My pc every now and then just likes to freeze or just crash completely so I have to reboot it several times. After a long process of rebooting it still doesn't fix the problem. It's very slow for a high spec pc, I can't seem to do simple things such as working on word or PowerPoint.

In the last two days I have noticed that my laptop is crashing and freezing really often and I would have to hold down the power button down to switch it off, etc. I have used hp support assistant, I don't want to restore factory setting.

I have just got a new computer and windows 7 home premium was installed by the technician. He said it was all set to go. However, when I got home and connected the computer it does not seem to be doing anything as if it is hanging in cyber somewhere.

while installing 7 H.P. it gets to completing installation then freezes up after computer reboots a warning message appears stating windows 7 has failed to install and resume after reboot, and then the same warning message appears.
I tried the roll back installation option and a message flashes on and off to quickly to read.
and Vista will not come up to start over.

I successfully bought the upgrade version of Windows 7 Home Premium N, downloaded and extracted it and now I want to install it.
When I choose UPDATE in the intallation dialog it tells me that I cannot upgrade from Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Home Premium ???
Every website from Windows and other people tells me that it IS possible and even the Windows 7 Update Advisor told me that I should not encounter any problems upgrading.
Has anyone of you yet encountered upgrading problems of compatible Vista/7 versions?
Or any other idea what I can do to solve the problem?!
I know that I can make a clean intall of 7, but this would be a pain..
Yesterday I was messing around on my brand-new laptop, and I was stupid enough to try a keygen to get Ultimate (I had HP). Surprising. It worked but the copy wasn't genuine obviously. So then I rebooted, pressed F8 at boot. An ran Toshibas recovery to try to get the computer to its out of box state. I got stuck at initializomg (either that or I was impaptient) so I turned off the laptop. Then when I truer to boot I got bootmgr is missing. I have an old vista Hp disk so I installed that for the time being. So my question is, how do I get it back to the original state? I do t have any important data or anything.

Over the past few days, my desktop computer has restarted twice randomly. Both times have been during times of low demand on the computer. The first time on 7/20/12 I was browsing the internet. The second was on 7/21/12 during a time when I left the computer idle on a browser for a phone call and came back to find my computer restarted with no information about windows updates or anything that I would expect to cause an automatic restart.I have not run into this problem before so I checked a few things which I thought may be a problem. First I did a virus scan because I have had a few problems with infections in the past. I ran several virus programs including malwarebytes, hitmanpro 3.6.0 (trial), microsoft security essentials, and spybot. After the first restart, I found a bootkit with hitman pro (Master Boot Record (Sector 0) in C:$MBR) which was deleted successfully according to the program.To be safe, I restarted and reran all the virus scans and found no further infection. I restarted another time in safe mode and ran them again and still found nothing else. However, the computer restarted today for a second time despite this infection being cleared. I reran the virus scans and found nothing again.Additionally, I loaded a hardware monitor program to check my computer temperatures and found them to be quite comfortable. My video card idle is running at 45C and my processor is running at 28C. I am running windows 7 64 bit which I installed from a disc on a desktop with an AMD Phenom II x6 1090T 3.20GHz processor, 8 GB RAM, and NVIDIA Geforce GTX 470 video card.

The hard drive is the main boot device, the dvd is the secondary.
Recently ive decided that Well i should upgrade this computer. give it a bit of ..well style.But since ive upgraded to Windows 7 there has been no sound whatsoever. Ive downloaded countless driver programs which tell you what sound card you have and not one has detected it. IVE ALSO downloaded drivers for the Windows 7 version of my sound (Realtek AC97) and ran windows updates and NONE worked. ive ran the troubleshooter on the sound thing...STILL not detecting any sound card. i tried changing the audio in BIOS from auto - enabled....nothing.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been dealing with this problem for a long time but something gotta happen. The random restart happen well randomly during idle, game play, surfing the web or anything that has to do with the computer. One minute I'm enjoying myself and the next I see the Dell logo. No BSOD just loads back to desktop. I have searched the forums and have nothing out there that gives ME and idea of what's going on. I have formatted and reinstalled the OS and it still happens. It happened before and After I upgraded my PSU and Graphics card. It's happens multiple times a day. Now my second issue. I have I play AION and during game play I hear a LOAD crackle through my speakers and I'll hear it for a range of 2 sec to 10 sec and then the system restarts. No BSOD on report. This also happened before and after new PSU and graphics card and before and after format reinstall. I've updated my graphics card sound card, Bios, chipset, everything I can find a driver for I've installed it. I cant find any resolution. I doubt this forum will have an answer for this problem but while I'm listing my problems I'll add this one. During gameplay of AION I will get a message that AION game client OTCbuildclient32_wogg(30) has stopped working. I have also gotten a couple alerts from Norton that that same process is using a lot of memory.
View 5 Replies View RelatedThe original OS was Windows XP 32bit SP3. I upgraded this system to Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit SP2 with no issues.
I then went to upgrade the system to Windows 7 Premium. I chose the "Upgrade" install and not the "Clean" install. I've checked the updater to confirm that all my system information was adequate. I uninstalled the ATI Catalyst Controller, iTunes, etc. that it wanted me to. Oddly enough, the ATI Catalyst Controller was the most recent driver that supports Windows 7.
I checked online to see if the hardware was all supported by Windows 7. The Sapphire Vapor-X video card was not compatible or compatible... it simply wasn't on the list of either. The X-Fi Extreme Gamer said it was NOT compatible... yet, I had a driver for Windows 7 and the Windows 7 Application checker said that my sound card was ready for Windows 7... thus a discrepency.
I went on with the installation. I get to the last step where it resets the computer at 62% and I get a BSOD for about 1/3 of a second. It goes by too quickly for me to capture it. It then restarts the computer instantly with the result of "Upgrade was not completed successfully. Restoring prior OS yadda yadda". I've gone through this about 5 times now trying different things.. keeping the Catalyst controller installed, uninstalling the video card, removing the sound card, etc. Nothing seems to work.
It was recommended to me that I do a clean install... however, I have read that many others have done a clean install and theirs STILL doesn't get past the 62%.
Is it my hardware? Do I need to buy MORE hardware now that 7 is out that is on the compatible list?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI've been having this problem for a little while now and have had a hard time pin-pointing the source.
It seems to be caused by the network card I have (look in my specs). Whenever I stream videos using ORB the computer will reset what seems to be about every 10 minutes. When I stop streaming, it stays on. Sometimes I'll leave it idle for about 6 - 8 hours, get home and notice that the mouse isn't on and the machine is just locked up. The only way to recover is to reboot.
This did this with previous releases of 7 but I thought it would be fixed in the RTM. I have the most recent drivers for my NIC.
I recently all but completely rebuilt my computer with a new PSU, motherboard, CPU, Case and RAM, and all was well with the world for about two months. Then just within the last week or so this has cropped up.
I'm running into an issue where my computer restarts at random. When it happens the screen will go black and then the computer will reboot and load normally. This happens both when at load, for instance running a resource intensive game, or when just watching netflix or browsing the internet. The restarts are very intermittent and can go for days without happening or will happen back to back.
I've run prime95 for over an hour with no issues, so I don't think it's the CPU. I've run furmark and kombuster tests, and there have been no issues. Neither the CPU or the GPU are anywhere near overheating at load, the CPU is at roughly 55C and the GPU around 68 to 70C during the tests rather steadily. I've also run Memtest86+ for over two hours with no errors, and run checks on both of my hard drives just for good measure to no avail. There were no errors there either. The problem has persisted through a fresh install of windows on a freshly partitioned hard drive, so it does seem likely to be hardware, and not software.

My computer restarts itself straight away each time! Later on I noticed when I left the computer on while I'm sleeping the computer restarts itself sometimes too. Once a BSOD appeared. I had no other issues with all the other games, til I bought and installed Dead Space today, again the same problem! Restarts when I click Play again!

Then I thought it might somehow be related to SP1, so I uninstalled it, but still got BSOD. Perhaps there is a physical problem with the power supply or MOBO?

Background: Laptop decides to randomly restart from time to time while I am playing poker and using a HUD display/hand reading program, VPN, & poker software. Not a huge load on the system, somewhat HD intensive with the hand reading from the HD.
This is the related error: Source: Kernel-Power Level: Critical Event ID: 41 It's happened 51 times since 9/14/11. No error code I've turned off where it reboots on a critical error, so I can see if I can generate an error code.
I decided to do CHKDSK, fell asleep & woke to the attached BSOD.
