View 3 RepliesWindows 7 x64 latest updates applied. WMP 12 now cannot rip CDs. It was set up and worked fine, but the disk that the path pointed to has been removed from system. Now ripping does not work, and I cannot reset the path. THe options dialog just ignores the click on (CHANGE...) button for path. Clearly a bug.
I have tried to uninstall WMP and reinstall it - using optionalfeatures.exe [or the control panel feature to show windows components] but that does not fix the problem. WMP 12 is back, but still does not work.
I just want to load a cd of music onto my media player. I use Window's "Help and Support" icon and type in "download music." Media player help says I should look for tabs saying "Rip(ping)" to click and no such tabs exist. I look in both Media Player and Media Center and no tabs exist. I am using Win 7 64 bit Pro version.

I copied across all the Music folders from the old PC into the Music Library and I can play them by clicking on any track but Windows Media Player has not found and indexed them. I cannot find a Search and Index type function. Is there any way to get this to happen ?
Awesome little piece of hardware btw, perfect for a discreet media unit in the lounge.

When listening to music on my PC, it does not matter if I use Winamp, Songbird, Quicktime, Windows Media Player, or any other software. Every so often, there appears some sort of distortion, like the drive that the music is on slows down. I dont know if it is the driver or what. Its hard to explain. You have to hear it. I dont think its the mp3 file itself, cause I could play a song and it will be perfect, but then the next time I play it, it will distort. It is really driving my nuts cause I can't find the reason for it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using a third party music player, MusicBee, to play my music, however if I select a folder in windows explorer of an artist that has more than one album in sub folders under the artist name then the "PLAY ALL" button does nothing.
If I select a folder without sub folders inside the PLAY button works fine and open MusicBee to play the music.
I also have VLC installed and if I right click on any music folder I get the Play with VLC option, how can I add this same option for MusicBee.
if I can sync my ipod on Windows 7 Media player.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have VLC Portable as the default program for opening some video files, like .mp4 and .avi. And I have Foobar (portable) as the default program for .mp3.Usually the icons on .mp4, .avi, .mp3 files get updated with the icons of the assigned media players. But on this PC it's not working. They're still the same icons as if WMP was the default player.Does it have to do with the Standard user account? (Because on other PCs I run from an Admin account and I don't have such problems.)
View 5 Replies View RelatedHow can I make Windows Media Player stop updating media every freaking time I start it up? It always hogs up massive amount of CPU power and goes into (Not Responding) for a min while updating.I only add media files to the Windows Explorer Library so I can get indexed searches. I don't even use WMP to view files or anything. Just to burn some music CDs sometimes.I've tried deleting the files from the WMP library but the next time I open it up, it scans and updates all my files again! Is there a way to completely purge the WMP library and make it not update ever? I've unchecked every option that seems to make it scan and update but it still does it.Basically I want to UNLINK the Windows Explorer Library from the WMP Library.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm in grave problem here. I just installed windows 7 x64 a few days back. And initially I installed the 32bit version of k-lite codec pack for my windows media player. The media center worked fine then. It was loading my ffdshow and ac3filter along as I checked it.But then yesterday I noticed that the same pop-up od recommended/express install of WMP came again. Initially I thought that it must be some bug or something, but then when my MKV and AVI files didn't work in WMC, I realized that somehow WMP x64 got triggered, and now it is using the x64 bit of WMP in WMC. And I just wanna revert back to 32-bit WMP in WMC.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI can't get eithe WMP or MC to play a DVD. I've set the region code. WMP acts like it will play, but then just goes blank, and MC says it cannot play the DVD. View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a Samsung laptop with Windows 7, and every time I try and burn a music CD, I put it in my player in my car and it just makes this feedback noise - no music. It'll play on my laptop, though. It used to work fine with my Dell laptop (which had Windows XP), so I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or it's a system issue. Some songs are mp3 and some are m4a, but the car CD player won't play the disk at all.
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo i have owned this old surround sound system and have decided to set it up in my bathroom. The subwoofer i've got in there makes this bathroom bounce! haha Okay, so i've got music running into the receiver from my laptop, which is located in my bedroom (used a long piece of RCA cable). I like to create music playlists on my computer, but there's no way for me to press the forward or backward button in the media player from my bathroom. Is there a wireless device that would help me control my music player from my bathroom?I own a wireless mouse, and while it would do the job under certain circumstances, the mouse pointer must always be sitting on either the forward button, or the backwards button, i can't exactly see or choose between either or.This whole thing might sound ridiculous to an outsider, but i think its AWESOME!
View 2 Replies View RelatedNot looking for anything fancy or complicated - at the moment I use WMP and I am happy playing 320k mp3s although this might change and the requirement is an easy method of cutting the last played tracks from a random list and placing them at the bottom of the list. Also it would be nice to add new tracks in a random order to places within the list. The main thing is to listen to something new rather than repeat stuff. My list mainly consists of favourites and will probably not exceed 1000 items.
