View 1 Replies View RelatedI have two Internal Hard disc's... one is 1TB, and another one is 500GB. I wanna know if there's any problem if I install Windows 7 in 1TB and win XP in the 500GB hard disc and put both in one PC. Could I be able to choose which one to start during boot after that, like in Linux?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI burned a backup copy of my windows 7 disc and it works on my desktop but when I try to reinstall Windows on my laptop, it doesn't work.Like when I try to go to boot menu and choose cd drive it acts like there's no disc in there or something and it doesn't say "Press any key to continue."I've also already tried setting boot options up in bios still not working.I burned it on a dual layer 8.5 disc and also a one layer 4.7 disc and both the same.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Sony Vaio VGN-NW270F 15" laptop with Windows 7 (64 bit) Home Premium. 320 gb. Oh i'm also out of warranty.Computer always freezes at the point where it says "starting windows" and stays frozen. I even left it for alone for 24 hrs and it stayed on that screen.
Things I've tried:
1. I used safe mode to repair windows = just restarted in normal mode and froze at "windows is starting"
2. Used safe mode to restore to earlier point = could not to restore message
3. Created repair disc from another Vaio win 64 = froze at "windows is starting"
4. Used registry clean and malware bytes in safe mode = malware bytes found nothing & reg clean did nothing
5. Fresh install of windows 7 = windows bar loaded then froze at "windows is starting"
6. Reformatted hard drive & performed fresh install = windows bar loaded 7 froze at same point
7. Bought new Western digital 320 gb SATA Hard drive & tried install of win 7= same results
I have an ACER Asprie 57347, recovery disc doesn't work. Every thing I read says hold down ALT then keep hitting F10, all that does is make the laptop beep.
View 2 Replies View RelatedFirstly I should say that I am primarily a mac user, and it is not my laptop I am posting about. Although I am reasonably knowledgable about Windows, I haven't used it since XP, about four years ago, and so am pretty rusty.Basically, my girlfriends computer randomly turned off about a week ago, she assumed it was a dead battery, plugged it in, and then when it turned back on it wouldn't boot displaying error message: missing operating system. As it is a Dell laptop it didn't come with any installation discs, and I totally forgot to even make a repair disc when we got the laptop. I managed to get hold of a Windows 7 Installation Disc and license key for Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit through my university. I think the laptop was previously running Windows 7 Home Premium, but that's all I know, and I'm not entirely sure of that fact.
Anyway, burnt the .iso to disc and have tried to boot several times from DVD Drive. The laptop loads the files from the DVD fine, and gets as far as the "Starting Windows" screen, where it seems to get stuck for a few minutes, until it becomes a black screen with just a cursor (the cursor still moves). This also happens with an 64 bit repair DVD I also managed to get hold of.
My current system was upgraded to windows 7 32bit from vista 32bit (I bought the windows 7 home premium upgrade disc when it was first released). I am going to build a complete new system. Can I install windows 7 64bit from the same windows 7 disc? Or do I have to buy a new windows 7 disc? Is there a way around buying a whole new disc?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen i turn the computer on i get the screen : setup is starting service. Install Windows. The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install windows, click ok to restart the computer, and then restart the installation. I have contacted acer they tried to help with the ALT and F12. Nothing I have tried works.. They told me to order the recovery discs for $20.00. I did , and they dont work either... I contacted them back, and now they say to send it back to them and for $199.00 plus shipping, they will repair the computer..I do not have the money for that..I have the the system disc, the 3 recovery disc and the language disc , that I just ordered from Acer for $20.00.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I have an bit of an odd and I think unique problem (as many searches came up with no solutions). Simply put, my boot manager is missing, but only when my windows install disc is not in the disc drive. It started several months ago and I just left it be, let the disc it int he disc drive and it was not that big of a deal. But just did a clean install couple days ago I re-installed windows 7 ultimate 64-bit on my computer (using an upgrade disc if that makes a difference).I formatted the drive with what I guess is a quick format (the option the install disc gives you). I have tried doing a repair with the install disc but no problems are found every time I try.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been looking to upgrade an older Thinkpad T61 with windows 7, now I've been looking on Amazon and have seen the OEM version. Now I have 7 pre installed on another machine, and will buying an OEM version still work fine. Also I have 64 bit on my main system and I was wondering about compatibility on this one, it has 2 gig's of ram and a core 2 duo T7300 so I think it is 64 bit compatible and just need some clarification. 64 bit would give me some head room if I ever want to give it 4 gigs.

View 3 Replies View Relatedi bought a computer from someone, and the windows 7 ultimate has degraded so bad that i need to reinstall it, but no discs came with the machine. I downloaded an iso image of windows 7 ultimate 64 bit that will supposedly work with a key, which i found with "magic jellybean key finder". I put the iso image, about 3.3 Gigabytes, on a dvd disc. Now I want to back up as best as possible before trying a reinstall, and I am an amateur with most of this stuff. I've been investigating backup methods and software, including the windows 7 itself., but supposedly there is a better way with some freeware like maybe easeus, etc.and I wouldn't be confident with the windows 7 backup this is starting to take way too much time and I need to get this done soon. It would be great if you could tell me if what I've done so far is correct and the best way to proceed with backup and reinstall.

View 2 Replies View RelatedRecency my HP laptop was going super slow and so I decided to use my recovery discs I had to reinstall Windows 7.I was running a dual boot with Windows 7 and Ubuntu. Im not too tech savy and not entirely sure on how I managed to get this set up (lol). But I did. Basically when I started my computer I could use my arrow key to select a startup in Ubuntu or Windows 7.So I restarted my computer and set the BIOS to boot from disc so I could run my reformat discs (That I made legally when i first got my laptop a year ago)Reformated and 30 minutes later at the end of the installation it informed it had failed. I restarted my PC and got this error"BOOTMGR is missing
press ctrl+alt+del to restart"I did this and it keeps bringing me back to this screen.
Ive read many posts that said it has something to do with disc partions and what not, but none of the fixes are workable considering when I try to enter BIOs (F1) it just shows me my system info, then I press "escp" to continue and it takes me back to the error screen.
what key do I use to reject disc in dvd drive in windows 7 xps laptop?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Sony VAIO laptop and tried out Linux on it. This gave me the Gub loader, where when I boot up I choose which OS to use. I am done with Linux, and also notice that I have only 250 GB of my 500GB hard drive available to Windows.
I have two questions:
1. How do I uninstall Linux, getting rid of the Grub loader(it's in my MBR, I believe, so it is THERE, not easily gotten rid of).
2. Can I use a friend's Win 7 64bit disc to format and reinstall my OS, using the Activation Code on the bottom of the laptop?- I'm not really stealing this way, am I? Sony did not provide me with a disc when I bought the computer. The Sony method of restoring the OS does not work here- I deleted the Linux partition and did the Restore, but the Grub loader is still there. So I had to reinstall Linux to get things working right.
I'm willing to completely wipe my hard drive and reinstall Windows, even though it won't be the same as I got it from Sony(don't want or need trial offers or the Sony utilities that it came with)

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have had two hard drives go out on me within the last six months. I purchased new hard drives and need to figure out how I can get windows 7 back on it. I never got around to making an installation disc (you think I learned from my first crash). I still have the confirmation numbers and have looked on windows . com for a download link. Is this possible or do I need to repurchase windows. I I'd hate to considering my laptops are not even a year old and just spent money on the hard drives...
