I have had no luck installing 7 on my Qosmio G35-AV600.
Tried several versions (beta, RC, RTM) all crash on the same spot during install.
I know the OS's are good as I am using the RTM to type this post on my desktop.
When I install - clean on a formatted drive - about halfway through the computer reboots, blue screen error flashes (too fast to read) and the start windows normally screens comes up. The notebook has onboard raid and I have to manually install the drivers as requested by windows since the install cannot see my (2) sata drives. Tried the Vista Toshiba Raid driver and XP driver which I believe are actually the same.
I recently installed windows 7 on my toshiba qosmio f25-av205 with a the geforce go 6600 graphic card and I tried to attach a 2nd monitor to the laptop (sceptre 22") but the 2nd monitor does not display anything when connected and remains black and in standby mode. If I restart the computer with the 2nd monitor plugged in, the laptop's primary screen goes black and the 2nd monitor then displays the regular windows screen.
When i go to the nvidia control panel, it recognizes that two monitors are available and it will even show that the two monitors are on duplicate screen or extended screen, however only one monitor will actually be working.
I've updated my nvidia driver first by using windows update, then by getting updated drivers from laptopvideo2go, but none of the drivers i've used seem to give me two screens working at the same time.
I've tried pressing the windows symbol+p, and it will show that the screens should be duplicated or extended, but only one screen will work. Once the 2nd monitor is working I cannot get the main laptop screen working until I unplug the 2nd monitor and restart my computer.
I've sent this computer to a repair center and after diagnostics (if thats what he calls it) he said my crashes were due to my RAM. He wanted to charge me $120 to install new RAM. Instead I had him send it back and since I am computer savvy enough I installed new RAM myself.
my specs: Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit Nvidia Geoforce GTS 360m 8GB RAM Intel Core i7 Processor 1.60Gh Just re-installed windows 7 Completely reformatted HD
all the literature for the Toshiba Qosmio X505-Q898 (and, I assume, the others in this series) was to max out at 8gb RAM. Well, I am here to tell you that is not true. FYI, I have Win 7 Home Premium as the OS. I initially installed 2 x 8gb Kingston sticks and the Q898 recognized but 8gb of the RAM. I had 2 x 8gb sticks of Komputer Bay RAM in another laptop (HP dv6-6112nr) so I swapped them out. I had read a few threads here and there that Toshiba PC's were "picky" about some brands of RAM. Most of the upgrades were accomplished using Komputer Bay RAM. The HP laptop could care less what brand it had installed. Bottom line is I have 16gb of RAM in both PC's and am a happy camper. Given the price drops of RAM it is an inexpensive way to give some new life to a 2010/2011 laptop.
I rebooted my labtop everything came back ok but the webcam application that normally is under utilities i went to toshiba website installed their so called application but it's not doing anything, what can i do to get it back.
I was playing Fallout: New Vegas when my computer shut down randomly and attempted to restart. It would flash the Toshiba screen and then display a white blinking underscore. Whenever I tapped a key, I'd hear a beep.could access my BIOS and boot screen, but not my recovery partition. went on my brother's laptop (the one I'm using right now) and burned the windows 7 recovery tools to a disc. I booted from that disc, and soon discovered that I could...>Access command prompt, therefore access my c: d: and x: drives.>Run memory diagnostics>Do a system restore>Run startup repairI can see my two restore points but I get an error when I attempt to restore from them about 5 minutes in. can see all my files, but I can't access them. I'm in command prompt right now, and I have access to all my partitions
I was wondering if this came out yet because I checked on both Toshibas website and The Windows 7 homepage and nothing was up as of yet. My dvd drive does that recognize disks and I am not able to chose anything as an option. Other than that Windows 7 has been awesome so far
I just have a couple of questions for the driver experts of the world
I have just treated myself to the Windows ultimate 64 bit (i did have vista 32 bit) and i love it but im a stickler for things not working and it drives me nuts!
1) The windows Media remote isnt working, i think this maybe due to the fact ive gone from 32 bit to 64 bit and im probably just needing a driver? not too sure to be honest, any ideas? apparently its called a "CIR device driver" or am i way off mark here? cant seem to find the driver online anywhere!
2) Toshiba flash cards are not working also, not that i use them that much but it still bugs the hell outta me! any thoughts?
P.S I have managed to get most stuff working in 64 bit including the SD card reader and built in web cam so let me know if can help you with any other stuff your stuck with.
We purchased a new laptop after June 26, which gave us information on qualifying for the Windows 7 upgrade when it became available. Well It didn't say FREE, but to qualify you have to have bought between certain dates, show computer info. Show receipts answer yards of question.. Jump hoops.. An no where does it list a price, or ask you to send credit card info, not in email, snailmail, fax etc..
I just got email back asking for my credit card...
We thank you for all the information that you sent to us. However, there is an instance wherein we also need to collect your credit card information in order for us to complete your request for a Windows 7 upgrade kit.
Does not say how much they plan to charge my card.. Have any of you done the toshiba upgrade??
I recently installed Windows 7 32bit on my Toshiba Satellite A70 series. Windows 7 Update found a lot of drivers that I installed. After I installed them my laptop would keep freezing out of nowhere frequently. Anyone else having this problem?
I bought Toshiba Satellite L640 with i3 Processor, where could I find drivers for my laptop cause I have lacking drivers. Is there other driver software aside from Driver Pack Solution?
I'm just trying to find out why my labtop keeps on turning of on me randomly. when it shuts down it resests itself and comes to the "you havnt shut down your computer corectly" screen. if i go on safe modes then i doesnt turn off, but i cant use all my stuff. i have recenly bout a cooler pad and some compressed air to blow it out but nothing seems to work
I have a toshiba satellite with Windows 7; approximately 2 years old.I would like to reinstall Windows 7 and have a series of Recovery DVDs. However, I am not exactly sure how to go about doing this.I need detailed instructions as I am not very computer savvy.
I bought my son a Toshiba Satellite C655-S5132 laptop running Windows 7 for Christmas. He used the laptop about a week ago, and a couple of days ago tried to use it and it won't boot. Most of the time when the computer is turned on there is simply a blank screen. Sometimes a scree will show up that has Toshiba's name on it with F2 go to utility manager and F12 go to boot manager in the bottom left corner then a blank screen. Then sometimes it screen with Toshiba's name and the F2 and F12 will show up and them after a while something that looks like and underline that is blinking will show up in the upper left hand corner and there will appear a message that says ...
Intel UNDI, PXE-2.0 (build 083) ForAtheros PCIE Ethernet Controller v2.0.1.9(12/15/09) Check cable connection PXE-MOF: Exiting Intel PXE Rom. No bootable device--insert boot disk and press any key
When it opens pressing F2 in Setup Utility the system date is correct, the System Date is correct and Language is in English. You can enter these three and change them. But the CPu Type, Cpu Speed, HDD/SSD, Total memoy Size, an Sytem Bios Version cannot be selected or entere. The boot manager can be entered and the boot sequence can be changed. Nothing else can be done, can't even enter safe mode.
Earlier this afternoon, my Toshiba laptop running windows 7 restarted itself without any prompting. Since then, I have not been able to start it in normal mode without it restarting itself of freezing either during the startup or just after. I can open it in safe mode with networking, but that is it.
Ive tried fixing the registry, Ive tried antivirus software, Ive tried system restores, and Ive tried running a clean boot. None of these have worked.
Recently my Toshiba Satellite laptop which runs Windows 7 is not shutting down. When shutting down, I receive a message that there is a background program running. I have to shut down the computer using the power button. Before I shut down the computer, I close all opened programs and then I open the task manager to see if there are any applications still running and there aren't any running.
Bought the toshiba satellite A505-S6970 for college three years ago. Now the logo shows then the F2 or F12 menu. After which there is only a blinking cursor, There are no error beeps. Additionally the keyboard is entirely unresponsive: I can neither enter the F2 nor F12 menu. After powering I have left it sitting an hour but it was still a flashing cursor. It will not boot to usb if I put in a known to boot usb drive. Similarly it won't boot from a bootable CD or a DVD.
The laptop runs the UTube Toolbox (TB) most of the time so when I went to bed I checked the TB and everything was running fine. I checked it again when I woke up and the screen was black and gave the following message:Check cable connectionPXE M0F: Exiting PXE ROMNo bootable deviceInsert boot disk and press any keyI don't have a boot disk. I tried to create one on my other win7 laptop but I only have cdrws and not dvdrws so I guess it failed because of lack of space to record everything? The cdrw did save some boot files but the Tosh laptop still couldn't load windows.I did manage to run the repair tool from the LT directly and when it finished it said the root cause was a corrupt registry. I presumed it had fixed it but windows still wouldn't load and now I only get the original problem message or the repair thing which never shows a windows and the HD stops sounding like it's actually scanning after about a 1/2 hour
recently i installed windows 7 in mytoshiba A80 series laptop almost all drivers which i used in Win XP OS are working here also but my USB slots are not working so please anybody give the drivers for my laptop ..
i recently installed windows 7 64 bit and i had done back up of all my drivers using driver magician and all the drivers restored well and no conflit.
But i have a problem with my camera, in the device manager it says that the device is working correctly but i cant see it anywhere, i went to my computer, start up, programs but there is no where to start it, am i missing something?
device manager says device working so i am all confused, i did driver update and it said that the driver is the latest one any idea?
in vista in the left hand there would be the web-cam thing hidden and when you put your cursor there it would pop up and start the web-cam,,
in Windows 7 for use since I still had a workable SCSI DVD-ROM: Toshiba SD-M1711. Something went strange after that.
The LED of my SD-M1711 often lightened and it could not read CD/DVD disc anymore! While restoring my system back to Windows XP by Norton Ghost, everything was fine. Cannot say, does Windows 7 give up supporting to AHA-2940U? BTW I tried the driver embedded in Windows 7: Adaptec AIC-7870 PCI SCSI Controller (Emulated), my SD-M177 worked strange too.
i have Toshiba a350-13a laptop , i installed windows 7 from 2 weeks . the function keys isn't working although i installed the Toshiba value added package which is responsible for activating function keys.
Dont know if it should be in here Toshiba Flash Cards is a program that runs when you press 'FN' it displays a top flash card thingy that allows you to use the FN -> F2 etc... keys cant get this to work on windows 7 though anyone got any ideas ill try a few more things i think might be able to fix it but does anyone else have any ideas?
UPDATE: seems to be a error with KeNotify.exe...... When i press FN it crashes KeNotify
UPDATE 2: Running in Compatibility and/or Running as administrator still makes it crash.
I have another problem and it pertains to my netbook which I am currently using until I fix my desktop. I own a Toshiba NB 500 I have owned it for under a year and it has started doing something that has become very annoying it freezes every 2-5 seconds and it is quite annoying I have no idea why it does it
I have a Toshiba Satellite A500 that was preinstalled with Windows 7 home premium. Went to turn it on today and got a screen that said: Windows Error recovery. Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. It then gives the option to run windows start up repair or run windows normally.
The repair option starts but ends up with a grey back ground screen and a mouse arrow on the screen. Nothing else happens after this. I tried the start Windows normally option but it gets as far as the Windows logo and no further.
The only recent change has been the addition of a new modem / router, other then that it has been business as usual with no changes.
