User Accounts Missing At Login Screen And In Control Panel?

Jun 27, 2012

I don't know what I did but the main user account (and another) is missing at the login screen. I managed to create an administrator's account which is visible but I can't see the other user accounts at login or in the user accounts control panel. I've activated and verified that the missing user accounts are active by using net user "username" /active:yes command prompt. The user's folder's are still on the hard drive

User Login Profiles Missing From Screen

Apr 17, 2012

I came across this issue this morning on my home PC. I have a Windows 7 64-bit PC with three profiles, my wife's, mine, and my daughter's. Previously when someone tried to log in all three profiles would be displayed so each profile could be selected. However this morning instead of seeing the three profiles I see two options: the active profile and a button that says other users. I select other users and I can log on to any profile so nothing appears to be missing. If I power the system down, when it comes back up I see the last profile logged on and the other users option.

When I click the icon it automatically logs off.

Automatic Login Of Multiple User Accounts

Jul 20, 2010

Is there a way for me to set up automatic logging in at start up of, lets say, 4-5 user accounts? The accounts serve no purpose other than running different instances of a program that I could then manage from my main account, but for each instance to initialize, I have to manually log in to each account on system startup. (I'm also seeking to find a way to hide those accounts, but I can't do so yet because I have to log in to each account every time I restart my computer.) So a program or registry edit of some sort would be most helpful

I've done some research, but as of now, I've only found a way to auto-log in one account (presumably intended for main accounts) so this is useless to me. ("control userpasswords2" in Run)

Just to clarify, all of my accounts are password protected, though the additional accounts have very basic passwords (which is required). I do want to keep a password on my main account, and I don't want to auto log in my main account.

Newly Created User Accounts Can't Login To Windows 7

Sep 16, 2011

seen lots of threads about this error message but not in this context so I'm thinking I might get some joy from you oracle like marvels.

A customer I saw today had a family Windows 7 PC with four user profiles on it. All worked apart from one called Hannah. When selected it started to load but then just showed "The user profile service failed to logon. user profile cannot be loaded"

the account was hardly used (Hannah is 9) so we decided to delete it and make a new one with a different name. For some reason the exact same thing happened!

Reading up on this people say to open regedit and go to HKEYLOCAL MACHINE>software>microsoft>windowsnt>currentversion>profilelist. All the profiles for the three working profiles were there but the profile for Hannah or the new profile I made wasnt present.

Control Panel Is Missing And Taskbar Is Missing?

Sep 30, 2011

Ok i have windows 7, Recently i have found out that i have a full list of errors that happened pretty much overnight:Here's the list 1. I can't go onto Control Panel It say's " This operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator" I AM THE ADMIN.. I am the only account too.  2. My Task bar is missing, When i go ctrl-alt-del i see no option to open up my task bar. [FIXED] 3. I cant RIGHT click on anything on my desktop, as well as my folders and stuff. Although i can right click while playing games or browsing the internet, so my mouse is definitely not broken.  So u must be thinking, this guy has a virus for sure... Well if i do have a virus it must be made by ******* Bill Gates. Because i can't find it.I have the FULL version of Trend Micro Cillin as well as Norton 360, I've just recently downloaded Malvare Bytes, and that couldn't find anything as well. I've done a full system scam on both anti-virus programs, i see no viruses. I did get a virus a week ago, but Norton quickly picked it up, I'm thinking it may have changed a few settings in my computer before i managed to delete it.

Missing Control Panel

May 7, 2009

I've tried this twice now (on the same machine) and each time Control Panel won't work; it doesn't open. If I change the start menu to show links to Control Panel applets only some of them work; User Accounts, Display, Power Settings, Windows Update and others just do nothing. This means I can't adjust my display properties to get the correct alignment of my dual monitors, among other things, so I've given up on it meantime.

Has anyone else had this problem, or any suggestions on how to overcome it?

Missing Control Panel Options For Touchpad

Mar 22, 2010

I have an Acer Aspire 5532 laptop running Windows 7. As of yesterday, my touchpad started acting up. The tap option that allows you to click by tapping the pad rather than clicking the button keeps toggling on and off by itself. It also lost the scroll function. The sensitivity is also out of whack.I went to the control panel to try to readjust the settings and for some reason they are missing. The Control Panel does not have any options for the touchpad. It doesn't even acknowledge that it exists. I have tried downloading drivers that were supposedly going to fix the problem, but nothing has changed. How can I gain access to the touchpad options and get it back to the way it was?

User Accounts Missing, Restore Points Unavailable 0x80070057

Dec 30, 2012

Having turned on my Windows 7 Ultimate x64 I found my user accounts to be missing and was left with an Administrator account. It seems that the system has reverted to a very old restore point. I have tried using the restore points (recent ones are displayed, but I get the 0x80070057 error). My data seems to be intact.I have Windows and all programs stored on an internal SSD-drive and the data on an internal harddrive. I also have a recent Acronis image on a NAS. I am hoping there might be a way to solve the problem without using the image.I have tried booting in Safe Mode, but the restore points are still not functioning.

EDIT: I remembered that I had used a new USB-stick which would not eject correctly, before turning off the computer. I tried reinserting the USB-stick before restarting the system and... everything went back to normal.

Can't See All User Accounts At The Log In Screen?

Jan 7, 2012

When I boot my machine (Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit) I get to the user accounts log in screen where it attempts to auto login and fails. I click the little "ok" button and see two user accounts, myself (BlackViper) and "Other" with no picture, and a blank for the password.I have no password on my account, but when I click on the icon associated with my account, it asks for one. I can leave it blank and log in just fine.I then "log off" and see three user accounts at the log in screen (Administrator), (BlackViper), and (Anawvyah). At this point I can access any of the three, and they all work just fine and the correctly associated pictures are there...

User Accounts Not Showing Up In Windows 7 Log On Screen

May 1, 2012

On my friends laptop, when she boots it up, it gets to the log-on screen and instead of having her account there, it's just the blank blue background and it doesn't say the Windows 7 bit at the bottom of the screen or have the shut down/sleep mode options and the cursor is in the middle of the screen, but it's not the normal cursor, it's larger and looks like the cursor from older versions of Windows. It is also frozen in place, and you can't move it. And when you close her laptop, it stays on instead of going black. We've tried looking it up already, but it's either just people having similar problems on other operating systems or people who are only missing some user accounts and can still log in on one. We're pretty sure it can't be a virus, because she scans her PC regularly with Avast, MalwareBytes, SUPERAntiSpyware and Spybot. (She also has McAfee, which came with her PC and when she tried to uninstall it, it made her computer bluescreen and then start frequently bluescreening randomly for a while, but soon stop)

Change Order Of User Accounts On Welcome Screen

Oct 24, 2009

I used the premium upgrade version to upgrade my vista to 7 and loving it so far. With vista on the welcome screen it was alphabetical so with my name beginning with "A" my name was first, my parents who I start pff woith my mums name "L" 2nd and my sister "M" 3rd but since the upgrade the order changed and now I'm 3rd, my sister second and my parents first.

NOt so big a deal but I was use to the old order plus with my name being first I just had to hit enter and type in password now I'm too lazy to use the cursor to click on my name or the arrow keys to go to it hahaha nah but just was use to the old order and wow I've made a long post over something so dumb.

Manage User Accounts Screen Is Blank?

Jun 20, 2012

My computer was a display model from a store. It had apparently been set up with a super administrator account. I had set up other administrator accounts and deactivated this account. I think I was trying to rename it because I had allowed remote access to some people I didn't trust and there was logon stuff left on my computer. But after that, my administrator accounts won't let me manage other useres. When I click on the screen, the selection box is blank. One the screens for my account, the image box is blank. I also lost access to all the files owned by the account that was deactivated, but I was able to give myself permission to view them. When I go to the command prompt and type users, the old account name is there. But when I try to activate it by issuing active/yes, I get a "can't find the file message."When I also turned on the administrator account, and it has the same issues as my current account.I think I should be able to manage other accounts,, so there must be some permission list somewhere that needs to be changed, but where and how? My next attempt will be to create a new account and try to copy the stuff my the deactivated one to that in the hope that it will give me a new account with the same super user privilege turned on. But that is a security risk that I would like to avoid if I can.

My original profile loads fine but nothing else. I think It may be because the folder that holds all the basic information to make a new user profile has been deleted from my Users folder. Is there anyway of fixing this? Prohapps a place where I can download and replace that folder? I am using windows 7 ultimate 64bit. System restore has already been tried but the folder was deleted too far back to recover by that method.
