechecked and verified that the connecting cable is OKI tried downloading a NIC driver from MS, but the installer cannot see it. The hardware manager (control panel) does not show NIC mfg. details so I have to guess. The NIC is built into the board so I can't disconnect it.
I am in the process of upgrading my mb and cpu,I have 7 home premium uprade 64 bit installed. Will I be able to install without Windows xp present on my computer?
I recently upgraded to the MS 2007 Enterprise suite on our media computer, and having trouble playing video in PowerPoint. I insert my movie via Insert > Movie > Movie From File. I found out that if I right-click and Preview the movie, it will play fine in my slide, however when running the slide show it will play only audio.Notes: It will play audio only either when asking it to start automatically or on click. It is listed as MS Compatible files (WMV). The movie is located on the PC locally in the same folder as the PPT. The movie plays fine in Windows Media Player. I've read through "Compatible multimedia file formats" and "My movie doesn't play" articles on MS website regarding version 2007.
"Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)" Drives (2) are present but do not show in my Tree and are not usable in this state. I cannot get them to work and can therefore not update with the discs.
My wife's laptop broke down a few months ago, and we wanted to get some files off of the hard drive. I grabbed an extra eSATA cable and connected it to an extra port on my desktop motherboard... without remembering to connect it to the power supply. Anyway, when I booted up the machine, I was unable to get past the BIOS, getting an error message "Keyboard Error or No Keyboard Present". Even after shutting down and removing the hard drive, I'm still getting this error message. We've tried a number of different keyboards and it's coming up the same every time.
Thought about time I asked the experts on this problem I've had for some time.I can be quite happily surfing the net and then if I try to go to a different site I get the message"Looking up www.xyz" where XYZ is the site I want to go to.I have had this problem for months well longer really. The problem is solved with a reset of the router, Now it happens across different routers so I discounted them.I though then it was my internet connection so carried on with a reset of the router.I have recently purchased an internet radio and the odd thing is it carrys on playing music proving my broadband connection is still there. The same happens with IE or Firefox.I am at a loss where to point the finger of blame.
PC was running fine, and i was playing skyrim (who isn't?), then suddenly everything froze and i had to hard reset. Only windows froze after i put in my log in password. (After the black screen with starting windows). Tried a few things in vain, got desperate, and did a clean install. once i install latest Nvidia rivers, it'll freeze at log in again. It's driving me nuts! I can only log on if in safe mode or the nvidia drivers arent there. As soon as they're installed, freeze and crash. So here's what i tried so far:
1. Tested card on a friend's pc, it works fine.
2. Tried different drivers, uninstalling old ones with driver sweeper, still doesn't work.
3. Tried a GTX 260 on my mobo same pci slot, works fine with nvidia drivers.
4. It's not heat related (i think) as my case is well cooled and temps have always been low.
I just don't get it, card is not broken, clean windows install, and crash as soon as there are nvidia drivers?
Here are the specs:
Asus P7P55D mobo i5 750 OC'ed to 3.6 (cooled by Silver Arrow) Palit GTX 570 (factory overclocked) D-link network card Windows 64 bit home premium disc.
I have only one problem with my laptop and that is at the start-up. I open up my laptop, and what I see is that there are several drivers that Windows is searching for, but cannot find.
So, as a pretty advanced user, I simply downloaded the required drivers and installed them. But when I re-started my computer, the "Searching for Drivers" pop up came up again.
So, I took the software approach. I downloaded Driver Genius, and then Driver Robot to install drivers that are supposedly missing. They installed the drivers, but when I re-started the computer, the deplorable screen cam up again.
I realised then, that the drivers are actually installed, but Windows cannot seem to be able to find them at all....
UPDATE:
The Driver that the System cannot find is Intel 5 Series Chipset 3400 - SMBus SB30. I hate tried re-installing the Chipset, but it does not install for some reason.
I logged on this morning. Go to start Google Chrome up, I get 'The SubSytem needed to support the image type is not present.' I then reboot, Same thing, I've tried using Chkdsk, Nothing there, I've also tryed using SFC /SCANNOW which found errors but couldn't fix them...
The Windows Live Mail icon not present on the Start menu. I have a new Win 7 laptop, installed Windows Live Essentials and can see all the other programs, like Windows Live Movie Maker, but not the Windows Live Mail. I removed, reinstalled and repaired already.
This software works fine with my webcam until I hit the Record button then I get this error message - no device of this type is present. I searched everywhere for this message and no hits, not even on the NCH website, thing is that this message does come up if it can't find your webcam but it does find and display my camera. Only when I try to record do I get this msg. Works fine with XP I am running Win 7 ultimate. NCH website says its compatible with Win 7. No device driver problems .....

I just did a clean install upgrade of Win 7 (Home Premium) from Win XP.Win 7 installed OK right after Win XP, but when I boot up, I get a message: Earlier version of Windows/Windows 7.I have a 1 TB WD hard drive I installed both Win versions to (created some partitions after formatting)...could I have installed Win 7 in the wrong place? Do I need any necessary repartitioning here, and can I unload Win XP without having to re-install Win 7?
