Win 7 Keeps Dropping Network Drivers
Dec 1, 2009
I have a problem that is driving me nuts. I upgraded to Win 7 a few weeks ago and since then my wireless connection hasn't worked properly. I have an Alienware M17x (I have installed all the new drivers for Win 7) including updaded chipsets etc. My Wireless network adapter is a Broadcom 802.11n using BCMWL664.sys and vwifibus.sys drivers, connecting to a Belkin F5D7230.
The only way I can get it to work is by uninstalling the network adapter, re-booting the computer, letting the computer re-install the drivers, then manually re-entering the PSK security key for access thru the router then I can get onto the internet. I tried the tech guys at Alienware who said it was a "software" problem and I would have to pay for assistance (i've only had the computer a few weeks) Anyway, there were no help at all.

I have recently installed windows 7 64, The problem I am getting is that it keeps disconnecting from the internet and when that happens I can not even get to the router by typing in the router address it just hangs.
I have a Nvidia nforce 780i motherboard with latest drivers, i have not installed the network controller manager I have tried disabling the IPv6 and disabled the side scalling in options Also I have given my Pc a static IP address on the network I have also disabled the windows TCP autotuning in CMD
The problem keeps happening sometimes its 30mins or a hour and other times it can be within 5 mins of booting up, to bring back the connection I have to reboot my PC, as disabling then enabling my router/network it still won't connect
I have also tried uninstalling the nvidia network drivers and letting windows 7 install its own but still it drops out, the icon in the tray says internet access but it does not connect to webpages or email.
Also sometime i play a online game and it stays connect i tab out and try a webpage and just hangs , but the online game is still going ?, i close the online game and webpages still dont work

Acer Aspire 7745 Notebook (purchased 10/25/2010)Win 7 HP 64-bit (build 7600) (last update 11/11/2010)Broadcom 802.11n Wireless Adapter (5.60.48.35)Since the last update, the wireless network keeps dropping its connection randomly. Windows Network Diagnostics says it can't connect. Status shows limited connection. Manual disconnect and re-connect says "Not in range" although it shows in the available networks with strong signal. Disable and re-enable causes the entire system to lock up and I have to power down. The only reliable way to reestablish a connection is to reboot or wait some random amount of time until the system decides to recognize the wireless network again.

My network cards drop the connection and are listed as "unplugged" every time I game online, regardless of the game. I have 2 internal Realtek PCI GBE family controllers on an ABIT IP35Pro mobo. There is no set instance of why/when this happens only that it is completely random and I get the usual Event ID's in the system log after it happens:
The TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper service was successfully sent a stop control.
The reason specified was: 0x40030011 [Operating System: Network Connectivity (Planned)]
The Computer Browser service was successfully sent a stop control.
The reason specified was: 0x40030011 [Operating System: Network Connectivity (Planned)]
There are no other events, Application or Security that happen right before these events other than MS Application experience service entered the stopped state in system log. It could happen every few hours during the day to every 5-10 minutes after midnight( this is what is very weird since it did not do this prior to midnight this many times ). I sit behind a uverse router with it passing through a gateway from 2 powerline adapters. I have no problems downloading torrents, watching movies or anything l else strenuous on the network, but gaming. The only fix I have found is to disable the card and re-enable every time.
I have tried the fixes below with no luck.
1) Disabled Computer Browser service
2) Disabled TCP/Ip Netbios Service
3) Updated Realtek drivers
4) Rolled back Realtek drivers
5) Changed IP address
6) Reset TCP/IP Stack
7) Completely blew out Windows 7 Home and installed a fresh Windows 7 Ultimate I had
8) Disabled windows 7 from shutting these cards off
9) changed power management to never sleep the system

For the last 3 months my internet keeps dropping in and out, sometimes for a long period of time. But it always shows full bars in the wireless network connection on our computers. I have been on the phone to the internet company for hours and hours (each time speaking to a different person-so no help there) and they can't figure out what is wrong.
They sent me a new modem which worked for 10 mintues and then was dropping in and out again. The same issue is happening on my roommate's computer too, and I am able to access other wireless networks in other locations too with no trouble. So not an issue with our computers.

I am suddenly faced with a problem, which has never appeared before.I have a HP Scanner [Scanjet 5530] which since having moved from Windows XP to Windows 7 has until the last couple of days appeared as a DEVICE, and has been workable. However in the last couple of days it has disappeared from the list of Devices and its only by switching it's power supply off and on does it comeback.I can then use it for whatever needs to be done, but as soon as its not needed it disappears yet again.

My primary card is a intel n-1030, but I've also tried a wireless usb adapter and have the same issue. I have even tried a different router. Same result. updated drivers, flused the DNS.

I have install a 3.5" harddisk on a USB 3.0 external casing, when I plug it into the USB 3.0 port, it come up a while (like 30 seconds) then disappear, and never to be seen again. If plug into a USB 2.0 post the same thing happen. The following are my PC configuration:
Windows 7 Pro x64 SP1
Asus P7P55D-E Pro
BOIS version: 1602
USB 2.0 : Intel 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset, Driver version: 9.1.1.1020
USB 3.0 : Renesas Electroincs USB 3.0 Host Controller, Driver version: 2.1.28.0, FW: 3025
External casing is HUR1-SU3S2 with single WD20EARX harddisk.
In the begining, I thought it is the problem of the external casing, but when I tested in a laptop running Windows 7, it is working fine on a USB 2.0 port.

I have Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit, running on a Dell. I purchased this computer back in February 2010, and the internet HAS ALWAYS been wired directly to the router. All of my networking and internet was constant until January 2011, when I switched from Comcast to Verizon (big mistake), as soon as Verizon routers were installed in my house, my computer (only this computer, not my laptop or my Xbox 360) kept losing internet connection, and I had to either unplug and plug in my ethernet cable, or troubleshoot and repair my default gateway. Well I switched back to Comcast again, and this problem is still standing. Every 6 hours or so it happens. I have tried everything involving disabling IPv6 and resetting my winsock in command prompt. So this must be a compatibility problem with my computer and the comcast router, right? The router is a Netgear Wireless-N 150 Router, WNR1000v2.

Windows 7 keeps dropping my connection. It started happening about 3 days ago. Thought I fixed it by turning off my wireless router but it came back. When it happens the connection bar drops from 5 bars to 4. To get it back I have to disable the adapter in the network and sharing center. I'm using a Nexxt Solutions NW230NXT Wireless Router and I have a Atheros AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter.

Since September I've had issues with my internet connection dropping repeatedly. It happens frequently, and everything I've tried to fix it has failed. It's really annoying and I've been trying my best ever since it started happening to fix it. I have a Dell N5110 Computer with an Intel Centrino 1030 Network Card. Here are some things I've tried to fix the problem:
Disabled IP Helper Service
Disabled IPv6
Turned off Power Management settings for my Network Card
Flushed DNS
[code]....
This is the only device on my network that gets any sort of network issue, and the problem seems to be just with Windows 7 as I've heard of people with the same exact setup as me having the same problem, and then reverting to Vista or XP fixed the issue. Also when I use the troubleshooter, it will find the problem and fix it, but the problem will come back. It said the problem was the Default Gateway was unavailable.

I got a new laptop 3 days ago after my old laptop of 4-5 years finally decided to die. Now, with this laptop, ever since I've had it I keep having problems with the wireless losing connection to the internet. On my previous laptop this never used to happen and it was Windows vista. This laptop is Windows 7. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the network adapter, searched online for a new driver (used device manager to do this because I can't seem to find any drivers just using Google) and there was no newer driver available. I've checked the power options to make sure that it doesn't get disabled or w/e due to power saving. I've un-ticked the box in the power management tab in my network adapter's properties so that it doesn't get turned off to save power. I've also uninstalled Norton to see if that was causing the issue. The network adapter I have is an Atheros AR9485WB-EG. The drop outs usually happen when I speedtest, do Windows Updates or any kind of updating for that matter and when I try and torrent. If I move my laptop from where it currently is and put it in another room, the internet is fine. So I'm thinking it's the wireless card in my laptop. And as I said above, I never used to have any of these problems with my 4-5 year old Windows Vista laptop.

I have Desktop A upstairs unto which a wireless router is connected for various devices.Downstairs I have a laptop that I use to connect to the wireless network. I also have Desktop B downstairs. I have an ethernet cable connected from my laptop to Desktop B.There is no drop downstairs so I wanted to connect the desktop somehow. I've enabled the wireless adapter to allow other computers to use its connection to connect to the internet. However, 2-4 times a day the connection simply stops.I don't have any of the computers on Homegroups or anything. All network drivers for all devices (wireless and wired) are updated. Using a Belkin N3000 wireless router.

I've been all over the internet, looking for ways to fix my laptop connection - with no success so far.
I'm simply trying to connect my laptop to my router (they connect perfectly fine and the signal strength is excellent) the only problem I'm having is that the connection is dropping every few minutes, leaving my web browser to continuously load. I've tried connecting other laptops and they work flawlessly, without any issues so I'm really stumped why my brand new, 1600 laptop is giving me so many issues!
System: ASUS G74S Series
Network Adapter: Atheros AR9002WB-1NG Wireless Network Adapter
I've looked at my connection status in Network & Sharing and I noticed that no matter where my laptop is place, it will always remain at 65mbps
Code: C:UsersJordan>IPCONFIG/ALL
Windows IP Configuration
Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : Jordan-PC

I am currently at a hotel and am using their wired internet connection. Everything has been working fine until this weekend when I find that the connection keeps dropping out...specifically:
1) Unable to connect when I plug the network cable into computer on startup...have to plug and remove a couple of times till it connects.
2) Connection drops out every 5-10 minutes or so....have to either unplug and replug cable or enable/disable my network adapter on my laptop a couple of times for it to start up again.
3) The connection problem affects random programs but always internet explorer. I can be on yahoo messenger and msn messenger and even an online game and they won't be affected when the connection drops and internet explorer goes out. However, if I log off any of these programs, then I will have a problem getting back on until I repeat the connection methods listed above. Additionally, some IE pages will continue to function for a while if I click the links in them...just cannot access any new pages...
4) sometimes the connection will drop out but it will show that I am still connected in my taskbar at the bottom of my screen.
Everything else on the computer seems to be working fine, wireless also seems to be working too.

i just bought new laptop and now Wi-Fi keeps dropping every few minutes and the download speed is low with old laptop i'm getting 13Mbps down and 9Mbps up speed while with new laptop getting barely 2Mbps down (note that upload speed i can get 9Mbps also) so 1) there's no download speed 2) occasionally Wi-Fi drops and reconnects (sometimes needs to troubleshoot to fix) 3) when running troubleshoot to fix Wi-Fi, it is giving that there was problem with wireless adapter or access point (which it fixes till next drop).
i've tried to search Your forum and others but dont seem to find person who has all the problems at the same time as mine also the speed under connection status does not go under 54 Mbps

Now, I recently had to change to new ISP, that can't provide cable where I live. It's stupid DSL internet through the phone cable. With my old ISP there were zero problems, but now it's quite bad.Connection drops randomly for about a minute, then it comes back without me touching anything. Windows says it cannot connect to the primary DNS server when that happens. The problem happens more in the evening, which leads me to believe I cannot fix it, but any suggestions would be welcome.
Could it be like, not the line overloading because of other people, but the router getting clogged because of being used all the day, or something? O_o There's 4 PCs connected to the same router by the way so traffic gets quite heavy. I can't use my old router. I tried, but the cable that goes in this one is smaller, phone cable, not the ethernet one I plug in my PC.
