In trying to install my Sidewinder Precision 2 joystick in my new Windows 7 computer, I get a message that in order to install it, I need a 64 bit version.Does Microsoft provide upgrades for this?
I have an old MS Sidewinder joystick I'm trying to use with FSX on Windows 7. I adapted the 15-pin connector to USB (ready-made cable by Belkin). The computer doesn't seem to recognize it.
I recently bought an X4 keyboard to replace my G15 but I have found the X4 great until it has a burst of random typing without human input. I was playing CSS and found it was randomly controlling my player, I checked console and it was typing a lot of c, d, e ,f
I can't make @ on my keyboard by pressing the right AltGr+2 to make @. I have to change to US keyboard language in windows by hitting Alt+shift. In order to use the US keyboard in windows 7 to make a @ by pressing shift+2. I'm Swedish and I use SV as keyboard in Windows 7. I can make {[]} (6,7,8,9,0) but not the AltGr+number button 2,3,4,5. I have the latest drivers for Microsoft keyboards (8.2). It worked when I bought it, but like 2 weeks ago it doesn't work anymore.
I wish to install an SSD and put windows 7 64 bit on it. I don't have a cd/dvd copy of windows just the one on the recovery partition of my Dell Inspiron 580 1TB HD 8GB RAM.Firstly is there more than one cable to connect from the SSD to the motherboard or two like normal HD's?Secondly having fitted the SSD do I then boot up normally from my old HD and then somehow reinstall windows but selecting the SSD>?
I'm a new Windows 7 user. I have a Coby 1GB mp3 player that I've been using as a thumb drive for years since the buttons on it broke off. I've put all kinds of files on it from documents to picture files. Yesterday I brought home my new netbook running Windows 7 Starter.. I took the mp3 player and plugged it in the USB port. Windows 7 recognized it with no problem.. but to my surprise, it doesn't show the files on it. So I tried to put files on it.. and it doesn't seem to allow anything but music files (MP3's) to be put on it. It's very odd because my Windows XP desktop computer allowed me to use it as a basic thumb drive and it accepted all types of files to be put on it.. not just MP3s.Is there a setting on Windows 7 that would allow me to use the MP3 player like a regular USB flash drive as I did on my XP system?

IDT High Definition Audio CODEC I have my laptop in a docking station that has 2 DVI-D Male/Male connections. I have a DVI-D cable running from each to an LG monitor. When I go to the display settings, I can get one of the monitors to extend out from my laptop, but I cant get it to go to the third one.
I have a laptop with a company that uses a domain server. There are no local accounts on the company laptops, but you can still log in using previous credentiails. My problem:When I log in without the domain present (Example: Network cable unplugged) to get on the company wireless or VPN from home, the %USERNAME% variable is set to upper case. This wouldn't be a huge issue, except that some programs/scripts rely on the username variable being lowercase. My question: Is there a way to force the username lowercase, when logging in to a system without the domain present?
So I'm trying to install Cygwin using this tutorial:Geek to Live: Set up a personal, home SSH server..I installed Cygwin from their website and started installing.. this is a quick gallery I made of the steps I took. I uploaded one of the steps twice by accident but I actually made the local package directory F: which is my USB device.I can't check off openssh which it shows in the diagram on lifehacker.com's guide shown here: url..This is the gallery of the steps I've taken. Note F: is my USB device.. I accidentally uploaded two pics with one of them saying I was installing to C:users yandownloads or something but that was just a mistake. url...At the end of the installation I try to complete the final step and open the command menu for cygwin, enter "ssh-host-config" but it doesn't recognise the command and I know it's because I can't tick off that box.
I am attempting a repair on a users gaming computer. If we attempt to allow windows to load, it attempts to chkdsk and on the 3rd stage it will index up to values of 50k plus and then say "C drive is dirty." We have tried booting into safe mode but windows files get stuck in windowssystem32driverscrcdisk.sys. I have tried booting into "last good configuration" with no luck. Chkdsk cannot be skipped (using a wireless usb keyboard). F8 and del keys work on system boot up, but for whatever reason I can't skip the chkdsk. We are about to try to load a windows repair disk (user does not have windows 7 installation disk) from a burned cd from back up and restore disk option in Windows 7 (using a laptop to do this). User said he had to force a shut down before these errors started to occur (removal of power plug). On the next boot up, the operating system loaded, but after that he was never able to get back into Windows.
how can i connect internet with my samsung phone and data cable in to my laptop? there is no modem option in control panel>phone and modem. my os is windowa 7 ans fast
I explain how frustrating this has been...Ok, so just a very brief back story, my job has a shared Toshiba file, where all scanned documents, and received faxes can be viewed as PDFs. Everything was fine until my computer (Windows XP) crashed, and I rebooted it with Windows 7. Everything else has been fine, but resetting up this file has been a nightmare. After about 15 calls, someone was finally able to create a folder that worked yesterday, however today it is back to the drawing board. , the folder that was set up was NOT the same one that my co-workers use, which is fine as long as I can access the data, but for whatever reason it is not working...I don't know if it has to do with the network path, the file name, or what.
Now, I am definitely hooked up to the network, and I definitely have network discovery on. Password protect is not on so that anyone can view the shared documents. If it makes any difference, the printer/copier/fax machine/scanner is a Toshiba E-Studio202L machine. When I click homegroup/sharing options, everything is checked off...I really do not know what the problem is, as the documents are just not getting forwarded to my folder (or any folder).
I am using Windows 7 Professional on an HP Envy laptop.I hate windows live mail.I do have Office 2010 installed and only use the contacts and calendar programs.I do not use Outlook.I have copied Vistas Winmail.exe program to Win 7 and reinstalled all my mail and settings from before with no problem. It works and I am reasonably happy. However, I cannot set it to default for .eml or mailto: links. I have been to the Control Panel and Default Programs.looked in "Set your default programs" and Windows Mail is not an option. It does not appear there at all.been to "Set program access and computer defaults" and set it as default under Custom.I tried going to the "Associate a file type or protocol with a program", found the .eml and mailto links and tried to change the program associated to Winmail.exe by browsing to the file and selecting it. But the file is grayed out and cannot be accepted as a change. The WinMail.exe file is also grayed out when you browse to it in Explorer, as it is a hidden file.
Would like to disable this key combo while in games full screen mode. I know this has been an issue for a number of years now, and I'm very surprised that windows hasn't addressed it with some kind of built-in setting option, but I will certainly accept any functioning workaround.
Have Windows 7 installed on the C drive partition of a large (1 TB) HD. On the other D partition is Win XP. The problem is that the people who built the computer used a bogus copy of XP to set it up. I have a real one and want to replace the bogus one. I thought I could change the boot order in the BIOS and have the computer boot to the MSFT XP disc. But after I change the boot order to the DVD drive it still boots to the screen with the choice of Windows 7 or XP. If I choose XP, I am in WinXP and can't get the CD to overwrite the bogus XP. I do not want to chance anything happening to my Windows 7 installation as it's perfect and has a lot of work in building all the programs etc.
Is there a way that I can have Windows auto configure my IP settings, so that when I'm connected to my home network, it uses the static iP settings I have, but when I'm at school or anywhere else, switch back to dynamic? Normally I have to go into the settings and turn it on and off every time.
I just did a clean installation of Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit on my Fujitsu Lifebook U820. I am signed on with an account that has administrative permissions, but when I go to Windows Update and try to change the settings, the dialog tells me "Some settings are managed by your system administrator." As such it will not let me change how important updates are done and is stuck on "Never Check for updates (not recommended)". I am the only user of this laptop, at my home and it is not part of a network. Could I have selected an incorrect option during my Win 7 installation? How do I change this as I want Windows 7 to update automatically? I've spent hours trying to solve this.
have a problem of setting the virtual memory, i dont know should i turn it off or leave it as it is or set it to recommended, a friend of mine said i should make the initial size half the recommended, and the maximum size = the recommended which is 6118 MB, i run HL2 games perfectly and so as Counter strike source and Team fortress 2, but i experience a mouse lag when i activate the Vsync, now, as for assassin's creed , i have the recommended to run assassins creed on the best of graphics, but in the gameplay, the fps drops to 55 in crowded areas, and it does that in many other games, so i am PISSED, I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO, can some one please help me? What is the recommended size for the Virtual memory for a 4GB ram?
if I have a program that is starting with Windows that I do not want to start with windows I can go into msconfig and remove it from the services and startup, but I have a program that I want to start with Windows that isn't listed there so I don know how to do it or if it is even possible.
Specifically, I want Outlook to start with Windows because it is my work computer and I have Outlook open at all times on my machine, so it would just save a little time each day if it started automatically. I might also like to have Chrome start as well because the workorder system is accessed from a browser so again I will need that as well.
I just sent up a brand new PC and went through the Windows setup steps. It asked me to reboot and I did so. I must have mis-typed my password while creating my user account, because I now cannot login to the computer. Seeing as I JUST got it booted up for the first time I hadn't had an opportunity to create another administrator account or password reset disk.
i have about 10 windows 7 pc's on my network and we have network drives mapped to there pc's the mapped drives keep showing up with a red X and i have to remote to there pc and go thru the netowrk and get to the exact location and click on work online.
When i started my laptop..the system went to startup repair mode..the startup repair mode did not worked n i went to ''restore to factory setting ''.Now the main problem arised. The factory setting later asked to reboot the system .the system failed to reboot.it gave the msg as ''bootMGR file '' missing.I was told by a local tech to use operating cd to repair the laptop. Now wat i saw the hard disk partion failed to That is before it was C:drive 50 gb & D: drive 450 gb.Now it was C:drive 498 gb & D: drive 1.98 gb,Which means i have lost all my important data which was in my hard disk .Is there no way for the data recovery. How come ''restore to factory setting failed ''?
