I would like to hit the "To:" button and select a folder and pick and choose recipients and then tap another folder and select from it. Can't Open A Shared File On A Windows 7 Machine If It Is Already Open On An XP Machine In Same Network
Jan 23, 2012I have a small network of six computers. Five of them run XP and I just added a Windows 7 machine. I've got a Microsoft Access 2003 database that all of the computers share that is hosted on one of the XP machines. The Windows 7 machine can access the Access database through the network just fine, as long as no one else is accessing it. However, if someone else on an XP machine on the network is using the file, it won't open on the Windows 7 machine. Doubling clicking the file on Windows 7 gives me the circling blue icon for a second or two, then nothing happens. If the XP user exits the database, then I can open it fine. Permissions on the XP that is hosting the database is set to allow everyone. And all the XP machines can access it at the same time.

Jun 29, 2012One day, for no apparent reason, my Windows Live Mail decided it wouldn't start no matter what I did. After searching this and other resources, and trying the suggested solutions, I finally came up with my own. This is what worked for me, hope it helps someone else:
1. I had a look at the log files, located here: C:Users(MY-USERNAME)AppDataLocalMicrosoftWLSetupLogs They all seemed to start OK but then hang at the same place. The last line in the log file said "Cert :00000900 (06/29/2012 20:12:10.094) Verifying signature of file=[C:Users\__USERNAME__AppDataLocalWindows Live.cacheLOO5rDp5hbmHg5sboPPgQ2mUlhc=]..."
2. So I deleted the whole C:Users(MY-USERNAME)AppDataLocalWindows Live.cache folder. Restarted my PC and tried once more. Live Mail was "Live" again!
In Windows 7 Can't Open Files Across Network
Jan 14, 2013I have 3 machines all running Windows 7. Machine C & D are running Windows 7 Home Premium 32 and Machine A is running Win 7 Business Premium 64. To start I setup a Homegroup and joined everyone to it. I can open files on B & C via Machine A and I can open files on B via C and C via B, but when I try to open files on A via B or C, I can see the file, but when I try to access it the system freezes and does not open it.
Machine B is an older install of Windows 7. Machine B is a fairly new install. Both have very little "extra" programs on them except for anti-virus. Machine A has a new install replacing the the old install from the ground up as of yesterday of Win 7, has anti-virus that is the same variety as the others.
I have tried disabling the firewall on Machine A, did not work. I have tired disabling the anti-virus, did not work. I have even tried sharing a new folder outside the Homegroup and once again the other computer can see everything in it, they just freeze when I try to open anything. All the computers are on the same Workgroup. Machine A is running a gigabit adapter and the others are sitting at only 100/10 and are hardwired to the system.

In my bedroom I have another TV hooked up to another PC (currently running Vista Business but that's probably about to change...). What would be the best way to get the bedroom setup to behave as close as possible to a normal TV with a cable box by controlling and streaming video from the tuner card in the "main" media pc in the living room? Does media center have anything like this natively? I'm open to solutions that skip the second PC too if there's some magical ethernet based KVM switch that can just pipe everything up to the bedroom...I've been eyeing Orb for a little bit but it looks clunky to use, admittedly I haven't tried it yet though. Also preferably I would like to be able to use both at the same time, with the bedroom PC just hijacking one of the four tuners on the infinitv 4 card.

I have just purchased a new PC running Windows 7 and wanted to inport my backed up emails from Outlook Express which are on a hard drive in .dbx files.When I go to the drop down list in Windows Live Mail and click Import Messages a box appears and says select the format you want to import emails from and it lists Microsoft OE 6, Windows Live Mail and Windows Mail. I click the OE option and then next then a box about the location of messages appears. I click browse, find where the messages are and click next.A window opens and asks me to select folders and I select All folders (although I have tried a single folder without success) and then click nextA small box opens and I can see the folders being imported. When finished a window opens and says import complete and the messages are in Microsoft OE formatWhen I go back into Windows Live Mail in the Storage folders there appears a file called Imported Folder but when I open it there is nothing in there.
Mhy question is am I looking in the right place for the imported emails or have I missed something.I know the emails are on the hard drive and it says it is importing them but I don't know where.........I have looked on the desktop and in a couple of other locations but no joy.Apparently you can but a prog that opens .dbx files and displays them in an OE style. It is FreeFile Viewer but free it isn't.

Dec 25, 2012My Windows 7 Dell Studio 1550 laptop computers disc drive has been acting up for a little while now, like having to insert a DVD twice before it starts to autoplay with Windows Media Player (WMP). Just little things like that. Now when I try to play my audiobook I got today and it isn't recognized by WMP. When the look in Windows Explorer the files it contains are garbage- default style files of size 1kb with default track names like: Track01, Track02....Thinking that it could be that the CD might be readable on normal car CD players and similar, I double check with an old CD that I burnt myself a couple weeks ago. It doesn't recognize that either and it Win Explorer displays the same garbage.WM Player does literally nothing when it is told to play to it, and VLC tells me that:"Your input can't be opened: In desperation I try the original CD in my gaming tower.
