View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently installed Windows 7 on my laptop. Absolutely, and I mean ABSOLUTELY no problems. SO, I decide to install it on my PC. Bad idea, I guess. My computer keeps crashing. Once I run Winamp or get to multi-tasking, it crashes and reboots.
Recently, it's given me a "Solve PC Issues" message about my graphics card. So, I look into it. I can't find a Windows 7 driver for my graphics card and this is driving me nuts!
I've completed a new custom build, but have had problems with BSOD from the beginning with any installation of Intel Graphics drivers or the installation of any graphics card.
When I first completed the build, the XFX-7950 Black was installed. I booted to BIOS without issue, but when I inserted the Windows 7 (64 bit) it would boot through the windows logo screen but immediately BSOD right after going to the first install screen.
I removed the graphics card, and was able to complete the full Windows install without issue. I updated Windows and the drivers on the system but as soon as I installed the Intel 3000 Graphics driver, it would BSOD on every restart. I recovered back prior to the Graphics driver install and installed all other drivers. I updated the BIOS to the latest version.
I have reattempted the XFX 7950 multiple times in different slots, but with the same results. I also attempted my Radeon HD 4550 from my old computer but it gave the same results. It always boots through the Windows logo screen, but BSOD within a few seconds of reaching the password screen.
I broke down and installed Driver Whiz, which did detect multiple outdated drivers that I had not caught, but none of these fix the issues.
I've attached the requested zip. I don't think all BSOD's are showing up, as I've had to use recovery points after installed drivers didn't work. The last .dmp on 19 JUL was a Intel Graphics driver install attempt that I pulled off in safe mode before recovering back to the pre-driver point.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI installed Windows 64 with 4gb of ram and everything works fine, but when I tried to install 4 more gb of ram the system boots very slow or hangs. The bios is updated and the 8gb appears to be working fine in the bios. Something else I notice is that if I boot in the "SAFEMODE" the system will hang at 'CLASSPNP.SYS" Nevertheless when I remove the extra Ram all these symptoms will go away. Additionally I have tried switching the ram to make sure I didn't have any bad ram chips, but it doesn't matter which set of ram chips I use as long as I don't go over 4 gb.
I have checked around and several including Microsoft insist that I need to go into the BIOS and enable the "memory remapping" feature, but I can't find this setting anywhere in the BIOS.
In summary
DG35EC will work great with 4 gigs, but if I add another 4 gb the system runs very slow. I do want to note that I do have two different brands: 4gb 6400 Samsong + 4gb 6400 Hynix.

Every 5-10 minutes my screen turns black, sort of flashes a bit, and then comes back on in different colours and the windows are all different sizes, but then it changes a bit and goes back to normal. Then I get a balloon message from the task bar saying "Display driver Intel Graphics Accelerator Driver for Windows Vista® stopped responding and has successfully recovered." (screenshot below) For some reason it says "for Windows Vista® but I am on Windows 7. When it has come back to normal again, Chrome goes all funny and the tabs won't switch. So if I try to switch tabs, the top thing is on the tab that I have switched to, but the main screen below stays on what the previous tab was. Also, sometimes the tab becomes unresponsive and I have to either restart Chrome or refresh the tab.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI've been having problems updating my Intel Graphics Media Accelerator driver, 8.15.10.2119. It is the version that prevents Win 7 SP1 from showing up in WU. I read a thread about this very issue from 2011, but the link provided to go to Intel to get the latest driver leads to nowhere. I cannot find a place to go to update the driver. I manually downloaded SP1 and installed it and it is working fine. My question is: do I still need to update the driver, and if so, where do I get it from? Neither HP nor Intel is any help here. And would this driver cause IE9 to crash? The computer came with IE8 on it, but I installed IE9 in Nov. 2011. Shortly after, I was getting a message like "Internet Explorer has stopped working". I uninstalled IE9 and went back to IE8, but I had the same problem there as well. IE8 worked fine until I upgraded to IE9. Then I uninstalled IE8 and changed to IE9, where I still have problems. I have contacted MS Support about this, and one option given was to reformat the hard drive, which I really don't want to do. They were concerned about the fact that SP1 was not offered and hinted that the computer would be more vulnerable to problems without it installed. My firewall and anti-virus have turned up nothing. I use Trend Micro Titanium Internet Security.

Is it just using ram from the 256mb slot ? So would taking the 256 out and falling back to 1gb ram improve the graphics ? I havent found any information on that issue and only know that having 2gb of ram can get the card to reach its prime. Intel is making available for testing its preproduction WDDM1.1 graphics driver, enabling the full Windows 7 experience. The driver is the result of an ongoing collaboration with Microsoft to provide OEMs and developers with drivers that deliver all of the required WDDM1.1 features for Windows 7. As a result of the collaboration, OEMs and beta users can stay in step with Windows 7 prereleases for smooth product development.
To explain the jargon, drivers are the link between hardware and Windows, while WDDM is Windows’ Display Driver Model, the overall system for graphics drivers that was introduced in Vista and continued in Windows 7.
OEMs are Original Equipment Manufacturers: in other words, firms which make computer parts (or entire machines) that are then usually sold on by other manufacturers.
In short, the announcement means Intel is taking serious steps to make sure its chips work properly in Windows 7. If there are any problems, it wants plenty of time to sort them out before the official release.
The announcement is also a sign that Microsoft promises to do a better job of working with hardware firms to ensure driver compatibility are being followed through. Many manufacturers complained that they didn't have enough notice of driver requirements for Vista, which led to incompatibility.
And while a few such problems might have seen the device producers blamed for shoddy work, the Vista issues were so widespread that the operating system itself bore the brunt of most public discontent. So Microsoft has as much, if not more motivation to avoid such problems this month.
Of course, Intel is such a major player that Microsoft has to keep it happy (witness the debacle over Intel chips which weren't ‘Vista capable). The real test is whether Microsoft gives the same level of timely cooperation to smaller manufacturers."

View 1 Replies View Relatedso I have a low profile Dell computer in the living room hooked up to an LG LCD TV. It did have an ATI graphics card which used the PCIe slot, and a USB stick for wireless internet. The wireless stick wasn't working great so I've just got a wireless card installed, however it also uses PCIe and there is only one slot. As the computer is not being used for games, the wireless card is much more valuable to have in the slot.When I had the ATI card in there though I could use CCC to adjust the screen over slightly (there is about an inch cut off on the left side of the screen). It is not a spanning/stretching issue, merely just needs a nudge to the left and it will all be good.I have just installed Intel Control Center, but when I click on monitor/tv settings it says that they are not supported.There is no option to adjust this in the Windows 7 display options either, so I'm not quite sure what else to try.
