Reliability Monitor Stopped
Feb 25, 2009After 4 days of data the reliability Monitor has stopped working. No entries recorded since 2/12/2009. I did find the WERSvc disabled in the services msc.
However I set the service to auto and started and still no entries in the Reliability Monitor for three days. I do no several apps should have been recorded in that time.
Any ideas on how to correct.

BSOD Crash Not Sowing Up In Reliability Monitor
Aug 9, 2012I recently had a BSOD, but it does not appear in my Reliability Monitor OR in my Minidump files.It was within that last couple of days.Where can I find out more about this BSOD? Do all BSOD encounters log information someplace, or are some crashes too intense to even log crash reports? I have attached my SF Diagnostic Tool results, but I'm really not sure what good it will do because it is not showing the crash I am talking about. The crash I experienced was within the last few days (although I have regular BSOD experiences that I'm trying to resolve as it is).

Nov 1, 2009Im having a really tough to TS problem with the reliability monitor. For the last week, it no longer displays any data and the graph dosent render.
It just display as blank with no data. Some things to note...
1. The RAC published and State data are being updated and published each day as they shouold. So the data does exist.
2. I have tried the "Resetting RAC" methods that worked for Vista. But the fix dosent work for Windows 7.
3. I cant think of anything that may have changed. I havent deleted any folders or log files.
4. I've used Process Monitor to trace the events when the reliability monitor executes and everything looks fine.
5. There are no errors or warnings in the event viewer.
6. I havent installed any Windows Updates.
So Im hoping that someone can think of something I am missing here. Oddly it used to work for some time and i ran it each day. Then all of a sudden one day it just stopped.
Could this be a permission issue possibly? I do recall changing permissions for C:UsersMeAppData. Are there any folders or logs within that path that might affect RAC? Are there any services that are required for RAC to collect and render data?
Collect Action Center & Reliability Monitor Events From Windows 7 Clients?
Feb 9, 2012Is it possible to use Server 2008 R2, a Windows 7 workstation, or some software to collect the events logged in the Action Center on our Windows 7 clients? Also, is it possible to collect the events logged in the Reliability Monitor (View reliability history) from our Windows 7 clients.I am interested in aggregating this information in a central location i.e. on a server/workstation, which our administrators have access to. Is this possible when using System Center Configuration Manager? A smaller scale solution would be preferred as we only have around 120 clients.

Dec 13, 2009I've got Windows 7 Ultimate (x64), my graphics card is an ATi 4670HD and my widescreen monitor is a 22inch Samsung SyncMaster 225MW.
Everything looks and works perfect. When I go to display, I click detect, and ofcourse it finds my monitor and sets it to its native resolutiob (1680*1050.)
But when I restart my computer, it will be set back to 1024*768 and it will be listed as the generic monitor.
The latest ATi drivers are installed on a fresh copy of Windows 7 and there were no hitches at all. Also to add, I've got 2 seperate DVI cables used to make sure the cable wasn't at fault and they both give me the same result.
What is the problem? This is one I can't quite get my head around.
Reliability Of 2.5" External Drives?
Oct 29, 2011I've done a bit of research but I'm not sure if these drives actually are less reliable than equivalent 3.5" ones. I have tended to use these for back-ups and have had a few problems with a Toshiba and a Freecom Toughdrive. Is it perhaps down to the fact that most of these drives do not require a separate power supply but are powered solely by the USB connector and perhaps are more prone to electrical connection issues. I used to have a USB ethernet connector before I upgraded my system and this had problems showing in the event log which was cured by cleaning the connector with electrical contact cleaner. Perhaps it is simply the USB connectors.

Jul 14, 2011I've got about 8 different Windows 7 boxes (some laptops, a few desktops, and some media machines). The frequency of "inexplicable weird things" and other aggravations has been increasing over time, and just the last few months I've found myself having done at least 4 complete re-installs, and despite this - all 8 of my boxes are suffering various different problems.I am basically loosing WEEKS of work time dealing with pointless fixes to what I thought would have, by now, been a stable operating system.Some (and by no means is this a comprehensive list) of the recent issues I'm facing are BSOD problems on 2 different boxes ("Driver state power failure"), various (but not all) internet programs failling to connect from one laptop, *extreme* slowness one another latop and two media center desktops, an inexplicably "corrupted" registry occurence, and other weird but similar things.
Most of my machines are new brand-name (HP mostly) boxes, with a couple of other ones thrown in. They all work fine using "live boot" linux distro DVDs, and I have no problems with my one other box that's not Windows (a Mac).Do I just happen to have the worlds worst Windows 7 luck, or is this a growing problem with Windows 7 worldwide in general???

Aug 14, 2012I am running a dual monitor setup with my TV hooked up via HDMI to my laptop.
Everything was working fine before, I always had the laptop as my main display yet I could play a video or a game fullscreen on the TV.
Since a couple of days, as soon as I put something in fullscreen, it immediately goes on my laptop, regardless if it's open on my TV or my laptop. I don't remember changing/installing anything that could've changed that...
I checked a bit in the AMD vision software and the Windows control pannel but I can't seem to solve my problem without switching my TV as the main display. I also made a quick search on google as well as here but the problems were mainly with Flash, which isn't in cause here.

Dual Monitor Issue, Secondary Monitor Is Undetectable
Jan 6, 2010I have just did a clean install of Windows 7 ultimate from XP and I am unable to get my dual monitors to work like they did in XP.
I have a DVI Radeon graphics card plugged into the agp slot, and a Nvidia geforce vga adapter plugged into a pci slot of my dell optiplex 755. When I am in the screen resolution settings the second monitor cannot be detected.
In bios I have 2 options under primary video adapter and they are auto, and onboard card. When set to auto the Nvidia card gets a signal but the Radeon does not. There are no conflicts in the device manager, and all of the drivers are up to date.
When I change the bios option to onboard card the Radeon adapter gets a signal but the other monitor cannot be detected and in device manager there is a yellow exclamation mark next to Standard VGA adapter and a code 10 error that states the device could not be started.
I have powered down, and unplugged every cable, I also tried to use the integrated VGA adapter to the Intel G31/G33/Q33/Q35 Graphics Controller but the computer will not even boot. I get

I have two monitors, both work fine as standalone but Windows will not detect either as a secondary.
Please help me someone, I am so used to having my helpdesk email open in one monitor and all of my other work in the other monitor.
Windows 7 Not Recognizing Second Monitor For Dual Monitor?

Oct 21, 2010I recently had an older HP Pavilion Media Center m7760n Desktop PC rebuilt. The old power supply fried the motherboard so I need to get a new power supply and motherboard. Here are my current specs.
Mainboard : Asus P5QPL-VM EPU
Chipset : Intel G41
Processor : Intel Core 2 Duo E6420 @ 2133 MHz
Physical Memory : 2048 MB (2 x 1024 DDR2-SDRAM )
Video Card : Intel(R) G41 Express Chipset (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM 1.1)

As you can see from above, the "video card" is actually integrated into the motherboard.The computer works perfectly except for one major problem. I have 2 monitors, one is 22" with 1680 x 1050 resolution and the other is a 15" monitor with 1024 x 768 resolution. At the back of my computer I have a VGA port and a DVI port. The 15" is connected to the VGA port and the 22" is connected to the DVI port.When first starting the computer, the 15" monitor was recognized as the primary monitor while the 22" was recognized as the secondary monitor. No problem. I simply went to the display settings and set the 22" to be the primary monitor and the 15" to be the secondary monitor. Unfortunately, this setting seems to reset as soon as I reboot the computer. The 15" is always set as the primary monitor on start up, forcing me to set the proper settings all over again. What's worse is that even after I have set the proper settings, they sometimes revert back when using Media Center or other programs. Worse yet, sometimes the monitors both go completely black ... as if the monitor settings were about to switch but got locked up some how.I'm assuming that perhaps the on board video has a primary port (VGA) and a secondary port (DVI) but even still, shouldn't Windows 7 be able to over-ride this and save these settings so that the monitor settings remain the same during startup and regular usage?
Dual Monitor Desktops In One Monitor?
Feb 3, 2011I'm using a television (32p) as a second monitor in extended mode so that I can watch a movie in the TV and play a game in the monitor (this was my main goal). Monitor and TV lays in two different ambients, both connected to the same pc, one by normal VGA cable and the other by HDMI. I managed to differentiate the audio output so that VLC player sends it's audio to the HDMI (so that only the TV plays it) and the rest of system sounds, media players and games outputs to the speakers (basically only the VLC audio is directed to another output device). I reached my goal so that I can watch a movie fullscreen in the TV and play a game in the monitor fullscreen too without any interference from one another (nor audio or video).
The thing is, because I have the TV in another ambient I can't actually see what's going on in it, as I just "throw" the VLC window to the TV from my main monitor. And here's the question: There's a way to see the TV's desktop in my monitor? Without having to set it as main monitor so to not really switch between desktops.. The perfect thing would be if I could see the TV's desktop in a window like in remote desktops applications.

Sep 27, 2011I have AT&T DSL and it just drops out, I have a 2 wire router and the DSL and Internet lights will flash red when it drops, I have had this problem for almost a year and AT&T will run a useless test and tell me everything is fine. This is a wired network using the onboard nic. Started off by seeing security certificate errors. When trying a different router saw in the network and sharing centre that there was no connection to the internet, however strange as it seems I was connected and could do limited surfing, but couldn't for example download Itunes. I then noticed that the network was defined as public. No other PCs on the network now, but XP laptops have been able to connect to the net okayI have been able to change this to work, but PC now won't see the router - when I enter ipconfig, I do not have any connectivity at all.
I have also tried using the netsh command to reset int ip and winsock which were okay but still no joy. Maybe I need to undertake things in a different orderperhaps while not connected? I would really like to go back to starters amd start over, but while on wireless one can do this, there appears no easy way to reset the wired network settings back to original
