My Vaio Laptop can boot from a regular win 7 with no problem, the repair option is not working to fix the computer so I want to use another boot-able CD to diagnose the problem, but simply wont boot from another boot-able CD but win 7 install DVD, I try Hirens 10.1 CD, basic boot-able xp lite with diagnostics, and so on, and the only CD that can boot from is the win 7 install, any ideas?, I'm going crazy with this, by the way the CD's that I want to use they work in another computer ok.
So far as I can tell, the BIOS says that the 1st boot device is Internal Optical Drive, 2nd Internal Hard Disk Drive. No drives are "Excluded from Boot." I'm having problems getting the OS to boot on the HDD, so I've got my Win 7 Installation Disc in the DVD drive to try to do a re-image. But it won't boot from the CD!
What else could I do/check on this in order to get it to boot from the CD?
I went and booted the computer from the last known good configuration and the system worked. At night she shut it down. In the morning when she started it up, it wouldn't boot. I went and selected the last known good configuration again and rebooted.
my sony vaio vpcyb2m1e won't boot. Gets past the splash screen and then says preparing your computer for first use. However I shut the lid and opened it back up and now I am at a logon screen which says administrator logged on but when I click on it says - your account has been disabled
My Vaio took a bang earlier today and now windows won't boot up and I'm just getting blank screens all the time. I can't even reset to factory as I can't access anything. Hard drive light is constantly on but can't hear much noise from it.
i got a sont laptop model number VGN-NS20E but wouldn't boot up. It come with no windows DVD but did have the product code on the back on the laptop and was running Vista Pro. So i bought an upgrade disc of window 7 (genuine copy) The problem is that when it booted up there was 2 partitions one saying OEM approx 10Gb and the 2nd saying Partition two showing 232Gb. i tried to go over the OEM windows and it wouldn't allow me as it said that the folder was corrupt. This is now where i realy made a big boo boo i removed all the partitions and had just one big hard drive. Now when i try to install Win 7 i click install now it put in the first part of installing windows where a 'tick' shows up beside it then when it goes to the next part (expanding Windows Files ) it just sits at 0% have left it for about 2hours and nothing. so i turned it off and started again but it just does the same thing.

I need drivers for my Sony Vaio Laptop Model PCG-K33 using Windows 7. It came with XP and I have upgraded to Win 7 and have no drivers. Can you give me any ideas about where to find the drivers especially for the display.
I just upgraded my Sony Vaio VGN-SZ491N laptop with an SSD and Windows 7 64-bit.Unfortunately, as I learned after going to Sony's website, Sony only offers driver support for XP and Vista. While I have been able to get most of the laptop's features up and running with updated drivers from other sources, the display driver is still stumping me.The display driver is self reporting as "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter." This standard driver won't fill up my screen (4:3 only - not the 16:9 the laptop requires) and is obviously missing all of the graphics acceleration that a proper driver would provide. It looks like I should be using the Intel 945 drivers, but I can't find Windows 7 64-bit (or 32-bit) versions of the drivers, and when I try to install the Vista versions, it says that I don't meet the minimum system requirements.Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can definitively find out what kind of graphics driver I should be looking for, and how to install it in such a way that the computer doesn't think that "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter" is the end-all-be-all of graphical computer and refuses to update?
I have a sony Vaio laptop and last night, i was streaming a football match when it suddenly froze. I turned it off for a couple of minutes and then turned it back on. I t certainly receives power as it shows the VAIO screen but after that it just displays "OPERATING SYSTEM NOT FOUND". I have tried it several times since then but this is the message i still get.
Whenever I start up my laptop now, it immediately goes to black screen with a blinking "_".I've been able to boot into the Vaio diagnostic by holding F10 on start up.I've ran the hardware diagnostic and found no errors on the cpu or hard drive.I then reformatted and restored the factory settings through the diagnostic. The laptop still boots up to the black screen. [code]

I recently opened my laptop (already void of Warranty) to clean up the dust from the FAN which was giving so much of noise. After replacing the fan - i was able to control the noise - but my laptop starts to powers down automatically. This does not happen always. I checked the below things
1) Power Supply - no issues 2) Battery - no issues
I am not sure what is causing the laptop to power down automatically.
My Sony Vaio Eseries with Windows 7 64 bit won't come out of sleep no matter what button I push. I always seem to have to do a hard shut down (a no-no, i realize) in order for it to respond at all!
We have a Sony Vaio laptop running Windows 7. Over the past two months or so, we have noticed that it will not shut down - the screen goes black (like it should) but the power switch shows that the computer stays on. This also happens when we tried shutting down in safe mode. Any ideas how to fix this? Could it be related to some f the drivers not loading?
