View 2 Replies View RelatedIve been running Win 7 Ultimate 64 for over a year with no problems. For Christmas I got a new HD because my old ones were full. I copied my files from my two old hard drives to the new one and then tried to do a clean install. After the installation when windows boots for the first time it works, but the picture has about two inches of black space all around and the resolution is at like 800x600. Im pretty sure the only thing i need to do to fix that is install and update my graphics drivers. The problem is after I start installing updates I have to restart windows. When it boots up for the second time all the black space is gone and the picture looks right but it always stops right after the black windows loading screen on the default background with no icons, only my curser. Ive tried to install windows again but the same thing happens. Ive tried safe mode and last known good config. Startup repair finds no problems at all. And when i restore with a system image the problem comes back as soon as I update something then restart.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been using the Windows 7 beta (build 7000) since the day it came out publicly without any problems. I downloaded both the 32 and 64 bit versions of the RC. Whenever I try to install either version I get a BSOD during the install. The DVD boots, it goes through the first Grey Progress bar, shows the new windows boot splash animation, then goes tot he BSOD with both versions.
The message says DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and the bottom displays:

I have tried systematically disconnecting ever component I could one at a time. I have 3 SATA Hard Drives connected, which I disconnected one at a time, and tried only one plugged at a time.
I took out my Belkin Wireless Card
I disabled the SATA, PATA, Network, and integrated sound one at a time in BIOS
Reset BIOS to "Fail Safe Options"
None of these things worked. I am really enjoying Windows 7, and I hope there is a solution to this. I would like to upgrade to the RC, and I hope it is definitely fixed before the beta times out.
The last thing I could think it would be related to is the Motherboard itself, which I dont know any way to get around. I am running a ABIT IB9 with the latest BIOS updates installed.
Video Card is ASUS, Model EN8400GS SILENT, I would remove that, except I obviously wont be able to SEE anything, and I don't have any other PCI-E cards laying around.
I am on an Acer Aspire M5100 desktop that came with Vista 32x preinstalled. I bought a ATI Radeon HD 4550 months ago that worked fine on Vista. I wanted to install Windows 7 64x Home Premium, so I bought a copy through Microsoft, created a boot disk, removed all non-original components (including graphics card), and did a clean install. I installed all my additional hardware and everything worked fine until my graphics card.
When I installed my graphics card, I downloaded the most up to date drivers (I got the link from this site), and rebooted. Upon reboot, my BIOS load, Windows starts to load, and then I get a blue screen. The blue screen flashes by so quick I can't read what they're saying. Then my computer restarts, and we start over again (blue screen cycle).
So I reconnected to the onboard gpu, and it started. Then I went into the Device manager, and uninstalled the old driver. Reinstalled my Radeon 4550, and current drivers, rebooted, nothing. Tried reinstalling windows 7, this time, removing old drivers first, than installing. Still nothing. This happens every time I enable the video card and then reboot.
I'm a noob so I've searched this site up and down. I've heard that maybe I need to update my BIOS. So I went to Acer.com to download the BIOs, and they don't have any listed for my PC.
With that said, I'm at my wits end. If anybody has any thoughts on what to do next, I truly appreciate it.
if i install graphic driver my led screen will get cracked and blue screens appears
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy friend recently installed windows 7 ultimate 32 bit on his laptop, everything went perfect and is running fine.
He then decided to also upgrade his desktop, he had successfully installed it and was able to get to the log in screen without any problems, once typing in his password and logging into to windows, the screen would flicker and go black and blue and sometimes the pc would shut itself off. The error which we could make out before the screen went off was 'Kernel driver has stopEd responding.' something to that effect, I can't remember the exact message. But we managed to figure it was an issue with the nvidia drivers, as it seems to be a wide spread problem with nvidia GeForce cards (my friend has a 8600gt). Now since then we decided to format the hard drive and perform a fresh install of windows 7. Now this wer things get interesting.
We booted from CD and ran the windows 7 installation, when the screen comes up to ask which partition/hard drive you want to install on, we formatted the hard drive on this screen and then tried to perform an installation, the installation started, but stopped at some point and we received a blue screen, now weneva we attempt to boot from cd, the windows installations files are loaded and the windows starting logo is displayed, but then we receive the BSOD.
I cannot provide you with any dump files as there is not operating system, but I have taken a picture of the BSOD that we receiving.

I just received a brand new laptop less than 24 hours ago. It's an HP, 4 gig RAM, Windows 7 pre-installed, etc.I was using it all night on the internet, putting my music collection on iTunes, etc. I had a lot of fun and was very impressed with this laptop. The second time I turned on the computer (the first being the initial install), Windows Updates was configuring and installing all of these automatic updates that it downloaded the first time I turned off the computer. I couldn't believe my eyes, it actually said it was configuring over 22,000 updates after I booted it up. Yes, THOUSAND. This went on for less than half an hour. Then it went to "installing" the updates, which had a progress bar that reached 100% in maybe 5 minutes. Then it was "starting Windows".Then it got hung up on a blue "bird" desktop background that said Windows 7 Premium at the bottom. The mouse was completely moveable but there was absolutely no action I could take. I left it like this for 30 minutes thinking, "well, it's just installing, but it really should give me a progress bar so I know what the hell is happening."At the 45 minute mark, I couldn't take it anymore. I called HP (the manufacturer of the laptop) for support. The guy asks me for the serial number, and I regretfully wasn't pleasant. I think I said "serial number? I haven't even owned this computer for 12 hours yet!"Anyway, he had me force a shutdown. And then upon booting the computer, I got the "this computer wasn't shut down properly". This is complete BS for a computer that even as I write this, hasn't been in my possession 24 hours yet. I am returning this piece of crap, but I want to know how can I prevent this from happening to the next computer I purchase. Is it necessary to not use Windows Updates, because whoever made these has their head up their ***? I mean "configuring 22,687 updates" on a brand new, 64-bit Windows 7 machine?
View 3 Replies View Relatedone day it suddenly crashed while i was watching a movie. it displayed random patterns on screen. kinda like part of the image from the video is on the screen then a black strip and random colors. I restarted the unit to safe mode and left it on and browsed the net and downloaded some big files for how many hours and nothing happened.. there are also times when windows is still loading with the windows logo on screen, it crashes. there are also times when the login screen is displayed and it crashes. it just crashes randomly! so i tried to reformat it. i deleted the partitions and created a new one, formatted it then fresh installed windows 7 ( my previous OS is windows 7 by the way) and started installing the basic drivers and after a few hours, it crashed again...thinking that the driver installed might not be compatible, i tried another fresh install of windows (same execution, delete partition, create, install OS) and this time, without installing the drivers, it crashed again after a few hours... sometimes it crashes immediately after turning it on from cold start!
View 7 Replies View RelatedBlue screen and freezing. This is happening frequently but never has any regularity to it. Sometimes happens after a couple of days and sometimes after a couple of minutes. Also sometimes with only one browser window open and sometimes with 15 or more. Happens with both chrome and firefox. Has not happened with other programs as this lapy only gets used for surfing/email/forums etc. Sometimes happens while the computer is sitting idle right after boot. Very strange.

I was playing a video game earlier today and received a blue screen. When the computer restarted it got stuck on the windows splash screen. I have tried just about everything I can think of to try to fix the computer. I changed out graphic card, ram, power supply for different ones but no luck. Also tried booting to last known working setup. Even restored factory image and still no luck. The computer will not boot to any form of safe mode. I also have ran start up repair numerous times but comes up empty handed.
View 3 Replies View Relatedi bought this PC 2 years ago, i experienced a bluescreen now and then but at this time i didnt really care to look into it, as i didnt know much about PC`s Anyways, since about 2 months i bluescreen almost every second day.99% of the time i bluescreen while playing a game. (Such as TF2).I can tell when i am about to bluescreen, the sound starts to "crackle", with every third crackle i experience a little bit of a short lag (i would even say, its like a really short freezing but only just a milisecond). I ran Memtest and Checkdisk, Harddrive and Memory seem to be fine.My PC is free from malware.I started to read the minidumps out:They always show 2 or 3 different drivers causing the lag.One of them is ALWAYS ntkrnlpa.exe. The other drivers usually differ. Some driver that often shows up too is halmacpi.dll.

I just purchased a new motherboard, processor, RAM, and power supply for my Desktop. I have been trying to boot the computer using my hard drive from my old setup which had Windows 7 on it. Whenever the computer boots it goes from the bios screen to the Windows Boot page with the logo but then it goes straight to a Blue Screen. When the Blue Screen comes up it only flashes for a tenth of a second and then restarts so I can not read it. The same thing happens when I try to boot the computer in safe mode.

I have an ACER ASPIRE 5739G running Windows 7 64-bit.No changes were made on the laptop over the past 2 months, suddenly I started to encounter the "blue screen of death" once every few days, randomly when browsing the internet (no other software was running). It started to do this more frequently, within 1 hour of EVERY startup, I then performed a system restore and now the blue screen appears within 30 seconds of every startup, as well as Safe Mode. The blue screen appears for 15 seconds, the laptop then restarts.I have attached an image of the blue screen below:I know the most obvious solution will be to re-format the hard drive, as the computer is rebooting within 30 seconds of each start up as well as safe mode.Is there any way for me to browse the hard drive on the laptop without loading up the OS, to transfer to another laptop/external HD?I have a couple of really vital documents (only 10mb worth), although the laptop reboots before I have the chance to transfer them to a USB stick. If there was a way to transfer these files, I would be more than happy to re-format the laptop.
