I've been using a Macbook Pro 15" for years, with Windows 7 Ultimate installed. Naturally I have everything just so.. It died a few days ago. I figured it was the SSD, but it was the mainboard or something. I now have a new Lenovo X1 Carbon, and the SSD from the MacBook Pro is in an ext. USB enclosure. How would the experts recommend that I image the old installation onto the new laptop?I found this article (Restore Windows 7 to different computer ) but it requires the old computer to be working. (keep in mind the X1 doesn't have an optical drive -- I will have to create a bootable USB key for this process.. Or perhaps it's possible to boot off of the external HD -- I'll check the BIOS)
Not sure if I've got the right forum so sorry if I've put it in the wrong place, but here goes,I'm running a brand new Lenovo B570 with Windows 7 Home Premium x64 and a Broadcom 802.11n wireless network adaptor.Earlier today I was managing to connect to the internet wirelessly, though the connection kept dropping out. Then I could connect to the wireless router, but not through the internet, and now I can't connect wirelessly at all. With an ethernet cable internet access is fine, and another computer in the house connects fine to the wireless too, so it follows that the problem's with this machine. The computer recognises that the networks are there, but it can't connect.
I recently got a Lenovo V570 laptop. I was going to do a Clean Install of Win 7 to get the crapware off of the C: drive. I have ran across many threads about when doing a clean install the wifi doesn't work. I have searched for a lot of hours to find the solution and finally have found it but do not quite understand it. V570 - Win 7 Pro (non OEM) - Wireless not working - Lenovo Community Is the OP saying that he put his SSD with the Clean Install under the HDD in the boot order?
A couple weeks ago, my computer (Lenovo T500) stopped recognizing wireless networks. I went to update the wireless adapter driver, and saw that there was no wireless adapter shown in the device manager. I downloaded the driver straight from Lenovo, but there's still no adapter showing up.
oh my, you guys aren't going to believe this. I burned 7048 to a dvd disk, went out and bought an external CD drive, did a clean install of 7048 on my laptop, and NOTHING. Still doesn't detect the wireless, This is awful.
are there wireless driver packs I could download or anything and transfer them over to my lenovo?
Update
okay, i did the troubleshooting, and it says
"PCI serial port is not installed. install the latest driver for this device."
I'm experiencing an issue with build 7000 and the wireless card. It won't connect to different wireless networks automatically after putting the machine into standby. example, use the corporate network at the office, close the lid, bring the laptop home open the lid (resume from standby) it attempts to reconnect to the corporate wireless and never recovers. i get the same experience when going into standby at the office and returning to the office.
Oh, driver is from Microsoft version 1.0.0.7 date: 11/7/08, manufacture of card indicates: Atheros Communications Inc.
When trying to install W7 in 64-bit form I get the error message "The selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI systems, Windows can only be installed to GPT disks."
this is new purchased notebook and i can't install the windows 7 anywehere in the driver
As stated in the object everytime Windows gets loaded it always forgets somethings in my wireless LAN connection settings.Either everything is set with automatic IP address (and I actually use TCP/IPv4 manual IP address + DHCP disabled in the DSL router) and automatic DNS addresses, or (if set on manual as it should be) something is randomly missing (i.e. the Gateway, the DNS address, etc., etc.).When rebooting I don't have the feeling that a task is force-closed or that something crashed so there should be no accidental loss of data (?).I use Kaspersky Pure v2.x + Webroot Spy Sweeper (this one with LAN control disabled).
I have a new laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. I installed Ultimate and now there is no way to make an Internet connection. The button that had the symbol where you click and connect to a network with Wi-Fi has disappeared. I tried turning the router on and off as well as plugging the laptop into the router with a cable but neither have worked.
So I decide I should either reinstall Home Premium. I put in the CDs that had the drivers, but when I tried to reinstall I got the message "Fail to format disk 0 partition 3" .
Also I was wondering if I should try to install Windows 7 Ultimate again. My main purpose was to run Virtual PC for Windows XP so I could run 16-bit programs, but I would also like to know if I can simply install XP on a computer running Window 7.
I reinstalled Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and was wondering where I could get the fingerprint reader, bluetooth and thinkvantage drivers for my Thinkpad. I'm not really sure which drivers to get online.
i am trying to troubleshoot problems with transparency and other aero effects and results says the current video card may support aero with a driver that is compliant with the WDDM, then I must seek for a compatable driver

I installed Window 7 on my laptop. Everything ran pretty well, so I decided to give it a try on my desktop.
I had a little hard time installing Belkin USB driver, but it wasn't anything complicated. Then I installed Steam. The nightmare happened.... The wireless would work for about 5 minutes. Then it just die. I did everything I could imagine, but nothing helped unless I restarted the computer. Then again.... 5 minutes,,, it's dead.
I reinstalled Window 7 again just for the heck of it with USB + Steam. AND THE SAME THING HAPPEN AGAIN! The third time I decided to go easy on my Window 7. I installed everything but Steam, and the wireless works just fine for 5 weeks! Does anyone have the same problem? & is there any solution out there?
