Xerox Phaser 3117 Driver Error - Windows Policy Is Blocking NT 4.0 Drivers
I am having trouble in installing the printer (Xerox Phaser 3117) driver on my Windows 7 x64 version. It is giving an error "Windows policy is blocking NT 4.0 drivers".
I have never used Windows NT before.
I have tried changing the disallow kernel mode drivers to install to disable but still has not worked for me. I badly need to run my printer.

Xerox Driver Phaser 8400 (x32 - X64) Issue
I have 2 new computers using Windows 7 (laptop x32 and Quadcore x64). Installing web-based drivers for my 2 Xerox Phaser 8400 DP network printers is ok, but prints are not. First after installation it only prints in basic b/w mode and not 100% the size (about 70%) of the original. It is like the printer uses A5 size standard and resizes everything accordingly. No paper size selection and/or print quality selection is possible. Now it seems I have to manualy set the configuration in the Xerox driver screen to Phaser 8400, and that solves the problem with print quality. I can now print in color also. But not in the right size or other paper types. Xerox says only to help (level 2) if I have a service contract. I do not need this contract (no issues ever with the printer ever I could not resolve myself)) and do not want to pay for issues Xerox should resolve anyway...

I have a printer XErox Work center 428 and need driver for windows7 64bits. Answer:- Xerox does not support Vista, give up on Win7. Have you considered running a virtual machine of XP on your Win7 box? Xerox don't have any Vista or W7 drivers, but this site do have Vista x64 drivers that should work under W7. http://www.nodevice.com/driver/WorkCentre_Pro_428/get63312.html

Xerox Printer Driver Install Issue
I have attempted to install my 8560 printer on my laptop I am having issues. I went to Xerox and downloaded and attempted to install the printer and received the same issue. It wants to install as a network printer and is requesting me to connect to a network. I do not have a network. When I go to view my devices and printers I see my Xerox printer there which seems strange. I tried to print something from word and it only printed in black and with from the bypass tray. I then went to check my printer preferences and found i had only the very basics options which all seemed to be fine except for the color and tray selection. Its weird because on my XP and Vista computers, I do note have this issue and they are also laptops. I checked my security and I have rights to everything. I simply want to install the printer and us it with a USB connection. I am also having an issue with two other devises using the USB port connection.

Fuji Xerox DocuPrint C525A Printer Driver Windows 7 Not Available
i have a DocuPrint C525A printer which has been working fine on my dell laptop OS Windows 7 x64bit Home Edition. I have recently bought a Samsung laptop also with Windows 7 x64 Home Edition. i am unable to load drivers for the new computer. Fuji Xerox can't help. The drivers listed in device manager for the printer on the Dell computer is located C:Windowssystem32DRIVERSusbprint.sys There is an identicle driver on the Samsung computer. I have tried copying the driver from the dell to the Samsung but all i get is "windows could not find driver software for your device"

Group Policy Applies Policy EXCEPT For 1 Setting?
Windows 7 Pro 32 bit on a domain?I have a group policy set on an OU named LAPTOPS. The policy gets applied, however the User ConfigWindows SettingScriptsLogon DOES NOT. When you run the GPRESULTS on the laptop, I see the policy settings being applied EXCEPT for the LOGON script. Its not there. I dont see any errors and cant figure out why Windows would ignore this one setting in the policy but apply the rest. I've tried deleting and recreating the policy but that does not work.

Windows 7 Pro X64 Group Policy Error - Mapped Drives Not Connectable After A While
Our domain controller is a Win Server 2003 R3, and we recently replaced several workstations with newer hardware running Win 7 Pro x64. For the most part, every thing runs smoothly. We have a shared folder on the 2003 machine that everyone uses to store their data. Everyone logs on to the domain, not the local machine. The problem happens when a machine is left on for more than one day. I don't know if it is on a regular interval, but I haven't noticed it as such. Eventually there is an error when trying to connect to the mapped drive: "U:\ is not accessible. An unexpected network error occurred." When trying to browse the server from the Network in the Start Menu I get this: "Windows cannot access \\servername Check the spelling of the name... Error code 0x80070035 the network path was not found." I get a positive response when I ping the server's name and IP address from the client computer, and vice versa. I checked that the following services were running on both machines: workstation, server, tcp/ip netbios helper, DHCP client, DNS Client. The client computer's Ethernet adapter settings uses the server as the Preferred DNS Server in the IPv4 properties [it is set manually]. I tried ipconfig /flushdns on the client, then ran gpupdate in an administrator cmd window, still got an error. I ran gpresult /h gpreport.html and will attach that file for inspection. There are some errors in the system event log with GroupPolicy as the source and 1030 as the Event ID. Sometimes there is an error in the log with NETLOGON as the source and 5719 as the Event ID. What really makes it aggravating is that it only happens when the client computers are left on for more than a work day. If they are rebooted, it works fine.

When I try to set a password for new account, I always get "password does not meet the password policy requirements" error. Password Policy is disabled, of course.Prime suspect is HP ProtectTools Security Manager but I cannot remove it because uninstall throws Error 1001.My colleague has identical system (hardware + software) with the exception of not using HP ProtectTools (he probably removed it immediatelly after starting up his new system several m of this kind.

Blocking Some Ports
Im using windows 7 RTM x86 I want to close some opened ports.These ports are 135 and 445. So, I try to close/block these ports using Windows Firewall. ( with advanced settings ) I created inbound rule for closing port 135(TCP) (as you can see attached screenshot ) Also I applied same step for UDP. but, when I scan my pc's opened ports using Net Tools 5 program ( open port scanner tool ) , it found port 135 as open. I created rule and blocked/closed port 135 but Net Tools says : Port 135 still open. This is risky for me. How can I close this port correctly ? Note : Im using MSE for Antivirus security.

Windows 7 Blocking Internet
I am running Windows 7 and am using Verizon DSL to connect to the Internet using an Ethernet cable. I am having an issue with loading content from the Internet. Some sites, such as Google, load but then if navigate from them, nothing happens. Other sites, such as CNN never load and timeout after a couple minutes. I think the problem is with the computer and Windows 7 because if I go wireless using the same router with my iPhone, I have no problem loading these same sites. Everything worked fine a few weeks ago so something changed but I have no idea what. I did have McAfee antivirus on the computer but uninstalled it hoping that might solve the problem - it didn't. Is there some setting in Windows 7 that is blocking these sites from loading.

Windows 7 Blocking Downloads?
I have windows-7 and I went on the "JPL small body data base" site and to use one of the features I would have to download some active-x software. When I ok this to download I get a message that says that windows has blocked it because they don't know them. Is there any way to let me make the decisions instead of windows?
