I have about 300+GB music files (mp3, ogg, wav, flac,...) and have k-lite codec 6.9.0 installed. Until some time ago my WMP working just fine and have no problem playing all my music files, but somehow now my WMP can't play mp3 files below 320 kbps smoothly (the sound is stuttering). every mp3 files below 320kbps (64, 128, 192, 256, variable bitrate) always stuttering when played, but the 320kbps files, the flac, ogg, wav all played fine.
I don't know what to do except reinstalling the windows, but i don't want to. all that files are played fine on other devices (my phone, tv, etc).
I have tried enabling and disabling the WMP on windows feature (for resetting), reinstalling the codec pack, resetting media library, disabling all wmp plugin, everything that come to mind, but no result so far.
I have 2 home computers joined through windows 7 home network:
1 is a desktop connected to the d link draft n router via a cable. The other is a laptop with an Atheros wireless n adapter.
Both computers get good internet speeds (20-25mps desktop, 10-20 mps laptop) but the file transfer speeds over the network are usually around 450kbs, once it made it to 1.3mps. Is this a normal speed. Not sure if my settings are off.
Desktop set to auto negotiation for speed / duplex, wireless set to N (40 bgn)
Receive PDF aand WMV files in google gmail. Cannot print pdf or play wmv files. Iam 75 years old and having a problem. Had XP before and had no problems.
My network consists of three Windows 7 machines right now, two of which are functioning as Media Centers hooked up to TVs. The other is a laptop that is used as a regular PC.
One of the Media Center PCs functions as a server with all of the music and video files stores on multiple drives. The other computers have mapped drives to those shared folders on the server.
On the laptop, Windows Media Player adds all of the music from the server just fine, and it can play on the laptop, but when I try to use "Play to >" my media server (which is hooked up to my sound system) I get the following error:
"Failed to retrieve media information."
"Play to >" works perfectly with locally stored files.
Is this a known limitation? Are there any workarounds? It would be nice not to have to Remote Desktop to the server to play music (I like to play music without the TV on or using a remote ).
WMP used to work perfectly with AVI files. I could watch movies, cartoons, whatever with no problems. Then a couple days ago, it happened. I double clicked on an AVI and WMP started up but horrible screeching sounds came from the speakers and when the video was visible it was playing very slowly.
I'm looking for a way to play Realmedia files without installing their software. The two options I see are Real Alternative and KMPlayer. Can anyone give me advice?
Suddenly I've noticed that certain .ogg files aren't able to be played in Windows Media Player. It only occurs with some files; others play perfectly fine. For the files that do not work, they open fine but there is no audio or visualisation at all; however, the time bar (or whatever it's called) still shows properly. The files play properly in other media players but I prefer to use WMP. (I use the codec available here: Directshow Filters for Ogg Vorbis, Speex, Theora and FLAC: Home but although I tried reinstalling it, I still have problems)
I have got windows 7 with the default WMP12 and i cannot play some WMA files that i ripped with a previous version of WMP. It says that they do not have any license restrictions or anything, just wont play them and can't tell track length etc (i presume cant read the tags).
ive recorded a few clips in FRAPS and they were saved as avi files. When I try to open them in windows media player, I see a small thumbnail of the first frame, and only the sound plays. I installed DivX, and it says AVI is unsupported, and I cant find avi codecs for DivX. Since that didnt work, I tried K-Lite codecs, but I still receive errors. gspot says that it uses the FRAPS codec, which is installed.
I've already burned an edited pics on my cd-r using picasa 3, however, it can only be played using the laptop- windows media player. Can it be played in a dvd player?
I had a spy-ware issue and ran Malwarebytes to fix it.My desktop was free of icons except for Firefox and the recycling bin, but my background wallpaper remains the same as it was before.I am unable to create shortcuts (when I right click on the desktop and click 'create shortcut' the menu disappears, but nothing happens). I can still make folders just fine.My documents, music, video, and pictures folders are all empty when viewed with windows explorer. Yet the files still show up when I run programs like SpaceSniffer. My music libraries contained in specific programs (I primarily use Windows Media Player) are still fine, and songs and videos play in programs even though they cannot be found in their folders. Saving files into these folders is not a problem, and they remain there when I reboot. The files previously there do not show up after a reboot, however. When I find a file in WMP, and right click on it to 'view containing folder', the folder comes up empty.
My computer is acting strangely and cannot seem to play video files without them freezing up. I can play up to about 10 mins of video before the audio starts getting scratchy and the video freezes and jumps or my computer will just shut down.
So,I have a nokia n97,and I tried to send a mp4 via bluetooth/usb cable/uploading on card. After I detected it on my phone, the icon was like the one on a music(audio) file, and it was opened with the music player. After a few seconds, the seconds didn't appear, they were listed as --/--,and after a few more seconds,it said unable to play, file corrupted.
i have some troubles to play all kind of media files now. the problem comes out a few days ago and i have no idea what may be the reason. i am very sure i didn't install anything to my computer and there is no notifications to tell me anything that is damaged etc. and i just reinstall the entire computer once today but the problem is ongoing!!!!!!!!!!i am running my computer on windows 7 Pro X86. And the problems is that doesn't matter what media player i use and no matter what type of files i try to play they start to play for about one second then automatically stopped. but if i switch the media player to background then they can play the file till it finish. so far i have tried windows media player VLC KMplayer Real player and quick time player. the file i have tried are mp3 mp4 flv mkv wma wmv avi 3gp and ape.
a funny thing i notice is that when i move my mouse to the minimized windows on taskbar, the preview only flash out for a short time then disappear even i don't move my mouse, not sure if this has anything to do with my problem though.
I noticed my Windows Media Player wont play any mp3 files. I get an error message "Windows Media Player encountered a problem while playing the file" when I try to play a sound file from my WMP library. It will play videos just not mp3 sound files. Also, strangely, it doesnt show in the list of programs in "control panel/programs and features" but it is in my list of pgms in my start menu. How can I get sound to play again in WMP?
resently, when i was trying to get Itunes to work(never mind about itunes, not the problem) i dud deeper into the problem and i gone through some regedit stuff at the RUN wich i was told to do if Itunes was gonna work and then my audio stopped working, my media files to but i can still play games (without audio). dont really know what to do?
I'm in the process of calibrating my subwoofer and want to make a CD audio disc of bass frequencies from this site [URL]. The download contains many MP3 files. I burned the files to a CD and the CD plays on my computer but doesn't play on my Panasonic BD-85. I really don't understand what's happening as I have burned music on a CD and that plays on the BD-85.
What I'm trying to do: I have a FM Transmitter I want to sort the files/songs so they play in the order I want them to play in.
So you ask, what order do they play in now? If you go to the command prompt or cmd and type Dir, this is the order it is playing in
Question 1 In Windows 7 File Explorer or My Computer can you sort the same way the Dir command will sort files in?
Question 2 Is there a way to change the order Dir sorts files in. And I want to have the files sorted the way I want by just typing dir. Not using any /'s after dir.
Out of nowhere, my Win7 x64 Home Professional has stopped playing .mpg files and certain website audio. The response is always "Server Execution Failed"for video files, or "Server Execution Failed
C:UsersJLSAppDataLocalTempplaylist.asx" for online streaming audio.
My experience level on this sort of thing is minimal, but I have tried removing media services (media player), rebooting, and re-installing with no success. FYI I just switched from Kaspersky to Avast, which I'm assuming should have nothing to do with my problem.
my computer keeps freezing. here is a video i recorded to show how it happens. i dunno how to explain what is actually happening. it happens often but depending on its mood. sometime its frequent sometimes its not.[url]computer crash - Internet the problem occurs when playing any type of media file whether its while playing video, music, or watching Internet or any other streaming.
i am using samsung LCD tv and it supports DLNA. I can play all the video files on my LCD tv through windows media player except .mkv format. It does play on pc and laptop but not on LCD tv. The TV does not even show .mkv files. Do i have to install something additional to play mkv files on my tv ?
I have holiday movie clips taken on my Panasonic camcorder. I have copies on both desktop pc and laptop. The files used to play ok on both pc's but will not now play on my desktop anymore. I have tried copying the ones that play ok on the laptop back to the pc but the problem still exists. I can also open the files on the desktop pc using nero quick media viwer but when I try to open with Windows Media Player I get an error message in a dialogue box saying " Windows Media Player encountered a problem while playing the file." I thought I would uninstall WMP and re-install but cannot see this as an option in control panel. I have right clicked the files and associated them with Windows Media Player but this does not help. The files show up as the Type "Movie Clip" ( .MOD Extension)
I have a major issue, I had a Pentium 4/2.8 at 32 bit's with XP SP3, and i just bought a new PC (Intel i7-860 / Windows 7 Ultimate 64 / ATI HD 5770 / ASUS P7P55D Pro / 8Gb Ram / Maxtor 500 Gb - 7200 Rpm). It happens that all (no excepcions) the media files (mp2/mp3/aac/wav etc..)
i copied from the old PC don't work on the new one! I't says that can not play that file type / unknown file type. I have Shark007 codecs installed for Windows 7-64 and the latest drives both for motherborad / graphics. I moved to 64 bit because i use heavy software (Inventor), but if i can't solve this issue i think i'll be back on 32 bits…
