I cannot use anything in the control panel. I came to realize that RPC is not available but when i typed services.msc in run, rpc is running well..Tried finding solution everywhere in web , but could not find.System restore is not working either. I tried repair install, but the error pops up after I click the INSTALL now button from the Bootable Win 7 dvd as " Window could not retrieve information about the disk on this computer".On top of that, I had encrypted my encrypted partition with the bitlocker. Now If I happen to format Windows 7, would I be able to access that partition?? I got very important documents in that partition.

View 2 Replies View RelatedIn UNIX, for changing the directory path, there is "cd" command. .This works fine in windows 7 too.. But the problem comes when we are trying to change the path using environment variables. .
In UNIX, cd $JAVA_HOME changes the path to the value set for JAVA_HOME,
Similarly is there any command in Windows which does the trick from command prompt for changing path using Environment variables. .
Does any one know how to get the win.ini missing fixed when opening bootcfg/msconfig not found. Also How to change "forcing changes in msconifg" to "not forcing changes" in msconfig from command prompt, as well as opening msconfig from command prompt w/ dos command(s) / paramteters.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy husband and I just bought a Dell Inspiron with Windows 7 Home on it. He bought it for use at work, and when he took it to work, they upgraded it to Windows 7 Professional. I don't know who they had working on this, but it seems that they didn't make a back-up of anything first, and my husband doesn't know enough about computers to have thought to make one, and he didn't realize that the people doing this to his computer might just not know what they were doing. Anyway, EVERYTHING he had on the computer before is GONE...right down to the drivers for the wireless and the BLU-ray disc drive. I can put that stuff back, but he had also just finished writing a sermon on the computer, and that's gone too, of course. A lot of work that unfortunately he didn't save anywhere else.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have Windows 7 Home Premium, 32bit. I used System Tools and did a Disk Cleanup. However, when I tried to boot it up after the process, it asked for my Administrator Password. Why we have to have an Administrator User Account, I have no idea--especially when you can't get into it. I don't remember putting a password on for the Administrator Account. I have another User Account that I can get on the computer with, but I have pictures, videos, documents, etc. on the Administrator Account that I now cannot recover. Is there anything I can do, other than reinstalling Windows?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI think someone copied a file from my laptop onto their USB stick while I was at work. I got home and started to work on the file, then when I pressed save it said 'cannot find location, insert removable storage device into drive d' (or something like that) so I 'saved as' in another location, then checked my 'recent places' folder. Sure enough there was evidence of a removable disk being modified on my laptop whilst I was at work. I confided this to my house mate, checked my laptop again later that night and it had been deleted from the recent places folder. I now want to confront that person about what happened as it is now obvious to me that they had copied my file, but wondered if there's any way I can get the evidence back. I have tried the undo button, but to no avail. This happened on Tuesday (8th).
