I tried to install my windows 7 updates for some reason over an hour later it hadn't finished & I had to leave so tried to cancel the install, nothing happened so I just shut laptop. It works fine but I cannot shut it down anymore or restart so my updates can take effect
My Acer Laptop won't boot windows 7, when I turn on my laptop the Acer logo and "Press <F2> to enter setup" appears. Right after that it tries to boot and just restarts itself, it doesn't get to the windows logo it just flashes white at the top left corner and just restarts continuously this way till I manually shutdown. I've tried to access the windows recovery partition by hitting F10 but it doesn't work and yes this option is enabled in the bios. I've run ram checks and hard drive checks and they both checked ok. I tried using ubuntu os and get to its first menu on bootup but whenever I want to run from disk or usb drive the screen goes blank.
i am using Windows 7 ultimate. i am hearing very little or no sound via my PC speakers. however, i can hear sound via headphones.
checked all possible setting as per my knowledge. The point to note here is that sound is working perfectly OK in Ubuntu 11.10. so my speakers appear to be OK.
I have a problem installing Windows 7. I have Acer Aspire 6920 with Windows Vista. I've tried to update Vista to 7 or just format the the whole drive and install a fresh copy but same problem. Everything from the installation is perfect but after this just before the start window to load i get this screen Imageshack - acer . It says that i need recovery and i only can click Exit. If i put my Acer Recover CD, it automatic installs Vista. I am so pissed off. I can't believe i can only run Vista on this Acer ?
I have an Acer Aspire One A0751H that's been running Windows XP on a HDD. I've replaced that drive with a 120GB Sandisk SSD and I'm trying to install Windows 7 from an external DVD. I select the custom install path and select the single unallocated partition for installation. It works fine up to the point where it says "Copying Windows files (0%)..." where it hangs. No progress, cursor freezes, no response. The only other change I've made to the machine is to upgrade the RAM to 2GB of Corsair.I've disabled all other boot devices in bios (no floppy drive)
I am attempting a clean install of windows home premium 64bit, with not much success. The laptop is an Acer Aspire 5553 with Toshiba MK3265GSX 320gb HDD.I have the product key and downloaded an .iso image from digital river, burned to disc and changed BIOS to boot from cd/dvd drive.I also wiped clean hard drive (with DNAB) and deleted all partitions which the OS was stored on using diskpart (I may re-partition the hard drive at a later date) and I've subsequently booted install disc. After default language and and install screens appear I receive message stating cd/dvd drivers missing.I've now started Startup repair which has been attempting repairs for over 15 mins now. Perhaps I shouldn't have run that but I was curious to see if there was any problems detected.I have now powered down laptop as I suspect that it had frozen. After reboot, it has now froze on second 'windows is loading files...' screen and disc drive is constantly whirring.I know from the microsoft website that the drivers for the Toshiba MK3265GSX are included on installation disc, so why is it stating that driver's are missing? I have the option of loading drivers from the installation disc, but I wouldn't have thought I had to do that?
I have a Acer Aspire one D257 with no windows operating system installed. I get a 17 error" when I turn it on. I do not know what to do to fix it, or how to reinstall Windows 7 on it.
I just bought captioned lappy off ebay without OS. I want to install Win XP. It has no dvd drive and I don't have an external drive. I have Win XP pro on a cd, and 7 ultimate on a dvd and as well as it's image in my toshiba laptop. I actually intend to follow the instructions to dual boot but my question is how do i install the first OS on a netbook with no optical drive? Also I don't know if it has a restore from partition, I will check when I get home tonight, but I don't think so.
Acer Aspire One ZG5 Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz 1 GB ram (I have an extra 1 gig stick I will add) 160GB hd
I can hear very well and clearly on a skype call but the other end does not hear me. when i go to audio it says that there is no audio device installed. there is no option of microphone systems on the pull down menu it indicates NONE
can anyone explain to me on how to do this on my netbook? i tried it so many times installing xp on this bullshit netbook but still i don't know why I'm having hal.dll error. Maybe if someone can show me step by step guide for installing windows 7.
I've made the impossible for the driver to work correctly but I can't. I am trying to install the correct Graphic Driver for an Acer Aspire 1410 to no avail. It is a Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family. I've tried to install it:
- Via the device manager - From a driver download directly from the Acer Website. - From Windows Update.
I have installed/uninstalled and I've ran out of ideas. Don't know what to do. Each time I try to do something on device manager there's the yellow triangle with the display driver.
I accidentally reinstalled the wrong Operating System Recovery CD on my Acer Aspire 5534 laptop, and I want to return it back to factory settings. How do I do I restore it back to factory settings?
I accidentally reinstalled the wrong Operating System Recovery CD on my Acer Aspire 5534 laptop, and I want to return it back to factory settings. How do I do I restore it back to factory settings
When i turn the computer on i get the screen : setup is starting service. Install Windows. The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install windows, click ok to restart the computer, and then restart the installation. I have contacted acer they tried to help with the ALT and F12. Nothing I have tried works.. They told me to order the recovery discs for $20.00. I did , and they dont work either... I contacted them back, and now they say to send it back to them and for $199.00 plus shipping, they will repair the computer..I do not have the money for that..I have the the system disc, the 3 recovery disc and the language disc , that I just ordered from Acer for $20.00.
When I press down f10 and ALT at the same time during boot up from the factory recovery disk when seeing the splash screen, nothing happens and the 'acer laptap just boots from the regular hard drive as usual.
I have an acer aspire one and when I turn it on it doesn't ask me to type my password even though I have set one. I have tried resetting my password but it still doesn't make a difference.
I already have windows 7 fom start on my acer aspire 521. Then it got slower, so I installed 2Gb memory. Now its getting slower again. So I want to fully reinstall the software from scratch. I do not have an recovery disk from the binning. So what is the procedure and do i have to reformat the c drive or can it be done without?I don't want the old registry and so on, because thats one of the problems I think.
i recently was using a product called ptedit32. In which i was trying to unhide my pq service to see what was in there. So i changed its boot from hidden to active.(0C was changed to 07) with the other three partitions being 07 as well. This has turned out bad for me now. It seems there is a mbr that is not being recognized. I turn the acer 0ne aspire d255e on and the machine goes to a screen that say can't load windows due to recent hardware or software changes.Status: 0xc0000225It also ask to have the installation disk inserted, of which there is'nt one and the computer doesn't have a dvd/cd drive anyway. It was all on the pq service, which is the hidden partition. I've tried flashing the acer pc as well from usb. and can't get that to work.
Most desktop monitors, when inactive for periods of time(usually preset in o.s. or altered for individual tastes) saves electricity by powering down the monitor, and let it "sleep", but any programs running on the cpu, continue on, unabated. But with these Acer Aspire All-in-one compters are different, i may be listening to an internet radio station, and even though it's not a computer program running,,after a time of inactivity of my manually working (via my keyboard) or something like that, the screen goes black and it kills the internet connection to the internet radio i am listening to. Yes,,if that happens,,i only have to jiggle or move my mouse to turn the screen back on, but is a real pain to have to continually jar the mouse to keep the radio on. Any ideas on how to avoid this black screen of killing my internet radio, and downloads??or anything going on ,while the screen is active?
I have a problem with my laptop. It's 3 years old but it's still fuctioing verry vell, accept that every time I try to start it the BSOD apears, and that happens about 2-3 times the it start normaly.

so my just over a year old laptop fell off of my bed today. When trying to turn on the black acer screen comes up and a few seconds later it restarts. I have tried f 8, just beeps, f 12 still nothing but beeping, alt 10 same. I have tried removing the harddrive and starting it, still nothing. I then tried removing the ram one at a time, still nothing. Could the mother board off went bad?
I am working with backing up my computer and I am dazzled by all the dvd R and RW and minus and plus etc. My dvd drive is listed like this: DVD +or - RW (+ or - DL)/DVD Ram. I am probably on the wrong board but I couldn't get on the "internal hardware" I have no idea what all this means. All I know is that DVD+RW seems to work. The clerk told me that I had better be sure what my dvd drive uses.
