I left my Toshiba Satellite mini laptop (NB255) with Windows 7 with my girlfriend while I am in Afghanistan. We skype all the time but she has a hard time using the laptop for browsing the internet. It constantly freezes and seems to be over loaded while running.I had this same issue while using it in Iraq for a year.I have guided her to clean up disk space, stop start up programs, deleted cookies, etc.Does anyone know how to help her speed this mini laptop up?? Also I am looking to buy another laptop with a max budget of 2500, I need a biometric scanner built in with a webcam, any suggestions??? I have always been fond of the Sony Vaios.
My Toshiba laptop isn't working well. It started get VERY slow at start up then it gave me options for safe mode. It was very slow either way, so I just restored it to factory settings. It worked perfectly, then the next day it happened again.I restored it again to factory settings, now today it's doing the same thing.
I just started using a new Toshiba laptop. Trouble is, opening and closing programs and browsing is slower then I feel it should be. Pages that loaded in 5 seconds on my old machine are taking 10 seconds on this new one, and opening programs causes a good 5 second delay. Also, once a webpage has finally loaded, scrolling jumps rather than move smoothly. Multiple tabs cause quite a bit of hanging as well.
The machine doesn't seem to be under stress, no fans kicking in or anything like that. But it's just not as quick as it should be. I've disabled a lot of things on startup that weren't required, and even turned off transparency in case it was hogging resources. I run AVG antivirus and Comodo Firewall.

MEMORY* 4GB DDR3 1333MHz memory HARD DRIVE* 500GB HDD (5400rpm, Serial ATA)
It takes like 5 to ten minutes to start and I've already tried to clean it with CCleaner and with the msconfig, and it did nothing. and it's just in the start and when it goes to sleep, but besides of that, the computer is running normal. Also I've the antivirus and I don't have any malware or virus
I have a toshiba laptop and I think there may be background programs running because it is very slow. I have window xp and also need to get rid of that and install windows 7?

I have just installed Seven(7100), I like it (it seems like a better Vista version ) but I have some mouse issues, it is a bit hard to explain but when I rollover a link, a folder, a button ... it freezes for few millisecs. Is it a video driver problem ? A mouse driver problem ? Seven automatically installed the graphic driverHere are my specifications : VGNFE21BCore Duo 1.66 GHz1 GB (DDR2 SDRAM)NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400It is not great but should be sufficient, I had no problems with XP and was a bit slow with Vista but have not encountered this current problem.
I just got this new laptop! And its running slow like its an old laptop, I have windows7 starter, [just putting that out there] So yeah it runs slow, and choppy, and freezes when I get on the website, and I have to wait for it unfreeze, and then load correctly.
My wife has a mini laptop which has started to boot up and run very slow. I suspect there may be too many programmes/processes running in the background. Can anyone recommend a good programme that will let me clean up all the unnecessary programmes running on the laptop and then decide which one I want to run at startup?
My laptop acer window 7 mini laptop use to hang. Sometimes it hangs while booting, sometimes when it has finish booting, sometimes while am working or trying to save a document.Whenever it does that i will short down through the start up button then switch it on again. The system will then give options of choosing repair my computer automatically or start window normal. Most often it still hangs even while i chose repair automatically, the same goes to start window normal. Sometimes it will start working again and then stop any time it chooses.
Laptop wont start up it has a scratching sound on and off and it shows a message saying connection cable no bootable device ,how can I reboot without disk?
I have a Dell Inspiron 1520 Laptop and stuck windows 7 RTM 32 bit on it. All was well but now connecting wirelessly is slow. Like slower then 56k modem slow. I have a Dell 802.11n wireless mini card installed that works PERFECTLY under windows XP. I was getting 80 % signal strength under Win 7 and getting 1 mbps where as in XP I was getting 78 to 100 mbps with the same signal strength. Oh and ethernet works perfectly fine.
For a time I was able to download the corresponding vista driver from dell and then replace the driver that win 7 automatically installs for it, then flipped the card switch off and on and it would work like it should for a while, but then reverted to the same slow network speeds once the laptop was reset or turned off and on. Now flipping the switch or re-installing doesn't work either. I've tried resetting the router, no go and none of my other computers or products have a problem with it. I've tried doing a few things suggested in other posts, like assigning a static ip, disabling ipv6, etc... Nothing has worked.
I'd love someone who knows what it may be or has heard of this precise problem, although I think I may be stuck waiting until Win 7 makes it debut in Oct and until Dell releases a proper 7 driver for it.
My HP pavilion laptop does not recognize my Samsung mini camcorder. (After connecting a firewire cable to the DV port on the camera and then plugging the other end into to laptop USB port).
I have a Toshiba Satellite and when I launch recovery options while starting it up it goes extremely slow. If I launch it with a repair disc it still goes extremely slow. ATM, I've put the repair disc and now im just waiting to see what happens.
I bought my son a Toshiba Satellite C655-S5132 laptop running Windows 7 for Christmas. He used the laptop about a week ago, and a couple of days ago tried to use it and it won't boot. Most of the time when the computer is turned on there is simply a blank screen. Sometimes a scree will show up that has Toshiba's name on it with F2 go to utility manager and F12 go to boot manager in the bottom left corner then a blank screen. Then sometimes it screen with Toshiba's name and the F2 and F12 will show up and them after a while something that looks like and underline that is blinking will show up in the upper left hand corner and there will appear a message that says ...
Intel UNDI, PXE-2.0 (build 083) ForAtheros PCIE Ethernet Controller v2.0.1.9(12/15/09) Check cable connection PXE-MOF: Exiting Intel PXE Rom. No bootable device--insert boot disk and press any key
When it opens pressing F2 in Setup Utility the system date is correct, the System Date is correct and Language is in English. You can enter these three and change them. But the CPu Type, Cpu Speed, HDD/SSD, Total memoy Size, an Sytem Bios Version cannot be selected or entere. The boot manager can be entered and the boot sequence can be changed. Nothing else can be done, can't even enter safe mode.
Recently my Toshiba Satellite laptop which runs Windows 7 is not shutting down. When shutting down, I receive a message that there is a background program running. I have to shut down the computer using the power button. Before I shut down the computer, I close all opened programs and then I open the task manager to see if there are any applications still running and there aren't any running.
Bought the toshiba satellite A505-S6970 for college three years ago. Now the logo shows then the F2 or F12 menu. After which there is only a blinking cursor, There are no error beeps. Additionally the keyboard is entirely unresponsive: I can neither enter the F2 nor F12 menu. After powering I have left it sitting an hour but it was still a flashing cursor. It will not boot to usb if I put in a known to boot usb drive. Similarly it won't boot from a bootable CD or a DVD.
The laptop runs the UTube Toolbox (TB) most of the time so when I went to bed I checked the TB and everything was running fine. I checked it again when I woke up and the screen was black and gave the following message:Check cable connectionPXE M0F: Exiting PXE ROMNo bootable deviceInsert boot disk and press any keyI don't have a boot disk. I tried to create one on my other win7 laptop but I only have cdrws and not dvdrws so I guess it failed because of lack of space to record everything? The cdrw did save some boot files but the Tosh laptop still couldn't load windows.I did manage to run the repair tool from the LT directly and when it finished it said the root cause was a corrupt registry. I presumed it had fixed it but windows still wouldn't load and now I only get the original problem message or the repair thing which never shows a windows and the HD stops sounding like it's actually scanning after about a 1/2 hour
