i have a dell inspiron 1535 with windows 7 home premium 64 bit. the problem i am currently having is that when listening to music (mp3s, Internet, itunes, wmp, anything) there's a hesitation and a lag in the computer (much like someone skipping a record). i have done a bit of research on my own and tried many of the proposed solutions such as: disabling enhancements, virus scans, malware scans and so forth.
View 14 RepliesI'm having some performance decrease on my new Build. I bought a new motherboard, Hard Drive and CPU Cooler and had to re-install windows to get my new board to work properly. I've noticed that now in League of Legends my frame rate is around 40-70 when I used to have a constant 150+ even in hectic situations where lots of things were going on at one time. I have the latest AMD Drivers, 13.1. I have tried reverting back to 12.10 to see if its the new version that's causing the problem, but its the same. [code]
View 2 Replies View RelatedI currently use drivers from 2008:Driver Version 4.176.75.21 - 10/1/2008 for my Dell Wireless 1505 Draft 802.11n WLAN Mini-Card.Whenever I run Microsoft Update it tells me to upgrade to the latest drivers, however, with the newest drivers I experience a SIGNIFICANT drop in throughput- something like from 108 mbps with my current setup to 1-15 mbps with the "updated" drivers.I'd like to have the most up to date driver, but do not want to limit my Wifi bandwidth either.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have tried to make this computer work for two weeks now and it's inventing new ways every day to make life hard for me. I want to associate a program with a file type, easy in XP but takes me a hour with Windows 7.
I just renamed a small bunch of files, THE FILES DISAPPEAR !!! No not really disappear, the files are still in the folder but these are invisible in Explorer. Do a search for them and they are there, move them into another folder and they appear in the other folder, move them back to the original folder and the files become invisible again.
I'm getting a consistant BSOD. At first I thought there might be a problem with the case/jumpers so I unplugged all but the main power, but still got BSOD. Then I thought it might somehow be related to SP1, so I uninstalled it, but still got BSOD. Perhaps there is a physical problem with the power supply or MOBO?

I have started recieving BSOD recently and would love some help. The crashes started after I had spent a while trying to reconnect to my home wireless (I have an often faulty wireless adapter.) At points I had unplugges the adapter and plugged it back in causing it to install drivers again. Once I got reconnected I had my first BSOD while on facebook. I tried going back on but it just kept crashing after a 5 - 10 minutes.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just built this computer around the 1st of August this year. It's my second self-built PC and came together without issue. However, I started having blue screens about once a week since maybe the 2nd day after I first ran it. Every single blue screen seems to be linked to the video card drivers crashing. Usually the drivers will crash and successfully recover as stated by the helpful little message at the bottom right.When the display drivers crash, I'm usually in a game of TF2, League of Legends, or even in Mozilla Firefox. The screen will freeze, sound will continue, and after 15 seconds or so go black for 2-3 seconds then go back to normal. The display driver crashing has happened TOO MANY TIMES TO COUNT and seems almost entirely random. Sometimes it will crash 3-4 times in the span of a half hour in League of Legends and sometimes it can go several days with no crash and the same amount of activity on the computer.
I've tried everything I could possibly find on the internet and from friends in terms of troubleshooting the display drivers crashing. I've diagnosed my memory, updated drivers, tried older driver versions, updated everything Windows has recommended, checked temperatures constantly... I'm starting to wonder if all of these issues could possibly be linked to insufficient dedicated memory on the video card? It says 1 GB on the box but when I check in system information it says around 750 MB... which sounds dangerously low to me.One more thing... the blue screens have happened 4 times so far, the last happened about an hour ago and the computer has been sluggish since, I can't even use Firefox due to how painfully slow it works now.
It seems I've been having random BSOD Stop errors ever since I put my new PC together about a month ago. I'm not sure what's causing it, and it's happened when I've been doing different things, but it almost seems to happen more frequently when I'm listening to Pandora Radio on my web browser (chrome).Switched my BIOS from AHCI to IDE (read on google this fixed some issues). whether it be watching a Internet video or trying to view a document on google docs, my browser stops responding. i try to go to my other programs and they stopped responding as well. ctrl+alt+del doesn't do anything either, so i'm forced to manually shut down the system. this has happened a couple of times today now.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've always had a bit of trouble with BSODs on almost all of the computers I've built, however this latest iteration of my machine has been the worst. It started out fine and never caused any problems, however, about 4 months ago I had an issue that my computer would blue screen 0x00000050 or 0x0000001A both randomly and during shut down. I fixed the problem then through forum reading and trial and error. However, the problem never completely went away. I still randomly, after prolonged use (8-10 hours of heavy use) get crashes with the same stop codes. They are both memory related so I thoroughly scrubbed the ram using memtest and came up with no errors. I've taken the time to update the drivers (as well as my bios) that I can find but don't have the time, or the patience, to read through the dumps to find the source of the problem.

i been having a problem with seemingly random bsods and crashes (ie where the computer forcibly restarts without generating a dump file). i think the crashes happens more frequently when surfing the internet, especially while watching Internet videos, but that might be a wrongful perception on my part.

I have had a persistent and very hard to troubleshoot problem on my PC for the last couple of months. Occasionally when trying to install applications, the installer will not progress beyond 0% or takes far too long to do so. When this happens if I close the installer and retry I get an error along the lines of "you already have this installation open". If I find that process in task manager and close it I can try again, but the same problem will occur.This does not happen with every program, my guess is it happens to perhaps 10% of programs. There seems to be no link between the installations that it hangs on. I do not have a list of applications that the error occurs on currently although I can see how that would be useful. It does not matter if I am installing to my SSD or HDD, the error has occured on both.

Event viewer says it is "Log: System / Source: Kernel-Power Event ID: 41. I am inexperienced at reading Minidumps, but one dump suggests "wininit.exe" and another "crss.exe", not a lot of help there. It has not always been doing this, but unfortunately started when I installed a whole slew of software (Adobe Production Premium, a Cintiq tablet, etc) so it's hard to pin that down.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI installed a 64-bit Windows 7 operating system. This had been used on another computer which I threw away the hard drive for, and I was having trouble with activation stuff so I used removeWAT since I did pay for a copy. I include that detail only because it might in some way be the cause of this problem, but I highly doubt it and it would be odd if it was the cause.Anyway, before I got an antivirus or any other program I installed parental control software on my computer (Safe eyes). I connected the computer through an ethernet cable to my modem/router (not sure which it is, never took the time to learn). When I ran the "test" the program provided to see if it worked correctly, it said the test failed. I then fully installed the program ignoring the test, and the software simply didn't block anything. Usually when it's not logged into a profile, it blocks all internet access. But this time it was not logged in and anything could be accessed.
After a long tech-support call spanning solutions such as winsock resets and internet explorer options and other stuff, the tech support team could not find what was wrong. My firewall is off, I don't have an antivirus, so nothing should be blocking the software.I uninstalled the parental control software and installed another one called mobicip, which has been working fine.No further problems occurred until we fast-forward to a couple of days ago, when I tried to install the planetside 2 (a game) beta. When I ran the installer/downloader program, a logo showed and stayed, and the program never moved forward as if it was being kept back.Well, you guys probably don't know anything about that game so I won't go into specifics. But for both the parental controls and this game, the only answers were "something is blocking it". Very vague.wo programs I tried to run seemingly randomly are being blocked by "something". I don't have an active AV or firewall, and I highly doubt I got a virus since I haven't really done internet browsing on that comp

View 1 Replies View RelatedI turned my computer on to find no audio playing. My main audio device plays bac audio from DAW just fine but if I load a video in WMP i get a code C00D11B1. If I try to play a test tone in the sound settings I get "Failed to play test tone". I have other audio devices connected and also get the same errors which makes me think this is a registry error or some windows communication error. The only thing I think might have caused this is when I was trying to get my ram to run at 1866. This is a new build and the ram should run at this speed as it is in the QVL but that is another issue. I should also mention that I have tried reloading the device drivers, updated the BIOS, and restyored windows from a previous state with no change.

the newer smart phones have nice powerful processors in them so I was wondering if the DAC (Digital / Analog converters) in these are as good as the ones in a typical LAPTOP computer set up -- bog standard on board sound from a laptop computer -- not high end specialized studio stuff etc.My Galaxy III S phone can play FLAC files and plugging the output into a DECENT set of speakers appears to me to be just as good if not better than the same sound played from the computer - a relatively decent laptop computer (Sony VAIO VPCEH with Intel I5 processor). I tested this by connecting the phone DIRECTLY to the pre-amp with the music on the phone's micro sdhc card. Had I done it via the USB then that might have needed another DAC conversion so the test cases wouldn't have been the same.I use a phone app WINAMP PRO (just like the PC version) so I can use Folders / directories to play the music and it can play FLAC too -- a lot of music phone apps lack this facility which is a shame. I like also the "play by folders" too -- as I have a lot of Audio books -- saves endless tagging and creating playlists / albums. --Just point winamp to the directory / or file and play it.I find also streaming music from the phone to the receiver device seems to work better than messing around with pc software too -- especially on a laptop.Another app here -- OrangeSqueeze in conjunction with SQUEEZEPLAYER -does the job of the logitech squeeze server on the laptop. The phone will stream music from a Network (or any acessible drive) to the player device(s) -- no prob but use the Wifi on the phone --not the DATA content from the phone company !! otherwise your Bank balance will diminish faster than Spain's Economy.
I used to be very sceptical of smartphones --even have some posts on the forum saying I'd never buy them -- however I have to eat my own words -- the latest crop with the latest Android version are incredibly useful now and possibilities seem quite exciting with what you can do with them.Seems to me that we don't need to do much Multi-media streaming from Windows 7 in the future as your phone will handle it. Perhaps Ms is getting this right by gradually withdrawing a lot of multimedia in the standard version of W8.
Starting about a month ago, after six to seven months of my laptop working fine, I've been getting video and audio stuttering whenever gaming or watching most HD videos and after messing around with my drivers I realized that whenever my Realtek HD Audio drivers are disabled my video runs flawlessly, but when enabled both video and audio stutter. I'm using a Sony VAIO laptop so I'm assuming that the sound card isn't easily replaceable. I've tried using the newest drivers straight from Realtek's website and also the outdated driver provided by Sony's website, both of which result in the same stuttering. Sony has also replaced the motherboard once and it did not resolve the issue.I'm currently running Windows 7 with 6gb of RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce 330M graphics card.
View 16 Replies View RelatedYesterday when I got home I could not get my headset working on my PC. It's a USB headset (Tritton AX720) but it works perfectly on my Xbox 360. There is sound coming from the headset but it is really quiet. My speakers to my computer work fine, it's just when I plug the headset in I'm not getting sound. I was working on it for about an hour last night and I can't figure out what is wrong with it. So far I've tried to make it my default audio device, I did a system restore to a few days ago, and messed with the setting a little bit. This headset has worked on my PC for about 6-8 months up until yesterday. By the way my audio for my computer is still working perfectly. It is only when I plug my headset in that it isn't working properly. I'm completely lost on what is wrong.
View 1 Replies View Relatedhow i can reinstall my main audio drivers so they stay installed and so i don't have to uninstall and reinstall them at every startup. it still says it's in use if i try to test it before reinstalling. to reinstall it i've been going to playback devices, right click properties, click properties on the new window, change settings on the next, last window click the driver tab and uninstall. then i go to device manager and scan for changes. it's really a pita DISREGARD THIS: ok so i've been trying to port audio from firefox to reaper + asio4all and found that i can do it with VAC. i first tried another program called virtual audio streaming but that didn't work. when i got VAC i uninstalled VAS first. since i've had VAC installed i can't listen to anything over my monitor's speakers (have computer hooked to monitor with hdmi). if i have "Digital Audio (hdmi)" set as the default audio device, the audio won't even start. for example if a start a movie in vlc and then realize there's no sound i can't just switch the default device to something else (usually can do this) i have to stop the video select a different device and start the video again. flash stuff online just won't play until i change the device. if i try to go to the properties of "Digital Audio (hdmi)" > advanced > and hit test it tells me the device is being used by another program. this was making me think that maybe it was because VAC was using that device to port the audio from windows or something. didn't really make complete sense but i uninstalled VAC, restarted my pc and it still does the same thing. i tried uninstalling the drivers (windows default drivers, the downloadable drivers IDT high def audio cause problems with other programs so i don't use them and would prefer not to) and restarting so they would reinstall but that did nothing.

I have tried two pairs on headphones and my tv speakers all with the same results. I have looked at all the balancing end everything is set to even on both channels.

I have a HTPC setup. PC includes an ASUS MB with on-board video and audio, including options for either separated analog 7.1 audio out or HDMI out (among other output options). Current setup routes Audio and Video via HDMI to Pioneer VSX-1020 A/V receiver, and routes video from there to HDTV via another HDMI cable. OS is Win7 Ultimate x64, w/SP1.

When I play audio files, the receiver can fake the signal into all 5 channels (I don't have a sub, so the .1 is not relevant here), so there's no issue of the receiver not accessing the available speakers.
The main issue is this: When I look into the Sound Control Panel, under Playback Devices, the active/default device is ATI HDMI Output. Also listed are Speakers (not plugged in), Realtek Digital Output and Realtek Digitial Output (Optical). I do not have any analog cables plugged in, nor do I have an S/PDIF (optical/coax) connected. The HDMI works, but only gives me the option of Stereo (2ch). When I go to the Configure screen for the ATI HDMI Output, I see a list of Audio Channels, but that list ONLY contains Stereo.
I recently changed my case and MOBO to a G41M-Combo (Intel). Ive never used front panel before due to not having the option on my sound card. Now that i have this new MOBO it has on board HD 5.1 so im using that to save room on pci slots.I have the options set to notify me when 3.5mm is inserted and the same for front panel, and also have set redirect headphone and to mute speakers when inserted.When i insert my headphones to front panel, I have no notification and speakers dont mute. Also the port doesnt light up to indicate its in use and the sound is extremely quiet. Ive tried all i can think of. I have newest drivers, checked bios settings and played around with audio settings with no joy.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI first noticed this problem when I tried to open iTunes and it came up with the message 'iTunes has detected a problem with your audio configuration. Audio/video playback may not operate properly'. I also cannot listen to music or things online either.I have looked at my computer's device manager and can't find any catergory such as 'sound, video and game controllers', which one site suggested to try and check the sound card. I have also tried to update quicktime but that did nothing. I have also tried looking at 'sound' and under both the playback and recording columns it says that there are no audio devices installed. THis appears to be the common phrase along a problem with the audio configuration. This has not ever happened to my computer before and I have had it for about 3 years now. It is a toshiba laptop with windows 7 home premium.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm having problems with my sound, I'm getting a very loud buzzing sound and nothing else. My computer is only a year old (self built) and I have never had this problem before, I got home from grocery shopping and it was buzzing.
What I did to try and fix it:
- thought headset was broken, used speakers, still buzzing
- used windows troubleshooting, said my port wasn't being detected, fiddled with it a bit and tried front ports. front ports causing buzzing as well
- checked for driver update, nothing
- uninstalled driver (buzzing stopped)
- re-installed driver and buzzing started again
So, i do think the problem is the driver, but i have no clue what to do about it.
so i have a desktop running two monitors one via hdmi one via dvi i have my main desktop on one monitor to do internet Internet etc. and run stuff like movies games and stuff on the other. can i run two sets of audio one from the audio jack on my pc one from the hdmi to the screen? if not is there any other way to accomplish this?
