I have started recieving BSOD recently and would love some help. The crashes started after I had spent a while trying to reconnect to my home wireless (I have an often faulty wireless adapter.) At points I had unplugges the adapter and plugged it back in causing it to install drivers again. Once I got reconnected I had my first BSOD while on facebook. I tried going back on but it just kept crashing after a 5 - 10 minutes.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm getting a consistant BSOD. At first I thought there might be a problem with the case/jumpers so I unplugged all but the main power, but still got BSOD. Then I thought it might somehow be related to SP1, so I uninstalled it, but still got BSOD. Perhaps there is a physical problem with the power supply or MOBO?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just built this computer around the 1st of August this year. It's my second self-built PC and came together without issue. However, I started having blue screens about once a week since maybe the 2nd day after I first ran it. Every single blue screen seems to be linked to the video card drivers crashing. Usually the drivers will crash and successfully recover as stated by the helpful little message at the bottom right.When the display drivers crash, I'm usually in a game of TF2, League of Legends, or even in Mozilla Firefox. The screen will freeze, sound will continue, and after 15 seconds or so go black for 2-3 seconds then go back to normal. The display driver crashing has happened TOO MANY TIMES TO COUNT and seems almost entirely random. Sometimes it will crash 3-4 times in the span of a half hour in League of Legends and sometimes it can go several days with no crash and the same amount of activity on the computer.
I've tried everything I could possibly find on the internet and from friends in terms of troubleshooting the display drivers crashing. I've diagnosed my memory, updated drivers, tried older driver versions, updated everything Windows has recommended, checked temperatures constantly... I'm starting to wonder if all of these issues could possibly be linked to insufficient dedicated memory on the video card? It says 1 GB on the box but when I check in system information it says around 750 MB... which sounds dangerously low to me.One more thing... the blue screens have happened 4 times so far, the last happened about an hour ago and the computer has been sluggish since, I can't even use Firefox due to how painfully slow it works now.
i been having a problem with seemingly random bsods and crashes (ie where the computer forcibly restarts without generating a dump file). i think the crashes happens more frequently when surfing the internet, especially while watching Internet videos, but that might be a wrongful perception on my part.

Event viewer says it is "Log: System / Source: Kernel-Power Event ID: 41. I am inexperienced at reading Minidumps, but one dump suggests "wininit.exe" and another "crss.exe", not a lot of help there. It has not always been doing this, but unfortunately started when I installed a whole slew of software (Adobe Production Premium, a Cintiq tablet, etc) so it's hard to pin that down.

CP850 psu, p8p67 pro mobo (36c), i7 2600k chip (37c) at stock speed while I'm figuring this out.

I'm not sure what's causing it, and it's happened when I've been doing different things, but it almost seems to happen more frequently when I'm listening to Pandora Radio on my web browser (chrome).Switched my BIOS from AHCI to IDE (read on google this fixed some issues). Did not fix the issue.Read the windows website and attempted to get a hotfix for SATA hard drives (something about them not waking up in 10 seconds). whether it be watching a Internet video or trying to view a document on google docs, my browser stops responding. i try to go to my other programs and they stopped responding as well. ctrl+alt+del doesn't do anything either, so i'm forced to manually shut down the system. this has happened a couple of times today now.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have had a persistent and very hard to troubleshoot problem on my PC for the last couple of months. Occasionally when trying to install applications, the installer will not progress beyond 0% or takes far too long to do so. When this happens if I close the installer and retry I get an error along the lines of "you already have this installation open". If I find that process in task manager and close it I can try again, but the same problem will occur.This does not happen with every program, my guess is it happens to perhaps 10% of programs. There seems to be no link between the installations that it hangs on. I do not have a list of applications that the error occurs on currently although I can see how that would be useful. It does not matter if I am installing to my SSD or HDD, the error has occured on both.
View 5 Replies View Relateda few weeks ago my computer starting experiencing a few crashes. these initially only took place when playing a computer game such as world of warcraft. the crashes intially caused the monitor to go black losing connection, however the sound loops for about 10 - 15 seconds before finally stopping.
however in the last few weeks, the problem seems to have grown since it is crashing simply when the browser is open on such sites as Internet. the time between the crashes has also become more frequent.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI brought a HP Pavilion laptop from ebay quite a while ago now, the only problem listed was that the battery didn't work. The laptop worked fine for months and then it started to crash, when it crashed I couldn't do anything, the mouse wouldn't move and none of the keys would work either so all I could do was hold the power button in to shut it down. The charge light seems to flash just before the laptop crashes. I thought the problem might of been with the battery so I brought a new battery for the laptop. It still wouldn't recognise there was a battery plugged in, sometimes it won't have a red cross on the battery but will say "plugged in but not charging". I have noticed now that when the laptop does crash if I unplug the charger for a second and plug it back in (as the charge doesn't hold on the battery) the laptop will start working again. I was thinking the problem may lie with the charger or the bit inside the laptop the charger plugs into.

View 13 Replies View RelatedMy computer will randomly reset itself and reboot from DOS and back to windows again. These intervals would range from 5 mins from startup to 3 hours or more so they are completely random. This has been happening for 1 year now. Recently the intervals have been getting shorter and shorter to the point where my computer will reset upon 2-5 min of start up after hitting windows guaranteed. I get no error messages or indications that it is about to happen. Normally I'd jump on the overheating bandwagon but the strange thing is, my computer does not reset ever if I am playing a graphics intensive Video Game (battlefield 3 to name one).
It only resets if I'm not really doing anything intensive such as word processing or browsing the web or watching a movie. All these simple tasks will cause my computer to reset after a random time period. Anything where my CPU/GPU churns into motion prevents these resets. This I cannot explain. A problem which also happens (and I feel might be related to cause this) is that if I ever shutdown my computer, it will not boot (windows cannot load). And I have to system restore to get my computer to run again. So I have never hit the shutdown button in a long time.
I keep getting the same error at random intervals and I dont know whats wrong.

I've had a computer running rock solid for about 18mths. I've just used ~70% of it's parts to build a new computer for my dad and since then he's been experiencing constant BSODs. The computer is running a freshly installed over-the-counter bought OEM copy of Windows 7 Home Premium x64 which is up to date as of last week. It will run fine for an unpredictable length of time between 15mins to half a day then BSOD. Sometimes it will then get stuck into a "crash-reboot" cycle and he will have to hard power it off.
The computer is less 18mths old. The parts I have been using confidently over the last 18mths are as follows:
- MOBO: Gigabyte P55-UD4
- CPU: Intel i5 750 quad core (never overclocked).
- RAM: 2x(DDR3 2GB G.Skill 1333mhz)
The new components we installed are:
- GFX: Asus ATI HD5550
- HDD Sata 200GB Baracuda
- CD Drive: LG DVD writer on an IDE ribbon
- PSU: Antec VP450P 450w
I initially had an old install of Windows 7 on a 120GB Sata drive but when he started getting issues I installed a brand new OEM Windows 7 on the Sata 200GB and even changed the Sata cable. It ran fine for a day then started up again. From what I could see none of the crashes pointed toward gfx drivers - however I've noticed CPUz will only tell me that it's a HD5500 series card and gives me no other info so maybe it isn't being recognised properly . The only other thing to change was the PSU - which admittedly is a budget one (but from reviews should be reasonable) from deduction it's the only thing I can put it down to.
I have an issue with my computer, in firefox and other documents the page will randomly scroll slightly, up or down at random intervals. I originally thought that this was caused by an issue with my wireless mouse, but after unplugging my mouse and keyboard from the computer the problem still occurs. What could be causing this? Vipre is showing me as clean of virus and spyware, my video drivers are up to date, what else should I look into?

It seems i have narrowed down my issue that I have been dealing with for it seems like months now. Well essentially my system will reboot anytime it sits for an extended period of time (about 15 to 20 Minutes). My computer will go into standby mode. I do have it set for my computer to never sleep but only my screens. I have followed the BSOD instructions and do and those to attach to this post. Here is the additional information regarding this problem... Is Windows 7 . . . - x86 (32-bit) or x64 ? - x64 - the original installed OS on the system? Yes - an OEM or full retail version?Full retail version - What is the age of system (hardware)? Eh, varies video cards about a year old, memory and hardrives are about the same length of time. Chip is fairly new within a few months. - What is the age of OS installation (have you re-installed the OS?) OS was freshly reinstalled on 11/17/2011. All drivers for all pieces of hardware in my machine have had the newest drivers updated, including my video cards. I have also done the BIOS update for both of my video cards available from Palit. Oddly enough i can play Starcraft II for hours and no issue with rebooting... only when it sits for an extended period of time as mentioned earlier.

Now today, the other crashes started, with the first happening out of nowhere, the second happening upon starting a video game. I've been without crashes for a while now, only having used my browser(Opera) and copying some files to an external hard drive. As well as the SF tool.I only have 2 dump files available. View 6 Replies View RelatedI reformatted my computer multiple times, yet my computer seems to BSOD randomly.What happenes is that everything becomes unresponsive; cant alt+tab, cant ctrl+alt+del etc etc. everything freezes randomly... then boom, BSOD. its happened twice, with no apparent pattern.And then, when it restarts, it tries booting but then it goes into the boot selection screen and my SSD is nowhere to be found. A couple weeks ago I started having random BSOD and restarts, I have researched several different solutions to no avail. At one point, I thought the problem was solved after restoring a restore point, however, the dreaded BSOD is back after a couple of days.
- Restored the earliest restore point
- Ran chkdsk with no errors
- Ran full scan AV (just in case) using MSSE.
- Updated all Windows and drivers updates.
I believe this is related to a driver issue, however, I'm not sure which one.Attached is both the BSOD App and System Health data.

This started happening last night while i was playing Borderlands 2, it has happened at idle, playing just about any game in my library, during downloads and just browsing the web. I changed all of my accessible drivers, and it continued to happen, so i moved all of my personal files onto my external HDD. I re installed windows on my SSD (did not reformat) and reformatted my HDD. I re installed my drivers, re-enabled SLI and it ran fine for about an hour, just downloading WoW, and then happened again twice.
