I am trying to do a Windows 7 reinstall from my Samsung Recovery disk, as I have a Samsung laptop. I have received the infamous "windows could not format a partition on disk 0...Error code: 0x80070057" error. Through researching this forum it seems the diskpart program is used to troubleshoot. However, the program only displays English from the command lines or numbers (i.e. - 465 GB).Everything else is displayed as Chinese or Japanese characters. Is there a way to change the language to all English?

So my techie guy is downloading an English version (pirate???) and at same time buying a genuine Spanish version. He says he will then use the key code from the Spanish pack to validate the English version.
Is this possible, and could I encounter any problems later? How can I be 100% sure (before I leave the shop!) that I have a validated, genuine English version of Windows 7 that will continue to work indefinitely?
My new computer has a Dutch spelling checker (Windows 7) but I write most of my e-mails and other documents in English and would like an English spell checker. Can I download an English version of the spell checker from somewhere but at the same time keep the Dutch spelling checker?

View 9 Replies View Relatedcan't seem to find a way to permanently fix it. The problem is that Windows 7 doesn't display Japanese fonts and instead just displays squares. I've tried deleting the font cache and letting Windows rebuild that. Worked for about 2 restarts and then the fonts weren't being displayed anymore.I've tried changing the system locale (for non-unicode programs). That fixes it but I get yen symbols instead of forward slashes in file paths, as well as other symbols being replaced. Creating a new user account seems to fix things but I'm the only one that uses my computer so having another account and having to select my own account on login is annoying. I have the Japanese keyboard added as well as Microsoft IME.I've found that just restarting a few times normally gets the fonts to display correctly but most times that I boot up the fonts aren't displayed correctly.
Specs:
Windows 7 Pro 64bit (had the same problem in 32-bit W7 Pro)
8GB RAM
i5-2500k @ 3.3 GHz
Programs where fonts don't display correctly: uTorrent, Foobar, windows explorer
And before someone mentions language packs and the Ultimate version of 7, no, I don't want to change my input language. I would just like to display Japanese. This can, and has been, done in the professional version.
I'm trying to install some applications on a Lenovo ideapad with windows 7 home premium, 64-bit, SP1. I'm getting the following error - "The version of this file is not compatible with the the version of windows you're running." I've installed all of these specific applications (e.g. RealPlayer, Logmein, Windows 2007 Compatibility Pck File Format Converter) and many other 32-bit apps on other Windows 7 64-bit machines, including 2 other Lenovo laptops with the exact same specs, purchased at the same time, with absolutely no issue.

The issues have got worse and it turned out to be a stuffed drive, out of warranty, its basically stuffed.I got a new HD and installed it, but when i went digging for the Windows disc that came with it i couldn't find it. Some googling tells me that this laptop does not come with any install discs (seriously, wtf?!) only some manuals and other paper work. There was however a recovery drive which i assume was a partition for re-installing windows and the rest of the included bloat ware. Without a Windows 7 disc we could not install it on the new drive, so i downloaded an ISO on my machine and created a DVD, but the idiot i am, i downloaded it in the wrong language. I didn't notice the NL at the end of the file, which im assuming is Netherlands? Please excuse my language ignorance if im wrong.I know downloading software is wrong, i dont need a lecture. I'm just not going to pay for another copy of Windows 7 because the scumbag laptop manufacturer wont even include a bloody install disc!I have the product key of course, luckily the sticker on the bottom of the laptop was still visible.Sure i could download another ISO, but being bad once is enough for me and our net is pretty slow.

Assuming that all of its English features in Windows 7 will be converted to Spanish, is there a way to make it so there is no slight hint of Spanish in my system? It would be kind of silly to learn Spanish just because Lenovo made a bug in their system.. sigh.
Also, does anyone know if the Windows 7 COA sticker will say "Spanish" on it? I'm just curious about this one.
