Run Command Gone Windows 7 64bit

Dec 4, 2012

I have been running win 7 64 bit on three different x86 64 bit machines for several years with little or no major issues other than searching for drivers and so forth. however out of blue today the run command which i can turn on or off via the task bar properties and elseware. Its turned on and its not in the menu here start is on the other two machines. Should i reload the os or fool with registry?

Command To Change The Path Using Environment Variable From Command Prompt?

Jun 9, 2012

In UNIX, for changing the directory path, there is "cd" command. .This works fine in windows 7 too.. But the problem comes when we are trying to change the path using environment variables. .

In UNIX, cd $JAVA_HOME changes the path to the value set for JAVA_HOME,

Similarly is there any command in Windows which does the trick from command prompt for changing path using Environment variables. .

3rd Party Sync Software For Windows 7 64bit With Outlook 2010 64bit?

Jul 10, 2010

Windows Mobile Device Center doesn't work with Outlook 2010 if installed as 64 bit. Microsoft says to "fix" this by uninstalling Office 2010 and installing the 32 bit version! My question is are there any 3rd-party sync programs that will work with Windows 7 64 bit and Microsoft Office Outlook 64 bit and Windows Mobile 6.5 devices? I don't need to sync email but I do need to sync calendar, contacts, and tasks. And yes, I am aware that the iphone will sync with it! Silly Microsoft. I have 1.5 years left on my mobile contract with my Windows Mobile 6.5 phone?

64bit Computer Cant Be Repaired By 64bit Windows

Mar 13, 2012

My computer got the BootMGR is missing problem, which I have had in the past which is not that big. I insert the Windows 7 64 Ultimate disk it starts up everything fine, press repair my computer and it finds the installation. But when I press on it and next it has an error pop up saying "This version of system recovery options is not conpattble with the version of windows you are trying to repair. Try using a recovery disc that i compatible with this version of Windows." If I dont select anything but press next it allows me to look at the screen Im supposed to, but if I go to command prompt or click autmatically repair nothing will be saved or changed. This is the same disc I installed Windows with and repaired it several times. But I did have to reset BIOS earlier so this may have affected something.

Run Administrative Command Prompt From Command Prompt

Jul 22, 2011

Ok So I got myself into a unique bind here. I was trying to install some custom system files (for a theme) and I did it wrong and now I cant open explorer.exe . I dont want to goto a backup because this is a easy fix. (in my view). So I need to know how to run command prompt with administrative privleges from command prompt.

I am trying to do this command: copy explorer.exe C:Windows

So if there is also another command I can just tack onto that that gives me admin rights to do it. I would be happy.

Windows 7 Won't Let Me Run Chkdsk From Command Prompt

Dec 16, 2009

I ran one of the performance reports today, which claims I have a disk with the dirty bit set. Recommended running chkdsk.Fired up a command prompt and typed chkdsk v: /f/r/x..Access Denied as you do not have sufficient privileges. You have to invoke this utility running in elevated mode.SO, I right-clicked and ran the command prompt as an Administrator. EVEN THOUGH I'M ALREADY AN ADMINISTRATOR.Got exactly the same result. Went into the command properties and SET the thing to "Run as Administrator".UAC is turned OFF.There are days with Windows 7 where I feel like everything is 2 steps forward and 1 step back. How do I make it let me do a simple chkdsk - no I DON'T want to set something to have it run at boot, or go find some 3rd party program to do the same thing. I just want to run chkdsk from this box from a command windows.

XP To Windows 7 Command Comparison Utility?

Apr 9, 2012

I am seeing a utility that will let me enter the command that I use in XP and then tell me what the corresponding comand or sequence of comands are in Windows 7. What I am finding is I am spending many hours locating the correct set of sequences to do something which is very straightforward in XP and do the same thing in Windows 7. I end up going onto the web and have to search for the command and the information necessary to accomplish a task. An example of this is creating an ODBC connection. In XP it exists as an option in the Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Data SOurces ODBC. In Windows 7 now its buried in Windows System32/odbcad32. I am not seeing any real advantage of using Windows 7 other than running in 64bit mode. It seems that the order of where things/commands are located and what commands are called is many times changed as well.

Windows 7 Explorer Command Line?

On one of my PCs running Windows 7 Pro 32 bit I'm getting odd behavior when I use command line switches for Windows Explorer. When I create a shortcut with the following command line it works perfectly everytime: C:Windowsexplorer.exe An normal Explorer window opens. If I create a shortcut with the following command line it rarely works. It starts but just hangs and no Explorer window opens: C:Windowsexplorer.exe /e,c:That switch at the end of the command line should cause an Explorer window to open with the C: drive selected on the left pane. That's exactly what it does on all of my PCs except one.Obviously something is set differently on this one PC but I don't know what.
